Only FF Team this Year - Picked 8 in 12 person .5 PPR League
Matt in KC replied to Matt in KC's topic in Fantasy Football
Thanks for the feedback! Last year's champion was late to our draft and didn't draft a RB until the 5th round (DeAngelo Williams). Now out of necessity he's shopping Calvin Johnson. I think him for Frank Gore and a WR sounds fair (I've offered DeAndre Hopkins).... -
I'm really up on this guy. He seems to be very physical for his size, aggressively blocking. Since he won't be a liability on running plays, I think Goodwin will get a LOT of playing time this year, more than many people think. This puts him ahead of TJ Graham in my book. He seems mature and like a great kid. Who knows what his ceiling is? I'm excited to watch him grow. What's not to like? Oh... for fantasy football. It's always good to keep a player or two on your bench that might take off during the season. These are the guys you dump when you have a more pressing need. For Week one, my take: Worst case: 2 rec, 12 yard Best case: 6 rec, 131 yards, 1 TD Best guess: 3 rec 35 yards I give him a ~20% chance of scoring a TD this week, if that's what you're focused on. ~2% chance of scoring 2 TD.

Oh my god! That totally cracked me up! My 7 year old daughter would totally love it and dance around to it, but this is exactly the kind of thing that causes my wife tell me I'm making our daughter weird....

How did you manage to pick 10th if you're the defending champ!?

Best bills WRs from a fantasy perspective?
Matt in KC replied to Wazzu Bill's topic in Fantasy Football
I'd consider a late round flier on Woods in a PPR league or Goodwin in a league that rewards long plays (e.g. TDs over 50 yards). Ohter than that, I don't like any Bills WRs except a later round pick on Stevie (8th round or later). -
QB 8.5 Russel Wilson 10.5 Andy Dalton RB 1.8 Arian Foster 2.5 Matt Forte 3.8 Frank Gore 7.8 Daryl Richardson 13.8 Roy Helu WR 4.5 Victor Cruz 5.8 Dwayne Bowe 6.5 Pierre Garcon 12.5 DeAndre Hopkins TE 9.8 Jermichael Finley 11.8 Jordan Cameron K 15.8 Janikowski DEF 14.5 St. Louis Rams ------------------------------------------------- This is a pay league, my only FF team this year. I decided to focus on RBs. It seems like I can always find a quality WR to add, but am always short on RBs. I think I did better than usual, though I've never waited so late to grab QB or TE before. I'd appreciate any thoughts on my team or drafting strategy.

Brooks is a very young guy, who seems to be playing a high risk, high reward style so far. I think we will see some great defensive plays from him this season. IMO he's a playmaker, and has the best chance for a pick 6 of anyone on the roster right now. If he can just keep raising his floor (making his worst plays less bad) I think he could become an excellent CB. And I think all this based on the very little we've seen him play!

Carpenter: "You gotta watch that number 26. That guy is fast! He's like there, then you look back, and he's gone! Seriously!"
-
This is just step 1. Perhaps Carpenter is just comfortable with us not keeping Powell as his holder!

(Update) Jim Leonard back in Buffalo
Matt in KC replied to RayFinkle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Leonard is a veteran player at a position we're too thin. IMO Duke Williams and Meeks are clearly not ready to play on the varsity team. Add to this Byrd's injury, (and Searcy being average at best) and we had to do something. Still, 6 safeties on the final 53? Wow. -
Why do you say that? i have heard similar on here a few times, but have no idea where you're coming from. I think Williams might well be the MVP of our defense.

Players with multiple stints with the Bills
Matt in KC replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jason Peters? I can't remember if the Giants just signed him to their PS, or if he made it to their roster, then was cut. -
Legursky injury not as bad as originally thought
Matt in KC replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree he's JAG. My best guess is his value right now is to give the Bills negotiating leverage with a lineman they are about to sign. My guess is they sign his replacement and either IR him or reach an injury settlement. (Is he signed for next year too?) -
Fantastic! Eric Wood Fred Jackson Kyle Williams It explicitly says that the Bills players selected Fred and Kyle as captains. I think that's awesome! How much does it say about Fred that the players would select him, an older RB2 as their captain?

Why did the Bills cut their roster to 50 ?
Matt in KC replied to MAGIC MAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to think they did this because they have a very young team, and didn't want any players to feel jerked around. I has to be rough feeling like you made the team, then be told you're cut right after that when you have less chance to catch on elsewhere. When I saw this I suspected they put in 3 waiver claims. I wonder who was snatched up by higher-selecting waiver team that we wanted.... -
I agree with most of this, but am unsure about the last sentence. If I thought the placekick holding was important to my kicker, I'd keep Powell, but on a short leash. Then, if he stinks it up, I'd bring in Kluwe or Zoltan Mesko. I think the whole young team would benefit from the reminder they are replaceable, and their performance and hard work is the only thing keeping them here. If the place-holding is not a big deal, I'd make the move now. I just don't understand what has happened to Powell. What I've been seeing so far is not acceptable. Either way, I'd have Hopkins start practicing with Tuel, Fred Jackson, or someone else, holding.

Thanks for your "scouting report!" -
Bills roster cut down to 50 (-18 then -5 more)
Matt in KC replied to zazie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Waiver claims need to be in by noon Eastern. I don't know how long it takes to process the claims and for us to hear something, but I expect we'll start to hear something in the next hour or two. -
Wood just became a Bill for life!

How about Bryan Scott? We can trade Bryan Scott for him! . . . . -

With the rumored Bryan Scott trade discussion, I'm surprised they wouldn't kee phim on the roster a couple more days to see if the potential partner would blink first and offer a late pick in exchange. I guess they found no interest or only teams playing it very cool waiting for him to be cut. . . . Now let's see if he is signed in a couple days, and by which team. -

That helps us, doesn't it? Only 7 teams have a shot at him before us: Chiefs, Jags, Raiders, Eagles, Lions, Browns, Cardinals. I agree. Blatnick is a surprise to me too. Was he a rookie? I'd love to have him in camp again next year to see if he's ready to play with the big boys. I also would like Thad on the PS, and am a bit surprised he's not being kept on the 53 man roster. I think that means 1) EJ is healthy and 2) they know something about another QB either a vet being brought in -
