Why does it feel like the #2 seed often gets to play the team "no one wants to play"? lol Same with the Eagles vs Packers. I'm kind of surprised to hear Miami's coach say Tua is unlikely to play this weekend. What happened to him? They are next in line if Denver loses...and it's not improbable that Denver could choke. This is a must win for the Dolphins.

The Nick Wright show First Things First has a segment on this afternoon "Can Lamar steal MVP from Allen". Broussard thinks there's a 30% chance he steals it if he puts up big numbers vs Cleveland, even though he admits the Browns are playing no one. It's all bluster. Nick actually defended Allen and said that Lamar's MVP last year has set the table to Josh's MVP this year and he put up side by side stats of Lamar 2023 vs Allen 2024. He thinks a tiny violin should be played for the Ravens fans complaining.

Week 18, Bills v. Cheats, PREDICT THE SCORE!
zow2 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a weird game and one the Patriots Execs do not want to win. But you can't make a coach and players, not play hard or lose on purpose. I suspect Maye plays a half at most, then he will be pulled and NE empties their bench. Buffalo's backups take over and win. Bills 19 Pats 17 -
Acho had a good segment on his show a month or so ago. He was making the case for Allen, and said you can tell the story of the NFL up to this moment, and never mention the name of Josh Allen. He went on to talk about how Josh is the first player in NFL history to do this, or do that, and all his amazing accomplishments. but without a Super Bowl win, or an MVP there's no reason to ever bring up his name after his career ends. Acho said the man deserves the highest honor based on what he's done this season and 50 years from now he deserves to be talked about. So when people say the MVP "doesn't matter", or "who cares". That's nonsense. We all like the man, and can't thank him enough for what he's done for Buffalo and the Bills. Winning this award will change how people view JA17 for the rest of his life and beyond.

I've put some things together over the past couple seasons from articles and interviews about the MVP process....and my conclusion is no one is going out on a limb to vote for a guy that really has no chance to win. Apparently it's a bad look. That automatically eliminates Burrow, Barkley, Darnold and Goff. The person what went rogue and voted Josh for 1st place in 2023 really was a maverick. You may have a couple more loners this season that vote for Lamar, but this race is over. It's going to be Allen in a landslide. We are going to celebrate the greatest individual award an NFL player can win.....and Lamar fans are going to go crazy and wonder how/why Josh won 95% of the first place votes.

Vrabel has always scared me. I hope the Jets go a different direction.

It’s going to be fairly overwhelming in favor of Allen, just like it was for Lamar last season. Reason being is that people aren’t going to place their 1st place vote for who they know is the losing candidate. I’d make a healthy wager that Lamar won’t win a 3rd MVP until he reaches a Super Bowl at minimum,, probably would have to win it.

I finally checked the Ravens board and not any surprise, they have a 154 page "Lamar 4 MVP" thread going with over 1,800 replies. I only scanned a couple pages. They aren't going down quietly. But a few posters do concede Allen is probably going to get it, and Lamar is hurt by having Derrick Henry. But one thing for sure...that board thinks the Bills would get smoked by Cincinnati.. and if they are fortunate to not play them in the Wild Card round, the Ravens are going to annihilate Buffalo in the Divisional round.

So, how is everyone feeling about this defense going into the playoffs?
zow2 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Greg Cosell was just on Cowherd breaking down the Rams. Said the Rams have transitioned to a running team. There are some limitations starting to show with Stafford. Oh, except when he plays the Buffalo defense, then it's Super Bowl Stafford who can't miss. -
All the morning shows today had segments on the MVP debate. It's all fodder to fill airtime. Some even said it all comes down to this weekend. Meanwhile, Lamar is playing against the Browns, who are holding out some of their good players in hopes of backing in to the #1 overall pick. Cleveland has conceded. Lamar might account for 6 TDs by halftime. Allen is playing a snap, Saquon is sitting out, Burrow has zero shot to win it. Lamar sat week #18 last year and was MVP by a mile. Voters don't care about this weekend. Lamar could eclipse Barkley for OPOY. That's the battle.
-
I've said something similar about Saquon over the past month. So you're telling me he's MVP of the league if he ended with 2,106 yards....but he's not MVP if he finishes with 2,104 yards? That's just dumb.

