  1. Personally, I'd rather jettison Burns and re-up with Tim Tindale.
  2. Rich, I am trying to protect common sense. You can't "profile" members of a religion, at least not in terms of public searches. The authorities can do everything possible in terms of intel and gravitate toward and communicate with the communities that are potential hotspots. But the idea of actually profiling Muslims in the way that other ethnic or racial groups have been profiled is absurd, because it is not one of those groups. This is like talking to a wall.
  3. FFS, you have got to have the record for the most words ever written about a backup defensive end.
  4. Well, looks like they may have been smart financially. I'm still not sold on the effects of this on the team.
  5. Sorry, whoops. "Political operatives." It still applied to what I said before.
  6. 17. Pass out after one too many Labatt's. 16. When the DJ puts on "Sweet Child O' Mine," air guitar and leg kicks.
  7. Maybe you don't, but I think it'd be safe to say it's not what this administration had in mind. It will certainly not do much for women's standing in the country, that is for sure. Considering that's one area the administration has championed, I think it would rank as a pretty significant failure.
  8. My one last thought on this one is that the Eagles had plenty of past record to base this one on: - His relationships with past coaches, QBs were stormy - The ridiculous showboating out on the star at midfield at Texas Stadium - The "sharpie" incident - Consistent mouthing off to the media - Trade / money demands in SF, trade / money demands in Balt. On the field, TO plays hard, but he always has to remain the center of attention. Nothing has changed in that respect. Philly took a big gamble and now they have a mess on their hands. If they had won the title last year, I think things might have been different -- T.O. might have wanted more money, but feeling that he brought home a winner, they might have given it to him. But if Philly didn't see this coming at all they are a bunch of grade-A morons.
  9. Way to miss the point. Because blowing up buildings or taking out random civilians with a sniper rifle are certainly more honorable. Keep firing blanks.
  10. No, we should only be profiling young male radical Muslim extremists. I'll be on the lookout for them, I tell you me.
  11. Oh wait, I forgot, my driver's license does list me as a Unitarian. My bad.
  12. Please explain to me how you do "racial" profiling of a religious group made up of people who are black, white, and everything in-between. Take a look at the London bombing culprits. Duh. When we're getting religious groups mixed up with ethnic groups, mixed up with nationalities, stupid is as stupid does, indeed.
  13. Apparently it's based on a book. The preview and the pedigrees of the participants look interesting. Don't know if it has any sort of political slant at all. Comments on the book or preview? Preview can be watched here.
  14. No question the guy is a top-class jerk, but I wonder if the Eagles would consider guaranteeing some or all of his contract, and if this would make him change his mind at all. I've heard this is a major problem for a lot of NFL players, i.e. the responsibility for loyalty in the relationship is placed entirely on the players, and skirted by the ballclubs. If some of the problem here is that T.O. could get injured or have an off year and the Eagles could cut him or try to force renegotiations, then perhaps they could guarantee the contract and it would be worth what he signed for, no concern on that end. If it's ALL about getting more money, it's probably more difficult, and he should be faulted for signing a contract that he had no interest in honoring.
  15. No, he's saying complain when it's warranted (like, not so much during the effing preseason), and that not all is lost if the team doesn't meet all these criteria. In a nutshell, enjoy it. Seems like a hard thing for a lot of us to do these days. Is it just that we care too much?
  16. No, but "tool" is the right word for him. I can't believe that someone who played the game for a significant amount of time could be so ill-informed and wrong so often. I flat-out can't stand the guy. Dierdorf is fine, I don't feel one way or the other about him. Costas I find to be pretty darned knowledgeable. I like him. Plus he's a 'Cuse guy. I actually like Tasker. Some complain about him here but I think he truly brings the player perspective you claim Theismann adds. My one critique of him would actually be that I think he goes out of his way not to be a Bills homer, and is overly critical of our boys on the air. I think some of the old, classic broadcasters were universally liked. But that's coming from the era where one game was on instead of 16, where the voice of your local team meant something, and there were less distractions. With quantity, the quality has decreased. I mean, we have to listen to Kenny Albert drunkenly stumble over himself year after year. How is this guy still working in broadcasting? What's all this got to do with the Madden '06 Bills anyway?
  17. God bless Roscoe. A gimpy dwarf who changed the world.
  18. The difference is that the Globetrotters are merely acting, not acting like children.
  19. He'd make more money and have a longer career in the NBA, probably.
  20. Really, who could resist that little red hat and those little shorts?
  21. Why no standouts from our high-motor defensive line? And I want 55-yard FGs, 25 touchbacks and 100% accuracy from Mr. Lindell. You're right Fez, this team does suck.
  22. Save this post: Joe, I agree with you. That would be a great cookie.
  23. Rich, you're getting ripped off. This service should be free.
  24. 1) Nope 2) Because I cannot match your supreme high level of brain-wave activity. You're just on another level, Rich. Go back and read your post, I was talking about politicians, just as you were. Anyone with com... I mean, most people would see the hypocrisy.
  25. It gets worse. Halliburton's been overcharging our military to the tune of $979 a pop for a 10 oz. bag. I am sick of these sweetheart deals. It's high time we elected accountable politicians who will provide affordable snacks for all.
