  1. [As I posted several weeks ago] What I want to know is if Brown can effectively follow a fullback. It has looked to me like Fred can, and Spiller really can't. If Summers beats Dixon, I have to think it's by being a better pure FB. I really liked Summers when he got the ball last year, it just sounds, from the little info I have read, like Dixon is better at catching the ball, being a RB if needed, and also can play STs.
  2. I remember getting roped into Practical Magic (Bullock, Kidman as witches) on a date and really enjoying it. Rotten Tomatoes shows it at 20% critic score, 73% for audience score.... Not quite on-point, but I have a soft spot for old Doctor Who episodes.
  3. We could talk for hours about that over a beer sometime: the difference between a good movie (or song) and a popular one...
  4. I agree with this. I think we should all take a breath, and let EJ have at least until his second year starts before we demand a veteran presence from him. I would like to see more urgency from EJ, but am far from writing him off or being upset with him, especially regarding anything but his play on the field.
  5. Hear, hear! While she's way too young and inexperienced to be considered for best ever, she has been amazing on Orphan Black! For anyone considering checking it out, definitely start with Season 1. (Season 2 just ended.)
  6. When I read the title, I immediately thought of these two: Best Actresses: Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett - - I like Cate more, but acknowledge Meryl is likely better The actors are harder in my opinion. I'd throw these out for consideration: Best Actors: Anthony Hopkins, Jimmy Stewart, Daniel Day-Lewitt, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, Paul Newman
  7. Thanks for the heads-up. I try to keep my 3 Netflix discs 1) something to watch while on the bike 2) Something my wife and/or daughter would want to watch with me and 3) something I'll watch alone right away. I'll line it up for category 3 instead of 1....
  8. He did actually have a high ankle sprain last year and gutted it out, playing several games even when he was clearly in pain. I was proud of him for doing what he needed to do for the team, and credit much of that attitude to Fred Jackson's leadership honestly. I think I hold a middle-of-the-road position: CJ is a great RB when used as a specialized weapon. He's not refined enough to be an every situation "bell cow" for the offense to follow, but is still very valuable. I am more critical of the coaches than of CJ himself. CJ is a boxing "hay maker," which isn't the main tool you use to win a match, but has it's place.
  9. I really like Chandler, so long as he's not slowing down (his running). I know he was recovering, but he really looked like he was lumbering down the field at times last year. If he's any faster this year, and not slowing down due to injury/age (he's turning 29), he's a really good weapon. For whatever reason, EJ seems very comfortable with him, which is worth a lot.
  10. I'd love for the NE coaches to start monkeying with Brady's mechanics! "Try this: hop, hop, flick! Stick with that for 4-5 games and let's see if you're getting better results. It will take awhile for it to feel natural...."
  11. Holy crap, I'm so sorry! I'm so glad she "only" has whiplash and bruising, but that might be a bigger deal than you think in the first few days or even weeks. Who called you, and what did they say? This has to be any parents' worst nightmare. I'm sure the world would go slow-motion as soon as I understood what the person was saying to me.... For a collision like that, how could they drive away? They make the glass that way to avoid injuries. Car safety has come a long ways.
  12. He's everything we wanted Mark Anderson to be....
  13. I agree I'd all but remove the QB running plays from the playbook. EJ has the size to take defenders on (not that it's smart) but doesn't look comfortable with contact at all. I don't think EJ was playing it safe "all the time," but yeah, sometimes.

  15. Unstoppable is clearly the wrong word for CJ. He's exciting, dynamic, and I'll even give him versatile, but he's not hard to bring down, nor does he have great vision. That term would be more apropos to Fred Jackson, Lynch or even Travis Henry when he was here. I'm very glad CJ is on the team and think he could have a very big year. I don't think he'll be used like he was last year very much.
  16. This is close to where I am. Over the course of last season, EJ almost never appeared settled in, like a hockey player on his first few shifts of a new season. I'm impressed with his ability to stay cool under pressure. Now I'd like to see him show more urgency, fighting all-out for a win. I haven't seen any "playoff hockey" from EJ, and very little with him flowing at all - - enough to know it's there, but nowhere near a full game. He seems slow to warm up. For a rookie, I think EJ's looked fine, better than I expected actually. I think we'll continue to see improvement in his second year, and might well see a big jump once he settles in.
  17. I'll check it out the Master. I love movies that make me think, and love Hoffman, Phoenix and Adams. Is it up-tempo? I'll check out A History of Violence. Based on the Netflix blurb, this sounds like a better up-tempo choice for me to watch on the exercise bike....
  18. Run Lola Run The Luzhin Defense Monsieur Ibrahim Thank you for Smoking https://www.youtube....h?v=iBELC_vxqhI Mentioned already Primer - low budget, but engaging. I felt like I was watching what would happen if the guys at my start-up discovered time travel Red Violin - Watched this at the DC film festival where the director spoke Once - probably belongs in the below category Well-known/non-sleepers that are well worth watching: Memento Eastern Promises Thin Red Line Far From Heaven - I watched this at a DC independant film club and didn't realize all the award nominations until I just looked it up
  19. If you mean 875 Billion, I think that's likely too high. If you meant 875 Billion Billion ($875 Quintillion), that's definitely too high. If you just meant $875 (to be higher than the people bidding one dollar?), then carry on. . . .
  20. Common man, your a maroon! I can see arguing (unsuccessfully!) that runners get past him or whether his role is to penetrate or tie up linemen/gaps, but you seem to be in outer space. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Kyle-Williams-named-to-NFLs-Top-100/b9e7d506-eb39-490a-a0e6-722f4abb8f6f ...but he really should have done more, and shouldn't be a starter because of the team rushing yards allowed ranking... .
  21. I think I might need to update my bid!
  22. $1,115,000,000 - Pegula Wow that's a big number!
  23. Yes, almost all of my opinion was based on preseason. Since I really don't remember the details well, I print the roster and tally clearly good or bad plays by quarter, using different symbols to track if it was a pass or running play. I then use these to inform my final roster guesses. Let me see if I can find my old sheets....
  24. That sounds right. I know I was actually higher on Meeks than Duke, but can't remember what made me think that. And with all the media "buzz" about Duke stepping up, I haven't heard anything about Meeks.
