  1. LAMP: Attended one of the Get Out To Vote (GOTV) Concerts last night I'm enjoying my Saturday when my wife says, "Hey hun, [daughter] just got invited to see Katy Perry tonight and the parents of the kid with the tickets can't drive suddenly. Can we chaperone?" There goes my night of catching up on Walking Dead and Black Mirror. My wife, tricky Independent but really Democrat that she is, gets me to agree then reveals it's a Hillary event/Katy Perry concert. My takeaways: - They trotted out all the PA area names...but the person who got the most love and got the crowd most fired up, even more than Hillary, was Cory Booker. Everyone knows it but his star is on big time ascent. - Madeleine Albright joined the crowd on stage and she got a really nice round of applause. - Hillary spoke for no more than 5 minutes. My wife and I agree that both candidates look like damp dishrags right now. There's no more to drain from them and having seen them so many times, I am completely sick of them. She got the base cheering of course but didn't leave me (who is not voting for her) or my wife (who is voting for her) particularly excited. - Crowd was mundane... Lots of families. Like a big soccer tournament was happening. Positive and upbeat--contrasts with the angry, doomsday Trump crowds. - Katy Perry. She had the best message of the night. During the one moment where she talked about the election, she said she supported Hillary but didn't overdo it. Then she told the crowd that her parents are huge Conservatives, who she loves dearly and who love her, and that she hoped that everyone remembered our commonality as we wrap up the election. It wasn't a unique message by any means, but both candidates and their supporters (and we see it playing out here) continue to lose sight of this. She played 5-6 songs and sang America the Beautiful. She wore a star spangled outfit. - Protestors. There were 6 people in our pack including 4 kids are all high school freshmen, and one of those kids is an openly gay son of gay parents. The lone protestor had a "HOMO SEX IS SIN" sign and a bullhorn he used to lecture the crowd on how if you were gay, Buddhist, Muslim, or [laundry list of usual suspects], you were going to hell. The teens made fun of him (as did everyone) but it made the boy particularly angry. - Protestors 2. The venue was an outdoor concert place in Philly called the Mann Music Center. It happens that right now the circus is in town and the tents are immediately adjacent the Mann. So there were also animal abuse protestors all around. They of course fit right into the Hillary crowd.
  2. Good idea for a prop bet. Vegas will set the over under at 18 months.
  3. Salas Wood and Harvin are guys no other team wants. Woods and Goodwin are number 3 WRs at best. Sammy is the only legit WR.
  4. I don't know if this is good news but it mostly just shows they are trying. In those stats, Harvin had Watkins helping the cause.
  5. Nice bit or history re-writing there with Artie. He wasn't fired for some little reason. He was let go because he was a heroin user and tried to kill himself by stabbing his stomach with a knife. Also funny that Artie said "He'll take the high road" after doing no such thing in that piece. And I like Artie--find him hilarious. But what Artie took offense to (leaving the Stern show to a career of mediocrity), he used to say ALL THE TIME about Jackie, who is the poster boy for leaving for less success. And it's obvious that Jackie is who Stern was referencing, not Artie. Stern has been careful for a very long time not to say anything negative about Artie. What Artie did really shook him up. Stern has gone mainstream. Thank god. I don't need 4 hours of fart jokes, mentally and physically challenged people, and canned bits. I listen for an hour a week or so. Enjoy his interviews and news commentary the most.
  6. Interesting stat in the closing minutes of the radio broadcast. Bills have the second easiest schedule of any team in NFL from here on based on current win %. Trying to find the diamond in the turd.
  7. Dareus is a good football player and the Bills need him. Pulled hamstring is an awful injury and if this team will go anywhere, they need him back 100%. The Bills can decide if he's worth it in the off season. I suspect he is.
  8. The entire defense minus one guy looked like Aaron Maybin.
  9. He chased down a former WR Tannehill twice (and by the way, Tannehill outran others on mutliple occasions too). He wasn't Zach Brown fast but he was fine for a DL.
  10. Coincidental, surely.
  11. Hi defense, let me hand you your ass. Let's hope they come mad next week. Sadly they are going to be sore as hell. They got steamrolled.
  12. Not disagreeing with that but more disagreeing with anyone who said McCoy was 100%. You could see he was not 100% on the second carry. No burst (which is a hamstring intensive move) and only side to side dancing. Complete mess to not have a capable player out there. Gillislie would have been the better choice. Would he have won them the game? Doubtful given the defense's performance but at least the offense could have been aggressive.
  13. Why indeed. Not one person I know thought it was a good idea to play him. And now he'll be out, I hope, for 6 weeks to get the rest he needs. Otherwise it will be a repeat of last season for him.
  14. Shaq is not the guy I expect to fly sideline to sideline. I did not key on him but I saw him in pursuit making the play on Tannehill at least 3x.
  15. The decision to play McCoy was a problem for other reasons. It put a guy in the backfield who could not perform. Gillislie would have been a much better choice from the beginning. He's not as talented but the Bills could have relied on him. Don't blame Shaq on not catching Tannehill. Tannehill was outrunning everyone and Shaq got in on a few plays in pursuit. Not ready to make any judgments on his first game. !@#$ Dareus is right. HE won't be back for a while and that's a problem.
  16. When the best WR is a guy who got cut from the team you're playing, it's not a good sign.
  17. And if by the O Line, you also meant the defense, then yeah.
  18. Yup. ONLY prolonged rest cures a hamstring. He'll need 6 weeks minimum. Totally idiotic to give it a go today. Distracted the offense into giving him the ball and then re-inured it. Stupid.
  19. His statement: "The non-nuclear family [here: two dads] is one of the worst possible starting places for children," My characterization of his statement: "He thinks a family with two dads is one of the worst possible starting places for a child."
  20. Episode 3, The Entire History of You, is probably the most representative of the series. The first Ep with the Prime Minister was as you said, thought provoking, but deeply disturbing. Not sure how many people would opt for more after it. The second episode was my least favorite by far. After that, it found its pacing. The first episode of the new season, and there's no reason not to watch out of order, is really good as well.
  21. First you defended it on merit and now it's a joke. Which is it flip flopper? To remind you of your hilarious line: "The non-nuclear family [here: gay parents] is one of the worst possible starting places for children," I get it now. You're Chris Rock.
  22. Because black people are imprisoned at higher rates, sometimes when I see a black person walking down the street, I call him a criminal. Just as a joke, ya know.
  23. Thanks for your thoughtful gesture. We'll keep it going here.
