This particular regime has only been spinning its tires for 2 years. I think you're projecting 12 years worth of no playoffs onto Buddy Nix. And they added Barnett and Morrison last year. Maybe you didn't like them, but they were FA signings. And Barnett was a damn good one. We had a back-up C in Urbik. And they added Hairston in the draft. Exactly how many offensive linemen do you expect the Bills to carry on their roster?

I have two possible dark horse scenarios. 1) Richardson is still there at 10 and someone wants to trade up with us to grab him. 2) Buddy surprises everybody and takes DeCastro at 10 (Someone mentioned a guard has never been taken that high, but Buddy has taken the BPA the past 2 years with our first pick).

I'm not positive we'll take a LT. We might, but I am not sure. I have been leaning more towards WR, but I have no idea how Nix has them graded. I will say that Bell not being signed increases the chance for a LT. But they can still sign him before the draft. We'll just be competing against other teams.

I really like Upshaw. He has got phenominal instincts. But he isn't an elite pass rusher. I agree with Buddy that someone good will be there in the second. The question is is Courtney Upshaw good enough at 10? If we were still running a 3-4, I think Ingram and Upshaw would merit a lot of consideration at 10. But I am not so sure with a 4-3. Upshaw can set the edge, but can he rush the passer? Ingram can rush the passer, but can he set the edge? I don't think you want those questions at 10. I am beginning to think they may take Floyd at 10. But what the heck do I know? I've heard that Floyd isn't the best route runner. But I've also heard he's a great blocker. And I sure as hell ain't Buddy Nix. But whoever is there at 10, I think we take BPA. We've done that the past 2 years. And we'll do it this year.

If Floyd is there, we may take him. Although, besides character/judgement I heard a knock on him is his route running, which Chix values. Martin could be a possibility. But I think the real BPA when we draft will be DeCastro. I know he's not a "need," but neither was Spiller. So, DeCastro is my dark horse. I think we pick up a DE in round 2. Someone will be there.

You're assuming if we did take DeCastro in the 1st that A) we wouldn't pick up a receiver in free agency and B) we wouldn't draft one in rounds 2 through 7. I think both of those are silly assumptions.

I don't think moving Levitre to LT makes us better. If anything, the line would be Hairston / Levitre / Wood / DeCastro / Pears. I personally like the DeCastro potential pick because if Wood gets hurt again they can move Urbik to center and not really miss a beat. And I think they resign Bell...just my feeling. Unless they really think something of Mike Jasper. Then the chances of DeCastro are lower.

This is my dark horse for Nix to surprise everyone and take at 10. A Steve Hutchinson clone? TAKE HIM!
