  1. I also miss the long thought-out posts and attitude of wanting to discuss, not being afraid to be wrong, and update his opinion if warranted. For long stretch he was also: Fake Fat Sunny(opposite of Real Slim Shaddy).
  2. The Bills haven't won 3 in a row since the start of the 2011 season. I'd love to see them knock the Pats down to the #3 seed and see them get knocked off in the Wildcard round!
  3. It won't change the fortunes of this team how high we pick in the draft; it's about how well we draft. But, the draft and roster don't mean anything unless we turn around our culture and start winning. I have at times thought we might be better losing at the end of the season, but there is no way it is ever better to lose to the Pats or Fins!
  4. In my opinion Trent is a power back without much vision or elusiveness. I think he's very good when holes are opened right where they should be and the defenders either try to arm-tackle him or have a smaller player (e.g. CB) get to him alone without support. He's very hard to tackle if running full speed; but he nothing special, or even below average for starting RBs, if he's figuring it out as he goes. If he has to be patient and/or find a hole on his own, he's sunk.
  5. 7-4 I lost week 5 by 5 points when I didn't realize Calvin Johnson was out, and week 10 by 1 point when Mike James got hurt. I also just can't seem to win week 1 for some reason. I think it's been at least 6-7 years....
  6. Well now I feel stupid. . . .
  7. Stevan Ridely @Car - or - Lamar Miller v.SD James Jones @NYG - or - Hakeem Nicks v.GB - or - DeAndre Hopkins v.Oak (pick 2 of these 3) Cam Newton v.NE - or - Philip Rivers @MIA *Either one. Cam is probably the better play, but I'm sick of playing against the Pats and getting burned. (Still, I think the Pats lose today). Percy Harvin v.MIN - or - Roddy White @TB *White is hurt and really struggling CJ Spiller v.NYJ - or - Fred Jackson v.NYJ - or - Deangelo Williams v.NE - or Shane Vareen @CAr (pick 2 of 4, bye week hurting me here) - Tough choice on the last one. I think CJ is likely best, but I don't know about playing him AND Fred the same week. I'd probably go with Williams, though he hasn't been playing great, and Jonothan Stewart has been getting more and more carries (and Tolbert the goal line). Vareen is way too risky to count on Monday, and the Pats are infuriating how they use RBs. He might get 150 yards, or 12 (or not play).
  8. I have Harvin too. While I understand the appeal, I don't see how you can play him this week. My best guess is 3-4 catches for 40-45 yards and maybe a run for 4 yards. I think Ben Tate is a better choice for this week until we see how quick Harvin is, and how many snaps he plays.
  9. I'd kind of like to see a hybrid of the no-punt and onsides kick option. If you could teach your QB to give a 30-40 yard punt from the shotgun when the other team was not planning to return it, that seems like it would be a great option for say 4th and 5+ around midfield. What I like about it is the element of surprise, and the possibility the defense touches the ball and creates a live ball downfield.
  10. I thought that was great. I hate censorship. This is the correct opposite extreme in my opinion: convincing and reminding people why they should choose something else.
  11. While I like this chart, I want to see the variations based on game situation, in particular whether you're in a high or low-scoring game, and the point differential. I don't think the decision tree looks the same if you are in a low scoring game ahead by 9 points. In that situation, especially if time is running out, the right move is to always punt from inside your 20. I think if someone did the analysis, the numbers would bear it out too. The linked article references this indirectly with the following: All that said of course you likely need to take even more risks than the chart if you're behind with time running out.
  12. Well that was kind of a flip comment. . . .
  13. I lost by 1.1 points. I can't believe James broke his leg 6 inches from the end zone when he was running so well. . . . And he was starting for me because I lost Arian Foster last week. Now I'm left with: Matt Forte* (starting) Chris Ivory* (starting) Shonne Green Donald Brown James Starks Also available: Mike Tolbert, who I don't expect much from given the reintroduction of Jonathan Stewart to the Panthers I don't know if Rainey is really going to get it done. I'm on the fence about picking up Brian Leonard, who I put in a claim for, but got Donald Brown as a higher selection. I just don't think Trent Richardson (3 yds/attempt) is going to stay the lead back over Brown (5.9 yds/attempt).
  14. Thanks for posting the stats; those were interesting. For the bottom two bullets under Points Allowed you call out some factors hurting our standing. You can't however say what our rank would be excluding those scores, unless of course you apply the same forgiveness to the other teams, then re-rank.
  15. Congrats. That's a strong line up. I'm starting James tonight and just need him to get 5 points for me to win and put me in good shape to make the playoffs. Edit: Oh craaaap!
  16. I didn't see this in time to help, but the first ones listed in each category look best to me (Foles, Knowshon, james, Marshall, Hilton, J. Thomas)
  17. ...or with a lower release point. This fancy new test might well identify some amazing side-arm ball-slingers!
  18. I think the Dolphins are still interviewing PR firms to take on this special project, trying to get a call back from the last firm they told "If you F*(K this up, we'll rip all of your heads off and S#*% down your throats, then we'll go slap your real mothers!. . . ."
  19. Very interesting! I didn't notice him. Did anyone else? I'll have to go take another look. . . .
  20. So, Peyton's Neck, how did it play out?
  21. Okay, after today's performance, I changed my vote to Goodwin.
  22. That was a reference to the movie The Jerk, right?
  23. A nice grassy yellow whipped cream just doesn't sound appealing to me. . . . I've been brainwashed!
