Trump Broken Promises thread
Benjamin Franklin replied to GG's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I didn't know that but after reading about it, it makes sense. Nothing about this new knowledge makes me feel better in any way. -

Luckily, none of those tabloid salespeople are near the seat of power. -

I'm waiting for Trump to Tweet classified info. -
I'm not even sure who was in the mix. Arenas has wanted the top job again for a long time so his ascension is no shock.

The area of the field was open--the play was the right play and the call was right. Execution was not. Two things happened. Harvin was like a snail coming out of the break. He sucks at route running and that was a time when he needed to be at least good. Woods and Watkins make that play easily. The pass rusher cut off the ideal throwing lane (watch the play--TT has to push the ball further outside than he'd want to or the ball will get batted down). I don't hate a run there but 3 yards on a run is not easy and Cincy was ready for that.

Stupid election backlash
Benjamin Franklin replied to DC Tom's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Put. Away. Your. Twitter. Trump needs a nanny. I truly think he can do some great things but it's like watching a 13 year old girl prepare to run the country. "Not nice." Trump's thin skin makes Obama's look like plate mail +3. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/22/us/politics/donald-trump-transition.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&_r=0 -
The thing I liked most about Klinsman was an overall vision for US soccer from youth through national team. I like what he started there and believe it will make a difference (but will take a long time). Every youth soccer change in the last 4 years, some of which were huge, was hard to do but good for the future. I hope Arenas leaves that alone and focuses on the top squad. I know the US lacks technical players (!!!) but I hope Arenas puts some more emphasis on technical prowess and less on brawn. The time had come but it was a pretty good run for Jurgen. Hopefully the return of Arenas can push them forward a little more.

What is this playoff push of which you speak?

The Hamilton cast should STFU, and Trump should even more STFU and be grown up. Pence had the right reaction. -

Can some adult please take his Twitter. I like to pretend that the future leader of the free world isn't getting his skivvies in a bunch over Hamilton. -
Soundbyte snap judgment media sells. Do you really think that Americans would boo a family they knew was going to pick up their son's body? Do you think that little of people? Or do you think the media seized on a bad moment of communication between the captain and passengers and dressed up to get clicks? I've been in airports and seen random standing ovations for service people in uniform. We are not monsters.

Trump's leadership team
Benjamin Franklin replied to Benjamin Franklin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Pompeo seems a solid pick. Deep intel experience. Hard line views. Kind of guy I'd prefer in charge of the Intel machine. -
Strange. I fly a lot and have seen the cpatain many times ask people to hold off boarding because someone needed to get off. Never seen anyone complain. I'm guessing only people who didn't understand (headphones wearing) would B word.

Trump Alone at the Top

Ozy is racist. Except maybe Rich in Ohio and one particular unabashed anti Semite, don't think I called anyone else here a racist. I watch Trump warily on race. That's all. Not grave concerns. I hope he focuses on jobs, debt, and trade. -

You hear what you want to hear. I don't think the president has that much power, and I don't think Trump wants to round up Muslims. -
Trump Alone at the Top
Benjamin Franklin replied to Gene Frenkle's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I didn't compare him to Hitler. Someone else started that chain and I noted an example of one of his idiotic statements that places him closer to that line of thinking. Of course, it is easy for others to then say, "You said Trump was Hitler" than to appreciate nuance. -
Trump's leadership team
Benjamin Franklin replied to Benjamin Franklin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Can you not distinguish between being an informed citizen who critiques his elected officials and one who blindly gobbles their knobs? I counter Bannon with Gingrich. I counter Sessions with Christie. Happy? I've already told you multiple examples of things that encourage me about Trump and supported some of his decisions. But I'm not a lemming and won't watch his stupid decisions go unchallenged. I hoped Obama would be the best president. He wasn't. I currently hope Trump will be the best president. -
Trump's leadership team

I got to know him a little personally. He was very smart and beholden to neither party at the beginning of the current trend where there is no middle. -
Trump's leadership team

I'm not a Democrat you dillhole. I despised Clinton and can't stand Bernie. Obama was a terribly divisive leader and I'll never forgive him for moving the goalposts on the almost debt deal. I loathe the Democrats and can't think of one current one who I'd support for president. -

Except it is. "Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," a [Trump] campaign press release said. -
Trump's leadership team
Benjamin Franklin replied to Benjamin Franklin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I want President Trump to be the best president ever. I never said otherwise.I want him to succeed massively. But I'm also watching what he does. Candidate Trump was not confidence inspiring. He was a liar. His opinion changed when it suited him. But some of what he said, "drain the swamp," not beholden to special interests, firm on terror--these are promising. So I'm watching and judging, like a responsible American. He chose Bannon to be his chief strategist. Bannon's Brietbart is a not a news site but an advocacy page of half- and slant-truths. I judge that and discuss it. He chose Priebus, who seems quite qualified. I judge that and discuss it. And so it goes. And I said Sessions was "eminently qualified" to be AG. I'll keep throwing that in your face until you hear it. I didn't quote Ted Kennedy. You did. My critique on Bannon plus Sessions was one of optics. I'm not the only one in this thread to note it.
