I'd say it starts next week. My guess: every time the clock runs down, the island loses power (which runs the computer, bunkers, radio signal, black smoke?, whatever helpshide the Others) and a huge magnetic burst is released, pulling another craft to the Island. I think the Others (Zeke etc.) are mainly people from the black rock pirate / slave ship.

Losman's dramatic improvement
Matt in KC replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree this sounds like total BS. And the Wonderlic is a classic example of an intelligence test. btw Wikipedia says 20 is the equivalent of a 100 IQ. 22 might be the NFL average, which I'd expect to be a bit higher than the national averge (most coming from college --> NFL). -
The Wonderlic is just another tool that is used to try to predict performance. In Peters' case, we have actual performance to judge, which is a much much better predictor. I think Peters was our best O-Lineman last year (and yes, I know that’s not saying too much). I hope we give him a decent contract, and lock him up. He could mature here, and command a huge salary on another team when he hits FA if we don’t. IMO landing Peters easily adds as much value to the team as having an additional 1st round draft pick (solid performance without the excessive $$)..

You work for AT&T (SBC), Lori? I'm very aware of the tracking of occurrences for AT&T....

I'll say Under. A lot has to go right to win consistently. One one thing wrong (injuries, a bad coordinator, bad coach, a bad draft, bad luck) can mean losses.

How many "new" posters are actually new???

Will Outkast share with us Outkast's infinite football wisdom? Has Outkast spoken? -
Did I mis something? Isn't Reed an Unrestricted Free Agent? I hope we bring him back at a reasonable price, but assume he'll get picked up by another team for #2 WR $$.

Here is a sad offensive stat to ponder.
Matt in KC replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love to see Peters and Everett in at TE for the Bills. If Peters could line up next to a healthy MW and Villareal, it's hard to image we couldn't consistently gain 5 yards running to the right (so long as WMcG doesn't trip over Shelton). But, back from my fantasy... Peters is too valuable as a lineman and is the only one I'm convinced can return and hold his own on the O-line next year. Trying to be realistic, my hope is that Gandy plays as well as last year, and is our weakest lineman. We need to catch a small break, and have either Villareal or MW return to the line healthy next year. If they do, we only have two more spots on the line we have to fill, which is as much as I feel like you can really address in a single off-season. For me, the 2006 season starts: Gandy / new / new / Villarial / Peters or Peters / new / new / Villarial? / MW (yes, $$ needs adjustment) should start: new / new / new / Villarial? / Peters man, this sucks! -

I wholeheartedly disagree. Peters was much better than MW last year. I will concede that his run blocking is still not as good as MW provided when he was healthy. Peters was, by far the best O-lineman on the team last year. He was consistently 5-10 yards downfield on run plays, moreso than any other lineman. He was looing for a second player to distroy after busting through the D-Line. If anything, my criticism of Peters is that he is a bit lost when no one engages him on run plays. The other place it looks like he needs more coaching is on short yardage plays. He's pretty good on these, but I remember twice last year the defender getting lower than him and plugging up the goaline. Peters was looking for the defender to take him on, when instead they got to the space around his ankles faster. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we can land someone in this year's draft who does better in their first year. -
What Defines a Successful Season IYHO?
Matt in KC replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I chose Other. You need to play well enough that you can respect yourself, and earn respect from your opponents. Whether you win or lose, this is far more important. Every circumstance and opponent is different. Given the Bills' current situation (young QB, new coaches) I think a winning season would be a success in 2006. In a more typical year I'd expect the playoffs, and if we were selling the future (cap-wise), I'd want even more than that to call the year a success. Of course, these are the outcomes. I think what the Bills put in is much more important to earn my respect. -
Jerry Sullivan made a great point in his column

While I mostly agree, I think you've overstated a few points. I wouldn't have had any issue with your post if you had said: -
Well, the self-proclaimed "bowling ball rolling downhill covered in razorblades" is apparently under the knife himself, trying return to a position to make a play. I guess this is being in the gutter for him, right? I always liked Travis's spirit, punishing the defenders. I hope he comes back strong.

The Noah's Ark thread stayed near the top for amost a week too, and got a ton of posts when everyone got worked up about Creationism, Intelligent design and religious tolerence (or lack thereof). I think that one was pre-crash, and is probably lost...

Could Someone Here Respond to Simmons

Someone please post a witty reply to boomerjamhead for me.... -
Time to use your backup plan! Seriously, were they on your c:\ drive and not backed up? If you right-click on the drive, does it look like the space is still used, or free? Under Tools / folder options... is the check box selected to show hidden files and folders?

I really think the podium is going to do well with another team. This move smacks of meddling from podium-placers.

I vividly remember this play and the discussion of the rule. If the ball crosses the (infinite) goaline, then it is a touchdown if a) the ball was between (or on or over) the pilons b) when the ball crosses the goaline a part of the player is over a pilon The play references was an excellent heads-up play made by Michael Vick. As he dove out of bounds of the left sideline, he stretched the ball forward in his left hand to cross the goaline before he hit the ground. He simultaneously stretched out his right hand so it was over the pilon. Touchdown! So, does anyone know if this the same rule for a catch at midfield? If the player jumps out of bounds a foot behind the first down marker and their foot crosses the first down marker on the sideline before they land, is this a first down (assuming the ball crosses before they hit the ground.

I agree to the extent that you're saying Peters would be a significant upgrade at TE. But, it's harder to replace a RT than a TE. Would you rather go shopping for another RT? I do think they ought to have Peters learn a running play and a pass play from the TE position. It would be interesting to see the Bills slide Peters over on occasion and have Big Mike Williams lined up between him and the RG (run right, Willis! run right!).

Or on the flip side, a coordinator might have an inside shot at getting the HC position after a year of showing his stuff with the Bills....

http://www.salisburypost.com/2001april/040101london.htm Krumrie was quite involved in "approving" Tim Anderson per the reports at the time, but I don't know about Banaan.
-
Didn't Krumrie jump on Keith McKenzie's back (or was it someone else?) to see if he was healthy enough to come back in training camp?

irregardless • adjective & adverb informal regardless. — ORIGIN probably a blend of IRRESPECTIVE and REGARDLESS.

I agree. People often say either a coach or a player is good, and you can tell because of their winning record. It's amusing that much of this thread is people saying Levy was a good coach, followed by disagreeing "it was the HOF players" responses. Well, you have to win to go to the HOF. For a given play or game, player talent alone could make the difference, but not for a whole year, let alone 4+. To absurdly state the flip-side: Levy could not have won any games if his O-Line were monkeys (and would never have gone to the HOF if they played them). Jim Kelly could not have won many games if those Bills had Fred Rogers calling the plays (and would never have gone to the HOF ). In order to win consistently, especially over time, requires both good coaching and good talent, compared to the competition. This is how I know Marv was a good coach. Judging his individual Bills is harder (though I am certain Bruce was a monster in his prime). I for one would be happy to have Marv advise the Bills, to minimize the chance that our team coaching / leadership is our "monkey" | Mr. Rogers.

This just in: I could eat 50 eggs.... Seriously, I'd be happy to see Marv come in as the new President of the Bills, and help Ralph hire a new GM and help guide the Bills back into the light (or is it avoid going into the light...?)