Based on circumstances in New Orleans, what an advantage Penn State will have to get basically 2 extra days of preparations for UGA/Notre Dame.
-
Will be nice to have a stree free game to chill and watch. Because the 1st playoff game is going to be high anxiety.
-
I’m telling you guys. And you can bookmark this post on page 72 and look at it on the night of February 8th. Our guy, Josh Allen is getting the MVP and the voting won’t be very close. There is nothing Lamar can do to win it this season… or Burrow or Darnold or Saquon or Goff. Lamar already having 2 MVPs and his playoff resume have sunk him for this season. If the Bills don’t make the Super Bowl at least Josh will get this hardware and it will be very meaningful for him, the organization and the City…and his future legacy.
-
Case in point, when the Ravens lost to Pitt in game #1, Harbaugh was heavily criticized for the game plan running Henry only 13 times while Lamar threw 33 passes. In the 2nd game vs the Steelers, Lamar passed 23 times and Henry ran 24 for 162. I'm not bashing Lamar, I've repeatedly said he's had a great season. But again, Allen is doing more with less, has two marquis wins that no other QB can match.. and the stats are not wide enough of a disparity to give it to the guy with more losses and (which included losses to two crappy teams). I really think all the debate is just bluster and Allen is getting this award. But i guess we still have to hear it debated everywhere for another month or so.
-
I heard Adam Schein on his Sirius show yesterday. He flat out said he’s voting for Allen and it’s not close.

Hyde has been a "break glass in case of emergency" signing all along. Good for the Bills if the DB's get decimated, good for Micah if he gets a ring out of being in the lockeroom. He had a serious neck injury a couple years ago, they aren't exposing him in a meaningless game.
-
Yeah, i agree. That's why I've been posting everyday in this thread for 2 months. lol. Allen should be a lock. The man has carried the Bills to a 13-3 record. The same Bills who many people said would be 2nd or 3rd in the division, and would definitely take a step backwards. These other fan bases celebrate 40+ TDs like it's the greatest accomplishment. Allen rolls out of bed and puts up 40 TDs every season. As Mike Greenberg said on his show this morning. Nothing against Lamar or anyone else, it feels like it's Josh Allen's time to win it.

If the D can tread water and get a take away or two, and/or a fourth down stuff or two, I’ll take it. That might mean they give up 21 to 24 points but I’m confident Josh and the offense are gonna go off in the playoffs. -
True but I would hope Bills fans would be going equally ballistic if Lamar were the betting favorite now, and we'd be flooding other people timelines.
-
Shefter has said that from everything he's heard, Barkley will not be exposed in a meaningless week 18 game. They wanted the 2,000 and got it. If they chase the record the Eagles are also exposing their starting Olinemen. Other reporters have said that coach is leaving it up to the players themselves if they want to chase it. I do think if he breaks the rushing record that will get him more votes but not sure how much it will affect the overall voting. Allen sitting in week 18 will be the same as Lamar sitting week 18 last season. It didn't affect the MVP voting at all.
-
That Denver game will be something. I can see if Wentz and KC go up 7-0 early the Broncos are going to be puckered up for sure. Even if Denver chokes I honestly cannot see Miami losing to the NYJ. I'm assuming Tua would be back this week. Of course I'd rather play Miami at home than Cincinnati, but i hate having to beat the same team 3 times. You just never know. Maybe Miami would ultimately be the better draw than a dangerous Denver team.

If he plays well and beats Detroit for the 1 seed, he certainly should be right there. I personally think the media "anoints" the guys they think should be MVP from the first game. The well known QB producers. Then the betting lines follow. Darnold didn't start getting hype until week 8 or so. If he plays like this next season from the beginning he would be part of that. I said at the time when the Bills clinched with 5 games remaining that it would hurt Allen. To his credit he played monster games at LA and at Detroit. Meanwhile Lamar, Burrow, Darnold, Goff, etc.. are playing meaningful games every week until the seasons end and it shows in the stats. I do think Allen should also get massive credit for clinching that early, and sitting in 4th Qtrs as often as he does. Clearly he's elevated this club to heights no one predicted. Detroit and KC being 0-2 vs Bills and 29-1 vs everyone else is the final thing that swings everything Allen's way. Those are 2 awesome wins and he made amazing plays.
