Me too! I'm also hopeful Easly will emerge, though it looks clear Haggan is quite a ways in front of him. Aiken looks to be solidly on the PS-track unless he's doing worse than I think and just gets cut. -

Question about Bills Game in Toronto
Matt in KC replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wouldn't it be horrible if they had to play in Buffalo this year? Thanks for raising the topic. I hadn't heard anything about this. My worthless guess is the law only applies to Canadian companies. I can't imagine they's want to get in the middle of labor disputes for all compaies with varrying degrees of participation in Canada. This article mentions the Quebec Replacement Worker Laws, but Toronto is of course in Ontario.... Linky It also says: April 1, 2011: -
Anderson in front of Kelsay - Is there really anyone that doesn't think Kelsat deserves to be on the team as a backup DE, at least? (And before anyone starts, just shut up about his salary. You're not paying him and we're not cap-constrained). Donald Jones #2 WR - I think he deserves to be on the team but agree with others he hasn't proven to be stronger than the competition this year yet. McKelvin #2 CB - That's a big step up to him being listed as "Other" a couple days ago. I doubt he can hold that spot until the end of preseason. Unless McGee is 100%, I don't think there's any way he gets cut. And if McGee is fully healed, he likely makes it anyway. Tashard Choice #3 RB - Ahead of Johnny White, who is still PS -eligible I'm pretty sure Hairston still ahead of Glenn at LT - Come on, Cordy, take that spot! Good for Hairson fighting hard to keep the starting position. Easley listed as "Other" WR - I'm surprised by this. Hopefully this motivates him to to step up his game and be noticed. Ruvell Martin is higher. Really? Tank Carder behind Scott McKillop at MLB - Really? Is this just for PS game one? Thigpen ahead of Young - I'm a bit surprised, but not really. I think the team defaulted to keeping what had already been communicated in most places.

Is there room for Roosevelt?
Matt in KC replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NR was active for 10 games last yer and 6 in 2010, so he is not PS-eligible. He seems like a good kid and dependable tough not spectacular. Barring injury, I don't see how he makes the team this year, but agree he's the first to get a call if we start losing receivers during the season. Also, I just don't see NR in the camp reports this year like I did last year. It seemed like he was catching everything while the others were finding their legs. This year he's been more of a footnote, if mentioned at all. -
FA Safety Jim Leonhard Visiting Bills
Matt in KC replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The issue is not at all how Leonard compares to Ed Reed, Wilson, Byrd or any oher staring safety. The question is how he compares to Joshua Nesbitt, Nick Saenz, Nick Sukay and Delano Howell. I don't see any issues with signing him to a low/no bonus deal to let him compete for the backup spot. And yes, Dadonkadonk, I'd only do it if he can actually run. -
I used to think this too. He kicked most of his preseason kicks last year half way through the end zone. When I saw this I said "he can kick that far!" At the start of the regular season however, he was back to his typical kicking to around the goal line, toward the sideline. So, he definitely has the leg to kick it that far, though I don't know if the concern is if he can do that for the full season (without risking injury). I assumed they told him to reign it in at the start of the regular season for strategic reasons and he didn't just lose 5 yards off his kicks do to the PS wear on his leg. Then again, if that's right, why bring in Potter?

Terrence McGee's days may be numbered in Buffalo
Matt in KC replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McGee has probably been my favorit Bill over the last decade. Check out McGee in the Giants game last year when he had 11 solo tackles and 2 passed defended: NFL.com Game Center Highlights Check him out at the 1:10 and 2:15 marks. Yes, I cherry-picked this by going to a game where he had good stats. But, I just wanted to add to this thread that he was playing well less than a year ago. Yes he's still recovering, but he may not be "done" yet. -

Easley and WR's have a big night practice
Matt in KC replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm more surprised about what I'm hearing about Graham so far than Easley, Hagan or the other recievers. It sounds like he is taking his new job very seriously: BB.com "Why Graham’s making progress" -
I sure don't. But, I do appreciate the link, DB. A lot of people argued a LB is never worth that high a pick. I want to track LK to see how he contributes, to see if he plays at pro bowl level in his first couple years after that being predicted by many. (Similarly, I'll keep my eyes on DeCastro.)

Sweetest words I've heard out of Training Camp
Matt in KC replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm excited for our new defense as well, but isn't this the same thing we see this time every year, that it takes awhile for the offense to get down their timing and "catch up" to the D? I was actually surprised the initial reports had the offense doing so well. I suspect this was them letting up because they weren't in full pads. -
Actually, Leodis McKelvin is listed as Other, behind third-stringer Prince Miller, and sharing a cell with Isaiah Green. Ouch!

