Trump's leadership team
Benjamin Franklin replied to Benjamin Franklin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
How long will this guy last? Over under 4 weeks. He's trying to out-reality-TV-behavior Trump and winning. Don won't take kindly to that. -

Calling the FBI to Investigate the "leak" of a publicly available document. He deleted because someone probably told him how Politico got the document. He will fit right in to this administration. Drain the brains. -

Why are you holding Trump to any word he gave? He had no sense of honor or shame. Are you just posting to fill space? Do you think the apologists here care? JSP will be along any second to say something about Obama because that's what matters. -

Acid rain was real. It wiped out entire lake ecosystems in the Adirondacks. They are coming back due to regulations. -
CTE in nearly 90 percent of football players
Benjamin Franklin replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but it's important for people on the Internet to feel smarter than scientists. Does the article address that? And continuing to beg the question: How can anyone let their kid play football in the face of these staggering odds? -

Believe it or not, that was some sort of really strange typo. Wires crossed in my brain. I'm happy to insult you any time but meant no harm there, since I'm on the trans side! -

Transgreggy military is going to affect, what, 25 people? I'll skip losing sleep over it and assume whatever happens will be ok. -

You're not wrong: It is newsworthy when Trump acts like a president should. -

Good approach attacking a woman's march when discussing the Boy Scout Oath's merits. Hard to concentrate with your head buried so deep in the sand. Please explain the end to Lost. -

Trump is arguably better than Caracalla and more effective than King Tut. What other historical discussion would you like to have? We've talked about how he's the second fattest president before. Or maybe you want to talk about the best country to own in Risk? Pachesi strategy? Is E4 the best opening move? Do you prefer Pride and Prejudice or Anna Karrinnina? Did you spot 5 errors in the Dunkirk trailer? Open season on other topics when Trump gets criticized here. -

He may not be the worst president yet but he's got a lock on the one with the least class. Bravo Donald. -
I have loved this apes reboot but this latest was not the best. Yes the apes are amazing but that was already established in the last movie. In this one, the story didn't move me and what was happening to the girl and others was not explained or explored. With my family out of town, I got in two movies and also saw Valerian. Meh. But I want more sci fi and less superhero in movies so I keep up my support of people giving it a try. (Maybe a graphic novel is a comic...whatever.) Valerian seemed like a kids movie. More goofy than good. More comic-y than science fiction-y. Comics are simpler to make and all have a straightforward plot that won't confuse the now-trained audiences: (rise of hero, rise of villain, confrontation, love interest, secret identity, rinse lather repeat). Sci fi plots are a ton riskier.

Let's say that playing football from ages 10-18 increases the likelihood of getting CTE by 4-5 fold over those who play basketball. What are you driving your kid to on Saturdays? There's little doubt football can't be good for putting you at risk for brain trauma as part of the game--not as an accidental fall you might have in basketball or an accidental baseball in the gork. In football, head hits 100% happen multiple times a game as part of the game. Why would any parent put their kid to that risk intentionally when there are 50 other sports? I was a soccer coach and my daughter played for me. Coached the same travel team for 6 years year round. I showed them how to head a ball so they could get the feel for it to protect themselves from injury. And we worked on technique without bashing headers. And that was it. Never encouraged them to head and in fact told them nothing was worth a concussion or brain injury. We had great success but two concussions too. One a body contact where player fell to the hard ground and hit her head and one a volleyed ball to the face that a player couldn't avoid. These days kids get an enforced penalty for heading a ball below a certain age (13?). Full contact football for kids is going the way of the dodo. -

I have no issue with the adults playing football and choosing to deal with the repercussions. The issue is with kids and football.
