(OT) How many people do you count?
Matt in KC replied to Tux of Borg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gggrrreaauw! I'm sure you have it, but I can't see it even when you tell me! is this some type of Jedi mind trick? -
Yes, I was at both of those. Also one with CSN, if I recall correctly. I was playing hackey sack for 4-6 hours at each show. I believe the DVD show was the one where I got a horrible sunburn, and was very dehydrated (lost 11 pounds from leaving Rochester in the AM to returning around midnight). But, I had an awesome time. Not Fade Away at the end was great. I also remember everyone mooing and baaaing like cows and sheep while being hurded out after the show. Good times!

BEST VILLAIN OF ALL TIME
Matt in KC replied to ROSCOE P. COE TRAIN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the clear leaders for most archetypical villain are: Hitler, Satan, Darth Vader I can't really say best villain for Hilter and Satan, maybe worst(?).... I'll offer for consideration, Jade Fox (from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). She's the first woman we've mentioned. What does that say? Along these lines, I'll also throw out there the wicked witch of the west. -
Excellent. My favorite widely available: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Other favorites: Saranac Pilsner (when it can be found) Brooklyn Pilsner Another great one (though pricey): Spatan Anyone ever have Le Fin du Monde by Unibroue? It's great. But, be warned, it has twice the typical alcohol content for beer, almost as much as some white wine (9%).

It's nice to be here.

Let the false reporting begin again.......
Matt in KC replied to AstrosShortstop's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm suprised no one else responded. I thought that was hilarious. -
I'll be landing in Paris, then travelling to southern France. I would have watched and/or followed on-line, but instead will look for an American paper Monday or Tuesday.....

A couple points I haven't heard anyone mention: Travis is extremely strong. I think he bench presses 435 lbs. (Anyone else remember this?) Travis seemed to like contact and would often play stronger after he got hit a couple times. His endurance was good and he would often do well late in games when the opponents looked tired of throwing themselves at him. I'd say he hit as hard as most LBs, so if the hit wasn't square, he'd keep rolling, and definitely gave as many hits as he took. Negatives: as others have alluded to, Travis does not have good balance, or vision.

And to put a finer point on it, if there are going to be state of the art (expense) luxury boxes etc., the Bills need to pull from a larger pool of people and market to a larger fan base to maximize their earning power. Hell, I'm from SE Rochester and I love the Bills. Do you have a big problem with that, Live&DieBillsFootball? Are you too lazy to drive a little farther yourself, or feel like your Buffalo identity is being shaken by including us Kodak and Xerox children on your "team"? Let's keep the Buffalo name for heritage sake, but frankly, it takes the whole region to support our Bills. Go Bills! -
And adding on to this: We also play Miami in week 5 after they have a bye week 4 ...and San Diego in week 11 after their week 10 bye
-
Yeah, and the week after they have a bye (and we don't).

Summer Vacation...where are you planning on going?
Matt in KC replied to Hardy Pyle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My wife and I are going to southern France for a week and a half, checking out the Provence region mainly. For the last four days we'll be meeting up with two other couples, who are some of our closest friends, and will be sharing a house in a medieval city. Anyone have any suggestions for things to check out? I've never been to Europe and am very excited. We leave in three weeks. Okay, does that mean it doesn't qualify as a summer vacation? -
It doesn't sound like the two sides are far apart. Tell me Arizona would be okay with a player for player trade, but wouldn't throw in a swap or 6th round picks. They could end up swapping 3rd or 4th round picks on draft day....

Couldnt find Dentist? I've had a root canal and have experienced the profound pain of needing a tooth yanked, so to an extent, I can sympathize. But still...

I agree with you on all counts and thought the same things. I'm 99% sure she was nominates for the House of Sand and Fog, in which she was excellent. I can't understand why her character wouldn't try to shoot Jack. That just didn't make any sense to me.

Honestly WTF is up with all the Henry bashing
Matt in KC replied to zevo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll cast my vote here. Stuff like this: and all of the "lock up your daughters at night" crap is sophmoric, over-the-top and lazy ad hominim attacks. Yes, Travis has flaws, as do we all. As far as being a good value for the Bills (performance per $), he was one of the best I can rememeber in the last decade (before last year). -
Travis Henry is like... so 2003!

OT - Going to New Orlean for First Time Tonight
Matt in KC replied to Matt in KC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think if I had anything to do differently, it would have been more food and less cheap mixed drinks. We had some of the best food of our lives and should have focused on quality alcohol, not quantity (or both ). Also, we lost a half day of our 3 day vacation because of over-drinking. Which, btw, my wife was great about. Apparently I was entertaining enough to make it worth it to her.... -
OT - Going to New Orlean for First Time Tonight
Matt in KC replied to Matt in KC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought I'd let you guys know how NewOrleans went. Overall it was awesome, with 2 of the 3 days sunny and around 70 degrees. We went to the voodoo museum, which was pretty out there, but interesting. Did you know that voodoo doctors would originally put pins into dolls to keep a record of a person's medical history, not to try to cause anything (e.g. pin in right forearm to record a broken arm)? We drank hurricanes at Pat O'Brien's on St. Patrick's Day, starting at noon. My wife said I had 6-7, and no lunch or dinner, but my memory is a little foggy between the fourth one and waking up while running to the bathroom in our hotel room that evening. This is pretty out of character for me, but I had a blast, and had the most reasonable serious hangover ever. Our nice meals out were to the Palace Cafe and a restaurant called 201. Both were excellent, and the prices seemed reasonable with no wine on the bill (see above). Other highlights: taking the Charles Avenue streetcar for a $1.25 tour of the garden district, and walking around checking out the awesome houses Muffalettas a couple places (yumm!) Marti Gras World (overpriced at $15 each) Short visit to Harrah's ($15 minimums at the craps tables) Heard some good live jazz at Fritzels and at a cafe near the market entertaining street performers Thanks for the suggestions!
