Did they say "reports indicate" that he is/will be fired?

Buffalo always takes people too high, so...

I couldn't agree more with [McGee and McGahee]. Evans played very well for a second year WR. 750 yards, 15.5 yd average and 7 TD is nothing to sneeze at, and are much better than Moulds in his first two years. (Actually his numbers are nearly identical to Andre Reed's second year.) Lee Evans is exactly what you hope for with a first round WR. If I had to criticize anything, it would be the penalties he took -
Okay, so it looks like Nate had a return average under 10 yards per return in '03 and '04, less than I remember. But, according to the NFL Punt Return stats page his averages in those years would make him the the sixth or ninth best punt returner in the league this year. Roscoe Parrish's return average of 13.3 yards is much better than I would have guessed (with the relatively low number of returns, that 43 yarder really helps). Why do you think Roscoe is not listed on the NFL stats page? The lowest number of returns I see on that page is 19 (versus Roscoe's 12). Do you think the cut-off for minimum number of returns to qualify is between 12 and 19?? Is Roscoe the league's top punt returner, or is something screwed up with that stat page?

I like Nate, and think he has tremendous talent... but, taking the position of Bills management, why wouldn't we have Nate return punts this year? He was clearly better than anyone we have fielded. Also, and I know this is an unpleasant angle, leaving him in this role might also pressure him to sign a new contract because of the increased risk of getting hurt. To try to answer this question myself, my two best guesses are: 1) Losing Kevin Thomas made an injury to Nate a devastating possibility, the same as TKO's injury (I believe) caused us to pull Fletcher out of the kick return wedge. 2) Suspecting we'll be without Nate in 2006, we're looking for a move permanent replacement in this role (and Fast Freddie doesn't look like he'll cut it). Doesn't his contract situation negate the usual concern about exposing one of your stars to a greater likelihood of injury?

You mean this isn't a plot to reduce Coy's market value so we can re-sign him to a cheap contract?

Bills tried to extend Jason Peters

I think he's been by far the best O-Lineman on the Bills this year (if not him, then... Teague???). I'd love to see us offer him a 4 year contract. He's performing better than I would expect most 2nd round rookies to, and I think we should pay him as much. -
What makes you think they're trying to win?

What time does Ask the GM hit the site?
Matt in KC replied to GG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is that because it didn't practice during the week? -
"I was proud of the way the team played. After practicing hard all week, they came out and showed we could play with one of the best teams in the league. We had a good chance to win this game, but unfortunately we weren't able to capitalize on our opportunities. You have to hand it to the Broncos....

If you don't mind teaching me a bit: what happens if a player retires? Do they have to return some of their bonus(es) and reduce/remove their cap hit? -

BILLS in '65 Throwback Uniforms tonite ..
Matt in KC replied to XNorthBuffaloLad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL said no. You can request an exception to the twice per year rule, but it must be done at least a year in advance. -
Welcome to the message board. Yes, a few people here commented on Tucker's signing: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=3689 http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=36903 I agree - - I was disappointed he was let go. I wondered if there was something else to this story (critical of coaches? just not healing well? Drove JPL crazy w Howard Cosell impressions after each game...?)

Lee Evans. Underachiever.
Matt in KC replied to nick in* england's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So the quote about Evans "wanting for a good quarterback" makes you think we need another receiver, or do you mean that we need to add a QB to our shopping list. While it's too early to make any conclusions about Evans, it is ridiculously too early to decide how JP is going to turn out in the league. -
Who on the Bills are you not disgusted with..
Matt in KC replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Disgusted is a strong word.... My own personal shitlist: Daimon Shelton Troy Vincent Mike Williams Bennie Anderson Coaching/Management These players that have performed better than I expected: Jason Peters Eric King Josh Reed Lindell (* barely makes the list) Angelo Crowell Still strong: Lee Evans Nate Clements Terrence McGee London Fletcher Two players who I've supported over the last year, but my bubble is bursting: Jeff Posey Trey Teague Departed, who probably got a bum wrap from the pitchfork-wheilding in Buffalo: Drew Bledsoe Wade Phillips Doug Flutie (bravo to whoever posted the stats recently) Departed, who I miss the most: Pat Williams Rusty Jones Kevin Gillbride (yuck, I can't even joke about it ) -
You mean the rookie center who's only practiced at guard? Seriously?

Which Team Will Eric Moulds Play For In 2006?
Matt in KC replied to Nanker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have think he and RW might get to 4-5 of those when they talk on Friday.... -
Don-a-ho, you must go!

Won't it be funny if Molds goes to new Orleans?
-
This is true from the employers perspective if you are trying to avoid turnover. Does anyone know the impact on Mould's salary/cap hit if he retires?
-
He also thinks we continued to blitz Miami the entire second half. Remember: he's an offensive genius (offensive, indeed).
-
I was thinking the exact same thing. Unfortunately speed doesn't "do it" if arm-tackles knock you down every time. McGee succeeds because he can absorb/deliver a hit, stay balanced and relaunch on a new course.

If the Bills moved out of Buffalo , and New York..
Matt in KC replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would still root for some of the players I knew as Bills, but would not care about the organization/franchise. I think after 2 years I'd feel about the same as I do now about the Vikings. -
200 Yards! 200 Yards! 200 Yards!
Matt in KC replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It looked like JP didn't get very good protection after Preston went in. I think JP could be great in the NFL with a good line (and maybe Terry Glenn streaking down the sideline...?) It's unfortunate the pass was picked off. It really highlighted for me the difference in JP's play vs. the start of the year. In the first three games, he would have thrown that ball right at the pylon, and very hard, where maybe his reciever could catch it, but certainly no one else would. He's been so much better throwing to his recievers and not overthinking or shying away from the INTs. I think that throw is a growing pain for sure. ..the pendulum swings back, and JP needs to be coached to worry about the INTs, and protecting the ball, in certain situations.
