  1. A few years ago I was at a wrestling tournament that my son was participating in. There was a girl wrestler in the 110lb or so division, She had never won a match in her life, but she was not terrible. Each guy would approach and try to be cool when they won, kind of shrugging it off like "well, it was just a girl". Finally as the day wore on, the kids were getting tired, the girl ended up against a similar sized 110lb kid from an inner city school. The kids teammates were loud and a bit thuggish, showing their bravado with macho swagger you would expect in a basketball game in the inner city. The 110 lb male immediately went to work, trying to trounce the girl in the first minute, she kept him at bay and each time he was about to get a pin, she was able to lift her shoulder, or slip onto her belly. The boy was really using up all his gas by mid second round, the girl started to get points (i think she had been behind by almost 6 at one point and was now coming close). The teammates were now giving him the business with each point she got. As she scored a point to go ahead, his bench went wild (the whole gym went wild as well). The kids face was priceless as the third round started with him down by 1. By the beginning of round 3 he knew he had nothing left and worse than that, she knew it too. She was on bottom and immediately got out for 2 points, the teammates were slapping the mats and howling at him. She got on top and started to go to a cradle, bringing his legs up and over his chest, every person in the facility was screaming for the girl, (I had never heard this at any match, usually there are 3-4 going on simultaneously), he looked towards his coach with that "what do I do now?" look, but the coach was too busy trying to cool down his howling banshees who were tormenting their teammate. Finally, the double slap on the mat by the ref indicated the pin (had Van Miller been calling it he would have coined the phrase "Pindemonium"). The boys teammates exploded with exaggerated laughter and mocking sheer disbelief. After the wrestlers met in the middle for the final pronouncement, the girls teammates gave her a few slaps on the back and congrats amid well deserved cheers from the crowd. The guy that lost, well, he had to walk back to his section of the bleachers, head down while the coach tried to console him. I swear you could almost see him wish he had never shown up that day. And in case you were wondering, No it was not my son (I would have locked the doors)
  2. clearly yes
  3. For those contemplating a yes, please strap a board across your ass so you don't fall in.
  4. Born and raised in Kenmore, left in 1982 for Wantagh, NY. Gateway to Jones beach Long Island!

  6. I remember Van driving his moped in the early to mid 70's past our house before the 6 O'clock newscast and then returning after the show. He knew my Dad from Niagara basketball and early Bills stuff enough to wave to us as he buzzed by at 7:15 or so on his way home. Back when the games were not televised, we would listen to him and feel the same excitement or in the bad years the utter dismay as he would comment on a fumble or interception that closed out a game. My Dad would put the tv on mute and place the radio next to the chair when watching games on TV because he would rather hear Van than "those idiots that know nothing about our team".
  7. It is over when the wang goes limp
  8. Happy birthday you old man
  9. Its a reasonable argument and you are just asking for fair continuance of your livelihood. I hope it all works out. Understanding that eminent domain is forcing a loss of family property, some sort of concession by the DOT or other agencies should be expected. I just wonder how much effort and expense (and down time for the road under which it is constructed) will be considered reasonable to accomplish the construction of the tunnel. A very good article, please keep us posted.
  10. There are several different radars to select from, Classic Reflectivity (248 mile) Composite reflectivity Base Velocity (winds) Classic velocity tilt 1 Storm relative Velocity 1, 2, 3 and 4 Estimated Rainfall Storm Total surface rainfall differential reflectivity 1-4 Dual polarization scopes I have only used the first 3, but there are about 15 all together.
  11. Radarscope for Iphone, allows me to see local weather patterns and systems moving in while boating. Accurate and can let me see right down to where I am traveling or sitting in the bay. Much cheaper than a full blown radar system for the boat!
  12. Made me laugh out loud on the train, lady sitting across from me thinks I am insane
  13. You would think the Police decals, Emergency flashing light bar on top and the abundance of handcuffs and weaponry in the vehicle would be a deterrent, but not for Billy Bob Dumfck here. Don't mind me, I am getting old and cranky
  14. We were able to talk her out of that one...
  15. Fantastic news Randy, start with the Bills bibs and then the onesie uniforms, get to him early, leave nothing to chance. When does he get his first stromboli?
  16. Yes she was kind enough to pick out a shirt that you described for me, I declined, and asked for a different one. ( I really wanted her at UB dammit)
  17. Daughter has been vacillating on different schools, she wanted to go south, last year she and my wife did the SEC/ACC tour, she wanted to cheer at a division 1 school. She was accepted at most of the ones and seemed to have settled on one in Georgia (Georgia southern) at the last minute, she took off with my wife this week for University of South Carolina. She loves the school and she had already been accepted, this was the first time she was seeing it in person. SO now she is prancing around saying "go cocks" and doing the cheers, shoot me now!
  18. So far the San Fran game looks to be the one, just need to check with the wife.
