  1. Cherry picking stats is fun. But going with average yards per season doesn't tell the whole story and you know it. You don't get to average his yards per season and ignore his YPC. Not when he's clearly not been the A1 feature back for most of that time - a point that even you would concede.
  2. For the EJ haters: y'all are lucky Jimbo started in 1986 and not 1983, is all I'm gonna say.
  3. Turning productive high draft picks into lesser ones is cool. It's the Buffalo way.
  4. I'm still amazed that Rashaan Salaam got brought up in this thread. I'm hoping someone will mention Rahsaan Roland Kirk.
  5. Smoking pot: throw the book at him. Smacking around his wife? Make him promise never to do it again, and do just little enough for a token punishment. Josh Gordon and Dareus get a lot of flack around here and I'm not going to argue that they haven't acted stupidly, but Rice's crime is real, indisputably wrong, and cowardly. It's exactly the kind of conduct that the NFL should be trying to eliminate among its employees. They need to prioritize and start distinguishing between victimless crimes, and those that cause more than just a PR black eye.
  6. Kevin Massare @KevinMassare 9m God, my hand hurts from having to high-five myself so much.
  7. Moeaki is following the Shawne Merriman guide to unearned millions.
  8. I'm going to petition for everyone to make sure that they put "rocker" in scare-quotes henceforth, where the term applies to one Jon Bongiovi. To neglect this request is to irrevocably offend real rockers, everywhere. We will also accept "so-called rocker," "hairspray addict," and "noted clown."
  9. Since that solution failed (and I don't think anyone can characterize it otherwise), do you have any idea what other kinds of inroads can be made to that market? The NF stadium idea seems to be one...

  11. Thank you. I feel like I'm on some kind of bus full of bitter ex-girlfriends. I'm going to miss Byrd when he's in the playoffs for the first time in his career. Whitner I don't mind sh--ting on because he was a poor leader who led with his mouth, first, and his play second, and he was above average at best. Byrd was recognized by his peers and by the media as being one of the top 5 or so at his position.
  12. Well, rest easy, since we've got Jairus Byrd back there.
  13. Anybody who sees Wawrow needs to buy him a beer for me. I'll paypal you. I'm serious. And make them put on the 'Mats at the bar.
  14. It's fine to have opinions, but I think basing your opinions on camp reports is like depending on a secondary source for your news or your historical information. It's always filtered and hence up for debate. Seeing things with your own eyes and identifying them holds much more weight. I think you show some nuance in your perspective, even if it tends negative. Others don't, and are just going to come here with all the reasons they think EJ sucks. They will disappear or change their tune if he plays well, and they will reappear when he struggles. I base my opinions on those of people who break down the film or the All-22 shots, and those have generally been mixed for EJ. He's shown ups and downs, which is consistent with the idea that he was not meant to be thrown into the fire last year, and that he was going to take some time to develop. I agree with you that there should be a better plan B, and that Kolb was a shaky one at best.
  15. No, I assume that Frank Reich played in a very successful college program and was thought to have some pedigree, not unlike Murray. Hence the reasons why these guys went earlier than the nether regions of the draft. Murray was thought of as a 1-3 round pick the season prior, before suffering a major injury. McCarron and Mettenberger also played at major SEC programs and faced tough defenses week in and week out. Again, undrafted Thad Lewis and 7th rounder Jeff Tuel could prove to be adequate, but the smart money is on the idea that they aren't.
  16. Hey guys I'm right all the time and you should totally follow me, and I'm totally not annoying!
  17. Promo, here's a question for you: Would you have been just as comfortable without Frank Reich, and with, say, Gale Gilbert at #2 and Brian McClure at #3? Because that's really what we're talking about, here, except for that the current starter is far less proven than JK was. I think it's not unreasonable to have hoped that the Bills had done more to address the position. If Lewis turns out to be found money, that's terrific. This still doesn't prove that that's a great strategy.
  18. While we're dealing in hypotheticals, I'm pretty sure if they drafted Aaron Murray or Mettenberger or McCarron, and Ross Cockrell had some kind of rookie of the year campaign for some other team, no one would bat an eye. Because late round picks are generally flyers.
  19. Pat Williams and Ted Washington, boy they looked like a million bucks.
