  1. Reiki is a good alternative. Also, find a chiropractor that uses applied kinesiology. They can do allergy testing and help with a lot of different issues. Chiropractors get dumped on a lot, but here in California where people tend to be more open minded towards things, doctors have begun to share office space and/or hours with chiropractors. Make sure you find a good one though. I'm sure there are plenty of bad ones.
  2. A lot of you guys crack me up. I am about to get married. I'm 34. This will be my first. She's 30, at it will be her first. I am by no means an expert, but I do know this. Many people camoflague their issues. I mean, who wants to date someone with "baggage." (HINT: Everyone has baggage. Even people who grew up in a loving two-parent household. If you disagree with this statement either a) you're in denial or b) you're in denial). I suggest everyone in a relationship get counseling. It helps tremendously. Just make sure you find a counselor who's more like the Patriots and less like the Dolphins (i.e. find a good one, one you both like and respect). Men and women are both self-centered. It's the nature of beast. If you want someone to cook and clean for you, hire a maid. If you want someone to be able to share your life with, get married fully expecting that it won't be easy and will take lots of work. Also, don't blame women for your (potentially) bad taste. My .02.
  3. Yeah, I ain't worried since we didn't have a first rounder. The article doesn't mention that, though, does it?
  4. It is a free market, and DTV outbid all comers to secure the exclusive right to carry NFL Sunday Ticket. The problem arises not from charging 100 bucks for HD, but from giving it away for free the year before.
  5. My point is "Will the market bear this?" hence the question in the poll. Price for Sunday Ticket is $219 for returning customers (I think). It may be more for new people and/or they may have a promotion to incentivize things for new customers.
  6. In case you haven't heard, DTV is charging $219 for NFL Sunday Ticket and an additional 99 big ones to get HD programming (it was free last year with a subsciption to HD programming). What you y'all think?
  7. Superfan is a $99 upgrade. They are making a huge mistake (IMHO). The marketing people will learn. You're charging loyal customers who got HD for free last year almost 100 bucks more. DTV should have at least grandfathered them in. We'll see if the bean counters made the right decision or not. I hope DTV has their call centers ready, 'cause they're (again, IMHO) in for a surprise.
  8. What's wrong with moving the Bills to LA?
  9. I'm sure if there were a Satan, he wouldn't pick your closet
  10. Actually, that's why they created a "bogeyman" AKA Satan, Lucifer, etc., ad nauseum.
  11. I say he should cash the check and then enroll at chiropractic school in Sacramento.
  12. To say the Bible has been edited is a gross understatement. People need to stop quoting the damn Bible and start researching what has led to the present construction it's in. It's not a pretty history folks. Many early Christian scholars works were erased because their philosophy didn't jive with the prevailing wisdom. Personally, I'm not a fan of organized religion and most people allow their understanding/belief in God to be colored by the bad taste modern religion can leave in thier mouth. For those who have convinced themselves that everything we see has just randomly occured, go look up Max Planck (or Einstein): "All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force… We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter." Ok, done with my rant : ) And, just for the record, God doesn't hate anybody ; )
  13. I think Leonard from Wisconsin would be a fantastic pick-up for the seventh round. THis guy makes plays, and if I remember correctly, he can return kick-offs and/or punts too.
  14. When I was in graduate school in Atlanta, I worked as a valet. Parked Eddie George's rental car. His freakin' calves are huge (not to mention the rest of him). Yes, he's a big boy. And BTW, Shannon Sharpe is a major (fill in the blank) #$^%.
  15. First of all, the people who try to link being against illegal immigration to Confederate rednecks are as intellectually mature as people who say David Duke represents a majority of Republicans. Give me a break. I don't know how many of you live in border states, but it is a big problem. I grew up in Rochester, but now live in Los Angeles. They are closing hospitals left and right here in SoCal. Why? Because illegals frequent these hospitals, and the hospitals are not reimbursed by the Feds for the medical expenses (oh I see, don't enforce the border, but don't support the problem you're helping to create) so they're hemorrhaging money. And hospitals are closing. Right now it's rural and regional hospitals, but eventually it will start affecting areas more urban. Mind you, this is just one of the problems. The literacy rate in LA hovers around 50%, and the blame doesn't lie with our mediocre education system. Do you know what the third largest industry in Mexico is? Money sent back from the states, so don't tell me we receive this huge economic windfall from illegal workers. If you look at many studies, the net gain is a huge minus. Go look it up, the information is out there. Trying to say that anti-illegal immigration stances are the province of xenophobes and bigots is a crude attempt at forcing the issue into a closet. Well, things are only going to get worse, and eventually even members of the pro-illegal ostrich brigade will have to deal with this very real problem.