Another "if you could..."
Matt in KC replied to You herd it hear last's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To add another couple sentences: The choice was between the current roster and the Bills all stars from the last decade. If you can add whatever members you want from the current roster to the all stars team, then of course that's better than just the current team. I'm somewhat guilty of thinking that way as well since a young healthy McGee would be on my team. -
Could WR D. Hagan become the #2 WR for the Bills??
Matt in KC replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the team has had at least 53 players on the roster during his entire period of employment and he's been active for less than 9 games, therefore he's still PS-eligible. But I'm not sure either. (Why can't this be easier to figure out? I can find out in minutes his weight, but not if he's PS-eligible? Why isn't this a standard part of his profile on NFL.com?) I'm sure several people will write about this in the TC battles-to-watch articles coming soon. -
Last year it was our lack.of WR's.....
Matt in KC replied to Ramblin' Rob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay, I'll chime in. RR: First of all, you actually can close the topic since you started it. This isn't some permanent mistake that you just have to live with since you posted while drunk (or whatever). Yes, fans will always be critical. A LOT of fans post here, so if you're listening for a theme, you may hear several voices. That doesn't mean a high percentage of fans feels that way, just that they get together in these threads, like attracting like. I don't hear anyone bashing RF, and few saying he should be replaced before seeing what this year brings. (And no one actually naming a QB the Bills could start this year who would be better.) I am an optimist, but I don't think RF can lead us to Super Bowl victory unless all the stars allign, though of course I hope I'm wrong. It's been great seeing what he has brought the last couple years. I love having a smart leader run our offense, BUT I'm not convinced RF has the necessary downfield accuracy (and supporting cast) to beat a really good defense consistently. That's about as strongly as I've heard anyone put it here on TSW recently. Are you outraged? Am I a hater? -
Could WR D. Hagan become the #2 WR for the Bills??
Matt in KC replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, the quote I pasted above says 'Players can't have an accrued season of NFL experience (six or more games on a team's 53-man roster, injured reserve or PUP list), unless they were on the active list (i.e. were dressed to play) for fewer than nine regular season games during their only accrued season(s) " I think Easley is PS-eligible. -
Could WR D. Hagan become the #2 WR for the Bills??
Matt in KC replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My take, listed in the order of likelyhood the team keeps the players on the 53 man roster: 1. Stevie Johnson (lock) 2. David Nelson (lock) 3. TJ Graham (lock) - speedster 4. Donald Jones (near-lock) I thought he looked suprisingly good at times (NE), though I wondered if some of it was other teams didn't have much film/notes on him. I don't know why, but I'm not very excited about Jones' future and would not be at all suprised to see one of the below three outplay him by the end of the year. Purely on intuition he seems like a guy that will make the roster this year then fade away. The next three all have similar height/weight, have considerable upside and have shown flashes of their talent. 5. Derek Hagan - I think he's performing at the highest level now, but has lower upside than the other two below. 6. Marcus Easley - PS flashes, with increasing rep's and responsibility in PS. I'm very eager to see how he looks this year. 7. Kamar Aiken - Also a couple flashes last PS, but not a good as Easley IMO. Would love to keep him on the PS and would not be surpised at all to see him on a roster next year (Bills or otherwise). I doubt any of these last four make the team. 8a. Naman Roosevelt - All he does is catch the ball very well; he had a great camp and PS last year, and seems to have good chemstry with RF. I think he's the first to get a call if there are injuries and the player/s on PS aren't ready 8b. David Clowney - Clowney might have a chance as Graham's backup. They might want another speedster if speed is important to the design of the offense and they don't want all "eggs" in the TJ basket. 10. Ruvell Martin - I just don't see it. I'd be surprised and disappointed if he makes the team playing anywhere near the level he has so far. 11. Derek Session - He'll need all the stars to align to make the team. I'd be surprised to even see him make the PS. Practice Squad Eligibility summary: •Players can't have already been on a practice squad for two or more years, although a third year on the practice squad is possible if a player's team has had at least 53 players on the roster during his entire period of employment (players are deemed to have spent a season on the practice squad if they are on it for three of more regular season or postseason games during their first two years and at least one during their third year) •Players can't have an accrued season of NFL experience (six or more games on a team's 53-man roster, injured reserve or PUP list), unless they were on the active list (i.e. were dressed to play) for fewer than nine regular season games during their only accrued season(s)
