My Dad grew up in the Falls, and I went to Niagara in the late 70's early 80's. I thought it was bad then, now it looks like a scene out of Mad Max. The downtown area that used to be where my Grandfather had a store is a blighted mess. I remember back in the 80's my Dad would mutter about the corruption and graft that dominated that city. Even something that should be a slam dunk (federal funding for a library) and the money got pissed away on union guys who put up a shoddy building that had terrible leaks within three years. The company who put in the "Best" bid to fix the library? The same one that built it!
I worked in the Wintergarden when it first opened, it was a wonderful structure that within a few years was falling apart from lack of maintenance and neglect. Millions of visitors pass through the town just to see the falls from the Canadian side, and the NY side has yet to figure out a way to get them to stay on this side.
If the Bills ever put a stadium there, I would favor it provided they raze the downtown area and start over.