  16. Had a friend in college. His was brought on by excessive tanning (supposedly). Also have a dear friend, and her case is more serious than his. From what I've seen, alternative medicine has some better solutions than Western Medice with good results. Then again, I live in California, and there is better access to that kind of treatment here.
  17. Here's a book you can try reading. It's an investors book, but written in very simple language. It has some good insights into rehabbing quickly. Magic Bullets in Real Estate by Dan Auito Should be available on Amazon.
  18. There are also tax defered methods like 1031 Exchanges, but "Joe Homeowner" may not want to deal with the ins and outs of real estate investments. Talk to someone who knows the Levittown market.
  19. Well, you can make a lot of money on fixers. Ask any friends who have real estate experience. You should also check with your agent (if you have one) what comps are on 3 bed, 2 baths in the neighborhood. For example, here in California adding a master bedroom/bath on a 2/1 can increase the price of a home from 50 to 85k. The cost is anywhere from 25 to 35k to do the remodel. That's instant equity. You can also do the fixer over time. The important piece of information is what is the difference in price between the fixer and the other place, and how much would it cost to bring the fixer up to date? Lowballing the fixer is a great negotiating tool. Find out what the lowest they'll take is, and negotiate from there. Good luck!!!
  20. THere have been rumors of terrorists "testing" security on airplanes before. There was a big story on this last year with a "band of musicians" (mostly Syrians) who were roaming around the plane. There was a reporter on board who wrote about her experience. One of the thoughts was, if terrorists can learn how to fly, they can certainly learn how to play instruments.
  21. THere was a study recently on calcium retention in women. Simply not drinking any soda caused them to retain 50% more calcium, as it wasn't being leached out by the soft drinks. But I doub't you'll see a "Don't Got Soda" campaign anytime soon.
  22. Well, I don't know what the heck that person went through, but that in no way resembles my experience. You basically drink the lemonade solution (8oz spring water -no tap-, 2 tables spoons fresh squeezed organic lemon juice -you squeeze yourself-, 2 tablespoons organic grade b maple syrup, a pinch of cayenne pepper) whenever you're hungry. That's it. Possibly some mint teas. I got hungry a few times becasue I got distracted doing other things. My fiance had fasted in the past, and she said this was much easier than the last one she did. I don't know what kind of tea that person was drinking, but I didn't do that. I DID do the saline solution, and I thought it was pretty cool. Drink it and wait an hour. Pretty soon a whole lot of garbage is coming out of you. You may make 2 or 3 stops at the john, but that was fine by me. I am not saying this is everyone's cup of tea but it worked for me. I've been bouncing around the office the past two days. Lots of energy. I also no longer have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning. Oh, you'll also notice your appetite decreasing. My stomach feels a little funny right now because I ate too much (read close to how much I used to eat). Perhaps this person likes to over-dramatize things? I don't know. I recommend it.
  23. Ok, here's my .02. Yes, you may be sick because you've started to eat healthier. But you should look at being sick as a good thing. Your body is detoxing, and what you're feeling may be equivalent to withdrawl symptoms. I would shy away from red meat. Since I stopped eating red meat, my heartburn disappeared. Like magic. Ok, once in a while I may have a steak, but that's like once every 2 or 3 months. ALso, eat organic foods as much as possible. Personally, I just got done fasting for three days. And I feel freakin' great. More energy in the morning. Yes, I live in California but I'm a right-winger--so this just isn't some lefty garbage (for those who think eating healthy is). I would recommend a book to everyone entitled "Tired of Being Tired." There is a lot of great information in there. And if people are interested in fasting (wasn't painful at all) try the Master Cleanse. You can do a Google search to find it. I thought the fast may be uncomfortable, but it wasn't. If you're committed, it's pretty darn cool. Any questions, feel free to e-mail me. edeleo@hotmail.com
  24. Being a Purdue alum I take exception to the Kyle Orton comment. He believes in himself, however, I don't think he has the mobility needed at the next level. I think Brees is much better than Orton. As for Bledsoe, is there a team with a great offensive line and a poor quarterback? If so, trade Drew there. Personally, I don't mind losing football games. It's going to happen. As long as there is good effort, and the team doesn't embarass itself, I'm happy. Not being able to get a touchdown three different times at or around the 10 yard line is disgusting. Wasting 3 hours of my life to a team that is stinking it up (except for a few select players) is beyond annoying. I wish fans were nicer because Drew is a good guy...he's just not a good quarterback right now. He's scared and has zero confidence. He will get run out of town, and that's too bad. I wish him the best of luck. I also wish J.P. would hurry up and get healthy. Baptism by fire is better than death by a thousand cuts.
  25. Sorry. that was me as a guest above...
