  1. Maybe since sports are a shell of the fun that they used to be, and every damn aspect of the gameday experience is monetized, it is only natural that a guy who makes rock and roll as product should own a franchise. Gross.
  2. Thanks, man. No comments on Anna, she's a professional and I work with her.
  3. No. I also don't think he was faking the injury, though. I do feel like he was taking it easier on himself to preserve his viability as a long-term investment, when he decided that the team was not making a long-term investment in him that he felt was commensurate with his value. Tell me if this would sit right with you: You find out that your co-workers, many of whom you have out-performed, are making more money than you. Your contract is up. You would like to explore your value -- to other employers and perhaps to stay, if you think your current place of work would make a better offer knowing you are thinking of leaving. Your employer says, "Nope - we'll give you really good money for a year, but no commitments after that. And you either come work for us at that salary, or you don't work, period." And they are in control. Look, I know the NFL is not normal work. The compensation is very much outsized compared to the ratio of compensation to work that most of us get out of our day jobs. But he has a limited window of that earning power. I understand why players hate the tag -- that's all I'm saying. For some context, I also wanted the Bills to tag Byrd again, because I didn't want them to give something away for nothing given the safeguards in the CBA.
  4. I love how the rational response that any of us would have to a restriction of their earning power at work, relative to their peers, gets twisted around. Byrd was obviously worth more than the Bills were offering, because NO paid it. Byrd was within his rights to express his displeasure, just as the team was within its rights to place the tag on him. I think it's just kind of a crappy system all around.
  5. See, I feel like they just prove that he's good at making money and duping people out of theirs. Every time someone chooses to remember the 80s for JBJ over Talking Heads, a small puppy dies.
  6. Just pimping this podcast I work on, in case any of you DBT / Isbell fans are interested in hearing it. It's a nice conversation and we try to take the subjects out of the polite places to somewhere more interesting. Interested to hear your responses... 7. Gross ticket sales are in any way related to musical acumen? Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are pretty close to cementing her status among the greats, then. He's written some songs with melody and staying power, but musically and lyrically this dude is just as basic as they come. He's worked hard at becoming a money-making power, but if it was ever about music for JBJ, it ceased to be so a long time ago.
  8. Either him or Prince, but the purple one's heart belongs to the Vikings. Still, Pancakes Day at the Ralph would be amazing.
  9. Classic examples of music I would never choose to listen to.
  10. Any time it needs to be said, I'll be there. Whoopty do. The team has to want to sell to him, he probably needs to have the max bid, and whatever stipulations Ralph had placed in the trust have to be considered. If Ralph was hoping for a new owner whose major claim to fame is that he has miraculously not OD'd on hairspray, then I imagine JBJ has the inside track. If the team is to be sold to an owner who isn't plotting to relocate, then I imagine he does not. The thing that does bother me is that Ralph was very much involved in the Bills in Toronto series, so it's not as though it was his case all along that the Bills belonged in and to Buffalo alone.
  11. The team has somehow managed to go 6-10 many times over sans the Hard Knocks distractions. I'll totally use a friend's hbo go account and watch.
  12. Because if you want to win now, not having your starting free safety for 6-10 games, not having him in camp, and not knowing exactly when you're going to have him in game shape are all worse than the prospect of living without him and moving on.
  13. Bingo. Trent's upside was... Trent Dilfer. You mean people who are taking a big...
  14. I know there are a bunch of Isbell fans here. I am finishing up a mix of a new show for WNYC called Death, Sex & Money (we have a few episodes out), and just figured I'd give you all a heads-up that Isbell and his wife are featured on the show that comes out this next week. (Can subscribe on ITunes, etc).
  15. If your smash mouth football player is getting his mouth smashed by the cops after attempting to flee, smashing powder up his nose, or smashing through any semblance of goodwill the team is creating in the community, it ain't worth it. For example, I'm among the people who wished it had worked out here for Marshawn Lynch, but there's kind of a threshold of being a dummy, where once you surpass it, you're not going to get many other chances. The Seahawks have lucked out, and Marshawn still might be facing some more discipline when all is said and done.
  16. He will go on to fame and fortune with the Kamar Aikens of the world. He could be part of a Voltron of preseason WR all-stars.
  17. Yes, but the Indica strains are more conducive to pain relief as well.
  18. I suppose the reason so many players get addicted to legal prescription opiates is also just to "get high" based on your appalling lack of evidence. But what else is new!
  19. Somewhat. I think people are able to evaluate Andy Dalton and AJ Green both in isolation and together, no? Dalton is a "jury is out" / "maybe good enough for playoffs but can't win you the big one" guy. Green is a bona fide generational talent. Everybody knows this. It's my hope (and that of the FO) that Watkins helps EJ become more than what Dalton is.
