  1. Haven't see Josh go off script much these past 2 games, they've been very deliberate conservative calls.  In high scoring games vs Rams and Detroit it seemed like he was throwing on the run, scrambling all over the place.  But of course with that style of play is more chance for turnovers.   I wonder what we see Sunday night?

  2. From Warren Sharp football analysis:

    https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/analysis/chiefs-referee-playoffs-penalties-2024-divisional-round/

In their pursuit of being the first team ever to win three straight NFL Championships, the Kansas City Chiefs have played 11 playoff games since 2021.

In those 11 games, how many times have the Chiefs had more penalties than their opponents?

    Zero.

In those 11 games, how many times have the Chiefs opponents had more penalties than the Chiefs?

    Ten.

That’s correct, and I triple-checked because it was initially tough to believe when I first heard this stat.

10 games in which opponents had more penalties.

0 games in which the Chiefs had more penalties.

I was curious how the Chiefs fared in these metrics in the regular season.

If they are avoiding penalties and also drawing them on opponents because they are simply a sound, well coached team, we should see evidence of this in the regular season.

Out of 68 regular season games during this sample (since 2021):

27 games the Chiefs had less penalty yardage (39.7%)

38 games the Chiefs had more penalty yardage (55.9%)

And then in the playoffs (out of 11 games):

10 games the Chiefs had less penalty yardage (90.9%)

1 game the Chiefs had more penalty yardage (9.1%)

    In the regular season:

36 games the Chiefs had fewer penalties (52.9%)

25 games the Chiefs had more penalties (36.8%(

    And then in the playoffs:

10 games the Chiefs had fewer penalties (90.9%)

0 games the Chiefs had more penalties (0.0%)

  3. Would you all feel more comfortable if this game was in Orchard Park?  or do you believe this is how it’s meant to be. If we’re going to get to the big game, it has to be through Mahomes and Reid at Arrowhead?

Ive always felt this version of KC is an excellent road team.  Maybe even better on the road than home.  I’m ok playing them there.  I think our guys will relish it.

  4. I think if you gave Roger Goodell and some Park Avenue NFL Execs truth serum they probably would like to see Buffalo in the Super Bowl.   Bills-Eagles or Bills-Washington would be refreshing for everyone.  The ratings will be great regardless, but there is definitely some Chiefs fatigue nationally, and let's be honest if you aren't a KC fan no one gives a crap about their 3-peat.   The Chiefs are currently on the longest playoff win streak (8) without missing the playoffs in NFL history.

I do not believe this ref crew will get a call from the corporate office to "go easy" on KC and stick it to Buffalo.  But I've said it all along,  these refs are human and they tend to favor the home teams with calls or non-calls.  So advantage Chiefs even if it's an unconscious bias by the refs.

To be fair, that PI call on Tre White was ridiculous and benefitted us far more than this holding call hurt.

Really can't complain about the refs this past Sunday. Saving all of that for this week 🙂

I heard one broadcaster mention that KC has been hit with fewer penalties than their opponents in 8 of their last 9 playoff games.

I think the refs let some stuff go last Sunday night on both clubs,  but if suddenly the Bills go from be flagged one time to 9 times at Arrowhead I will have a huge beef with the refs.

you guys are at peace and ok if they lose? I've never gotten over the 4 Superbowl losses

I think the OP is basically trying to say this is a House money game because they've exceeded expectations.   Maybe in 2020 it was.  Now it's not. This is the Championship of the AFC and it's a must-win.

  7. I think Mahomes has gotten his calls, but in general, especially the playoffs I feel like the home team is gifted some calls, or beneficial non-calls.

We only had 1 penalty on Sunday, and it was a bad call.  anyone think the Bills had no other infractions in that game?  I saw a couple that were let go.

I'm hoping that's the case in KC.  I feel like in our game there was a correction of sorts and the refs let them play more.

  8. Cooper doesn't suck by any means, but if his routes are forcing Josh to throw him the ball in these tiny little windows because he can't separate, he's not going to see the ball.   This is not the game to make risky throws just to feed a guy.

  9. The main issue is that it's hard to get back here.  KC and NE all those years make it look easy but it's not.  Maybe next season Cinci is back hosting playoff games, or maybe the Bills have to play at Baltimore in a Divisional.  The path might be a lot harder.  or maybe the Bills can go off and have three consecutive years as the 1 seed while Allen is still in his prime?  we just don't know.  Take advantage now.

  10. I'm bringing it all the way back to the 1966 AFL Championship game when KC walked into the Rockpile and beat Buffalo 31-7 to advance to Super Bowl 1.  My late grandfather was there and he was still pissed about that to his last day.  We got them back once with Montana, but the Chiefs have ruined our great seasons in 2020, 2021 and 2023.  We're looking at them in the eye this time, respecting what the Chiefs have accomplished, but collectively we are going to will this to happen in our favor.

To me, they have to beat the Chiefs. If they don't, I am not sure how they recover.

It would be a massive letdown to lose, but pretty sure they will recover because I think the Bills will have a better team next season.  Who knows if it will show up in the record?  or if they will go 10-0 at home again?  But they will have a very good team.

  12. My general feel about the Ravens game, was despite the disparity in yardage and 3rd down efficiency...., the home crowd, weather and atmosphere in Orchard Park willed us to victory and helped cause the Ravens mistakes.

It will be hugely important to not lose the turnover battle in KC.  Even a minus 1 will be tough to overcome.  I would take a 0-0 turnover ratio in this game.  But without taking huge risks I do think the Bills will need more big plays from JA17 to win this one.  Unless James Cook breaks off some long TD runs like Saquon, I don't think Allen will get away with throwing only 20 passes or whatever.  He will also need to scramble 12-14 times I'm thinking.
