  1. I don't think they can be sure about Pettine until they've interviewed him a fifth time, and maybe had his kids in for background checks.
  2. Thank you for your service, @ByTimGraham
  3. Let me say this about any responses that come across as racist. I really don't feel Sherman is being held down by anybody here. He is a showboater, and some people don't like that. Regardless, he's in a pretty good position if he doesn't squander it. But just as Sherman's statement in the moment says something about him, anything anyone says about the matter, with plenty of time to consider their thoughts, is more a reflection of themselves than it is a statement about Sherman.
  4. It would be SO like Cleveland to settle for Paul Brown when Vince Lombardi is there for the taking.
  5. I think if he weighs the information Buddy is giving him and balances it with info from other people he trusts, that there really can't be anything wrong with that, as long as Whaley is making the final decisions.
  6. For some reason, this phrase conjures up this image:
  7. That sounds like a great idea. I can almost visualize a late-night coaching session: DF: You're doing it wrong. Honestly, I could do it better if Marrone would just give me a chance. Empty Room: _____________________
  8. Careful is the world. To clarify, though, Lacy was also helping buoy that team in Rodgers' absence. I think the guy was a great value pick and a pretty good indication that excellent backs can and should be gotten outside of the top half of the first round.
  9. So.. put 'em behind a great line? Eddie Lacy looked dynamite this year. I don't think you can paint with a broad brush. No more than you could say Kyle Boller was indicative of Aaron Rodgers' future success.
  10. I keep seeing this thread title and momentarily thinking that Donte is the latest to have gotten caught up in a cell phone photo scandal.
  11. Actually the Browns are Bunny Lebowski. They owe money all over town, including to known pornographers.
  12. In this analogy, Pettine should also remember he was at the bar last time when Chud went home with the Browns.
  13. I'm referring to more than what I've seen in just thos thread. Still, "ghetto culture"? I see more in common in Sherman's with WWF than with that, whatever it means.
  14. It's not. In this context it's generally pretty clear what people are getting at, though.
  15. I don't think you can call all critics of Sherman racist, but I imagine you can apply that term to people who think that he was repping the Bloods, or are casually tossing off that he is from Compton.
  16. I'm a little dumbfounded that Pettine doesn't feel he has more than the Cleveland offer in his back pocket. Win with Buffalo and improve that run defense next season and you probably have your pick of any job out there. The two #1s help, and they have a lot of talent, but it's all tied to that dumbsh-- of an owner.
  17. Top 10 vs Top 11-12 is really semantics. These are top picks for the Bills in the first half of the draft. Maybin was drafted to collect sacks. Evans was drafted to be a #1 receiver. Whitner was drafted with hopes of being an Ed Reed / Polamalu talent. These are all guys expected to be playmakers. Value on a pick isn't written in stone on draft day. If the Bills draft the equivalent of a Jim Ritcher or a Will Wolford at #9, it will be a resounding success and people won't remember or care if we could have had the same guy at pick #16. Now, if you think a HOF playmaker is there and your system will permit him to flourish - instead of getting stuffed at the line... sure, go for it, don't pick the lineman.
  18. Guh? Sincerely, CJ Spiller, Lee Evans, "Playmaker" Aaron Maybin, Donte Whitner, Marshawn Lynch
  19. If it were as easy As you suggest, there would be zero need for db coaches, or even schemes, at the NFL level. It's all about man to man, who's fastest and biggest, do I have this right?
  20. Pretty much. If only we had a world of classy people who didn't work hard at their jobs and weren't the best at it.
