  1. Mississippi Fred McDowell, my friends. Ain't nothing better. Time for a whiskey.
  2. Awhile back my wife and I house-sat for this couple here in New York. They were friends with Finn Carter (the female lead in "Tremors,"). She showed up at the place while we were there and was a mess. Guess she hasn't had a lot going on since.
  3. I thought it was Nickelslave. Am I wrong on this?
  4. Homer at the Bat. the Frank Grimes episode. Lisa Needs Braces. My 3 faves, anyway.
  5. I'd say, much as with Drew, right now if you surrounded the guy with a decent O-Line and some playmakers, he could still get it done. Remove his weapons and he's going to force things and try and do it all himself. He has a tendency to do that anyway (remember that Rams playoff game a few years ago?). Pitt's D was also in Favre's face all game. They'll do that. It's one of the reasons why they are one of the better teams in the AFC. Towards the end they were just harrassing him. I agree he certainly could have made better decisions, but to say the guy is out-and-out done is questionable.
  6. You can't be dominant in practice when you don't get first-team reps. The team has to prepare for the opponent in the week ahead and rarely has time for an out-and-out QB competition. That's why those kind of things usually tear teams apart. And from what part of your azz do you pull out that Carson Palmer had "dominant" practices? Or does it just suit your crusade? Aikman, Manning, Manning, Palmer, Brees, to name just a very few: winning QBs who sucked their first year, maybe more. There's a learning curve. Teams that are not patient with it, and don't call plays that put their team in a position to succeed, will suffer and repeat the cycle over and over again. If you think there's an upside, that Kelly Holcomb is going to get any better than he is right now, you are out of your freaking mind.
  7. Because both QBs can't play on Sunday, unless you're going to remove one mid-game for a "spark." I am not against Holcomb -- as a backup, and like someone else said, it's a shame that this mess overshadows the point that Holcomb is the best backup we've had since Reich. And it's not possible that Losman becomes a good QB without playing. If he has to develop, he is not going to do it on the bench with scout team practice reps. The argument is with the joker who thinks that Holcomb has more upside and is a QB of the future at 33.
  8. I thought Losman executed well on the opening drive of just about every game, as did the team. Made things happen when plays broke down. If you don't think the whole team sucked, top-to-bottom, play-calling to execution, in the really tough losses, especially the TB game, you saw a different game than I did. In addition, we've already seen how much better the team has performed when players on the line are healthy (and how poorly we do with a joker like Jerman in there). Losman only had that benefit for one full game (guess which one it was...). Holcomb's also lucky that Shelton finally learned how to catch a ball, which he somehow wasn't able to do even when JP hit him in the numbers on a few crucial occasions those first few games. But none of this could be true because Losman really sucks bar none after his partial four games, and a 32 year old is going to be our QB of the future, the spark we need to go nowhere. I wish you Holcomb dreamers would go join the Kurt Warner fans in wherever he's playing this year.
  9. What you save on car insurance you gain in rage.
  10. Funny, we're getting the same feeling about your crush on Holcomb.
  11. Tedy Bruschi delivered AND baptized my first child.
  12. You may want to edit that. Sorry, just descended into grade school level for a bit.
  13. Good stuff. Thanks! (I was listening to the game on the radio.) It would be great if Peters really can become our future at one of the tackle positions, always with the threat to go tackle eligible.
  14. We'll probably never find out because Losman obviously sucks after seeing him in parts of four games even though other NFL QBs have struggled, then blossomed after a few years of experience. Time to go on ignore, blockhead. I'm done arguing.
  15. Eric has restructured, but never, to my knowledge, taken a pay cut in his history with the Bills. "He does good" is not a fact to support an argument. It IS your argument. I've brought out the stats, they show he's in decline. If you think that he's worth what he's going to be paid for sentimental value, that's an opinion and I think there are better ways to spend the money. So now we're tossing insults. That really raises the level of discourse. BTW, he was here for the autumn of Kelly's career. It's not like he's a tie to the Super Bowl years or anything. I'm glad Moulds has stayed with the team through thick and thin, but I also think his voice in the locker room is a little more powerful than his on-field performance these days. And he gets paid VERY WELL for what he does. If he'd take a cut of a couple million to help the team get to the next level, great, but I just don't see it happening. He'll cry about wanting to win now, but I'm sure when the chips are all down he'll want to get paid, just like the rest of these guys. I'll take your authority for what it's worth in the matter.
  16. I'd rather have Reggie Wayne in his prime at maybe 3-4 mil, and have another 2-3 to spend on one of the lines.
  17. For the record, the 2002 Cleveland team was a playoff team. Holcomb wasn't the difference there. In 2003, Holcomb was the starter, threw 10 TDs, 12 INTs and was injured for a good deal of the season. And in his 400 yard game last year, he threw a game-ending INT that was returned for a TD. Facts suck. But hey, surround Holcomb with a cast of All-Pros and he'll be the second coming of Montana.
  18. Makes no less sense than saying he could take the Bills to the Super Bowl.
  19. 101 views (not all mine ) and no assessments. What gives?
  20. Runyan, maybe? Reggie Wayne would be a nice replacement for Moulds. He's not your typical 1-A guy, and has obviously benefited from his company in Indy, but he's got some skills and, looking at a team like NE, they have three solid, but not top-5 WRs. Perhaps we should model after them...
  21. Substitute "Bledsoe" for "Holcomb" and this sounds very, very familiar.
  22. Did it occur to you that Holcomb's 400 yard passing performances were in losses? Holcomb is an average, somewhat smart QB with limited skills and even more limited upside. His history has been as a guy who has played hard in tough losses. Starting record: 6-11 now, if my numbers are right. Holcomb will only lead the Bills to the Super Bowl in the same way the Rob Johnson led the Bucs there.
  23. I'm saying spend it on any one of those things, Einstein. Maybe two or three. Those are our needs. And one of our "best players" has scored all of 3 touchdowns and averaged 9.89 yards a catch through 8 games. Time to get better players, sounds like.
  24. DT, OL. Our early #1 draft pick next year. Locking up McGahee. A low-cost veteran receiver. Clements or his replacement. Possible replacement for Posey. That enough for you?
  25. Right, it's not like this team has needs or anything! They're playoff-ready!
