  1. But, but, but, we should sign Ogden and Pace, because they're, uh, good. TD sucks!
  2. Wow, thanks for the info. Personally, I like seeing the "C" stitched on Danny Briere's sweater. He's totally the kind of guy a Buffalo team needs. But sounds like Gaustad should be good, and I'm not a regular Sabres viewer anymore now that I'm out of the broadcast range. Kind of wishing I'd gone for the hockey instead of the football package this season!
  3. Anyone know anything about this kid Gaustad? Slipped under my radar.
  4. Of course! Thousands of years ago, we rode dinosaurs and ate bronto burgers. Mmmmm... bronto-licious.
  5. I think they're going to have Tory Woodbury phone in the plays while Roscoe Parrish acts them out in the palm of Matthews' hand.
  6. If Favre had missed 2/3 of his practice reps in the 1st season rehabbing from a broken leg you might be onto something there. I think there's a big difference.
  7. Antonio Gates plays for the Chargers.
  8. Yet how pissed are they now that Eli's tearing it up and making headlines? Mularkey caved in. It just sucks that players are selfish and don't want to build something. They'd rather cash in and "win" -- and while I was happy we beat the Fins last week, the way we did it was pretty excruciating. The Bills are kidding themselves if they think we're going to beat OAK, NE the way we played last week.
  9. Tough call. What I'd say is MLB umps should be held a lot more accountable for mistakes as there is never so much action going on that one of the 4-6 guys on the field can't get the call right. Football, while officiated by larger crews, is such a fast-paced, bang-bang type of game with a lot of bodies doing a lot of different things at once. Even though it's excruciating to watch missed/wrong calls, they are more understandable than last night's shenanigans. I said it in the other thread though, tentative calls and reversed or "double" calls such as the one last night are the worst kind one can make as an official.
  10. Two new tackles? Disaster. And think we're paying too much for big Mike at RT? We can't pay a guard double his worth. Can't do it. And try paying for two new tackles when there are other holes to fill? Not a chance. Mike has not missed that many games due to injury. No more than CV at this point.
  11. 1billsfan makes a good point wrt the coaching, which is that no matter who is directing this offense, it seems to succeed early on and then deflate. Clements seems to be wholly unable to adjust his playcalling to suit the situation at hand. At least last week a steady diet of Willis was able to put us in a ball-control situation that kept us alive for the win.
  12. Even politicians need a leg to stand on. Palmeiro and Canseco don't have 'em. I'd wager neither does Mark McGwire. Why? Not because they might not have been HoF players without using, but because we'll never, never know. Who knows. Canseco might have actually been a great one if he used discipline instead of drugs. Fact is, they cheated. Baseball allowed it to happen, but it's still cheating and these guys are personally responsible for their decisions.
  13. I understand Palmeiro and Canseco as "no question" users, but nothing definitive ever came out on Belle. You think it's the injuries or his poor relationship with the media that will hold him back, or speculation on 'roids?
  14. "Ruined" is definitely not a quote from me. I still don't think it was the right move, but happy about the win.
  15. Good to see the old man still believes in his QB of the future:
  16. Travis might have a tough time phoning that one in from Nashville rehab. Or were you talking about Travis BROWN?
  17. Is there anything Jason Peters can't do?
  18. The bloody Jaguars got him.
  19. I hate predictions, but: Bills come from behind, 14-13. We need this one at home.
  20. Takes too long to develop. Dudes are in the backfield by the time Willis makes the cut.
  21. Why should the Bills trade for anybody when they can find the star of the future at their own Combine?
  22. His political ambitions aside, he does have a legacy right now of being the guy who "saved hockey" for Buffalo, and is righting a ship that had been steered into rough waters by the Rigases. You can't expect him to just plunk down a lot of money when the team is not there yet financially or in terms of maturity.
  23. Big question would be if the Sabres get any public money, etc. I think that would make a big difference as gov'ts have a big habit of subsidizing teams as a supposed boon to local / state economies.
  24. Apparently going to make a run for Gov again... Too bad he's enlisting the help of the GOP instead of going outside the two-party fray. It'll probably help him win, though. I have no idea what his social policies are but I'll make the stupid statement that it'd be nice to have a governor on the side of the Sabres. Anyone know if there would be any conflict-of-interest situations that would force him to sell the team if he did perchance win? This is obviously a long ways and many potential obstacles away.
  25. I think we are over-reliant on the blitz and it almost killed us this past week. We should be reluctant to send too many guys and leave Coles and McCareins one-on-one. Even with McGee and Clements making good plays we could get burned for the big one.
