As an advertising copywriter, I would be out of a job quickly if all I wrote were punny headlines. At least at place that wasn't full of hacks. Puns are the lowest rung on the joke ladder IMO. Newspaper editors write them (I assume) because they don't know any better, there's a precedent...plus they don't have the time/talent to construct good headlines.

I will respectfully disagree. If you've ever been to a Notre Dame home game, it seems like there's more security than fans. I would blame the lawfulness on the police state inside the stadium, not the altruism/school spirit/good behavior of the student body. When you are less than an hour and a half away from a school, you come up with more reasons to dislike something than just because they happen to be on TV a lot.

Notre Dame is my favorite...but I went to Purdue, and I had friends who had to deal with Notre Dame alumni when they parked their jets at thePurdue airport (they were aviation majors). IMHO, Notre Dame football fans are equivalent to Kentucky basketball fans with regards to their sense of entitlement. Oh, and Duke is another team I like to see lose in basketball. I like the look on all the Dukies' faces when they get ousted in the 2nd round. Priceless.

Troy played 3 SEC teams this year including Georgia and they also played Oklahoma State. The most McKelvin gave up to an individual receiver in 2008 was 30 yards...TOTAL.
