Alcohol's a recreational drug. He might be right. As for narcotics, probably a lot lower.

First off, tough loss. It's never been more clear this team needs HELP on the lines. No push on either side. The offensive tackles actually performed OK, obviously not good enough, but the inside just sucks. Put Duke Preston in now. Teague isn't doing JP any good when he's stepping on his ankles by the third step of a drop. A FA guard, maybe 2, is a need. Sadly, MW isn't it, Bennie Anderson is only slightly better than awful, and Villarial is not looking that much better (and 2 of those 3 are injured). Penalties, Jesus. I don't know what else needs to be said about how much those killed us today. Still impressed with JP. He made his mistakes, but I think he's taking steps in the right direction (note to OBD: how's about more no-huddle? they kicked ass running it, so why not run it in the last minutes of the game when you need a TD?) I think we're going to see some exciting dogfights like that Seattle-Giants game next year. And I'm an EM critic, but he helped out a lot in this game. This is just an aside, but I think it's worth noting. I flew in from Brooklyn to see this game with my dad, a special occasion. We had a blast despite the loss, tailgated, enjoyed our seats and generally were surrounded by some great fans. However, there are MANY who are out of control, who can't enjoy the game without getting wasted, acting supremely obnoxious, and passing out. This just sucks, and it really is a shame that civility seems to be dying a slow death at Bills games. I say this because at the end of the game my dad picked up his seat cushion and saw that someone had thrown up behind him. It got on his cushion, his jacket, his pants. Really freaking disgusting. The kid had been passed out since beginning of the second half. It definitely put a damper on what had been a great time for us, tough loss and all. I accosted the guy before he could leave and told him I didn't want to start anything, just that he had to apologize to my dad. He gave about the lamest of apologies I've ever heard, but hopefully at some point he'll stop and consider his actions, and maybe he won't need to have so many at the next game... I just want to say, I enjoy a drink or two at the game/tailgating, but you can enjoy yourself (and others can enjoy you) more if you're not blasted, making a drunken fool of yourself, and making life miserable for your neighbors. Get loud when the defense is out there, cheer on your team, and be good to each other, that's not too much to ask, is it? Just had to vent about this one. Otherwise, fun game, team needs to get better, tough loss, but we've got hope. Cheers, J.

Some toughts after watching the Lions
RuntheDamnBall replied to Toledo Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Millen's an idiot, I can't believe the guy still has his boss' confidence. I've always kind of liked the Lions. It seems there are a lot of Buffalo connections from RW, working class town that hasn't figured it out in the post-industrial era, franchise with a lot of struggles. It's a shame they could never put it together, especially when they had such an amazing back in Barry Sanders. He's still a treat to go back and watch. -
Too bad MW didn't have McNally coaching him from the start. If he had begun his Bills career with some consistency (rather than 3 line coaches likely telling him different things, 2 offenses and 3 QBs) things might have been better. Right now our best hope is that he isn't damaged goods, or that if he is, we come up with an expedient and least damaging way of availing ourselves of him. Really, is it possible that so many people could have been wrong on Williams? I know it is, but it just seems pretty hard to believe...

Arbitrator to be fired for T.O. decision

You might be waiting for awhile for someone to accept your appreciation on that one. I have a few codebreakers working on it and it's going to take days. -
Next years available free agents

Other teams don't enter into the picture. If Buffalo doesn't sign these guys, overpaying if necessary, Bills bad! Wasn't Grady Jackson called a big tub of goo a couple years ago when we were interested in him? Why is he better two years later (and older, and probably slower)? -

Perhaps people don't exist just to provide corporations with cheap, dangerous labor. This all has exactly what to do with Terrell Owens? -
Some toughts after watching the Lions

Harrington isn't great, but a lot like a certain team we root for, he isn't getting time and he wasn't making bad decisions yesterday. He got bad bad breaks with that interception (that one was on his receiver) and Bryson's fumble. The QB is not their #1 problem. I'm not sure what Garcia brought to the table, besides brittleness, that Harrington didn't. It's clear that Mariucci just doesn't like him. I'd love to see Harrington picked up and successful elsewhere (hopefully not somewhere like Miami) -- it could happen, a la Plummer. I could see KC grabbing him and doing really well if Trent Green decided to hang 'em up. -
Umm, you keep Schneck because he's obviously doing something right snapping to Lindell. Who? Are you paying attention? As for Aiken, I'm pretty sure there's another receiver out there who can "contribute" more than him. He's a marginal ST player with average hands and nothing for speed. Time to let him go. We probably should have kept Haddad instead of him. At least that guy has a nose for the ball. Anybody know whether we let George Wilson go/sent to practice squad once Parrish made it back on the roster?

Who are some possible future gm's for the bills?
RuntheDamnBall replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Preposterous. Epstein was a personnel man, too. It's inconceivable that he'd take a job that would not play to his strengths to indulge some whim that he's never discussed to work in football and manage a team strictly from the business end. And, BTW, the Red Sox would be fiscally successful due to their rabid fanbase regardless of what they put on the field. Hundred year-old teams tend to build up a fanbase and a history. I can't see what any of this has to do with management of the Buffalo Bills. Probably because it doesn't have anything to do with them. Oh, and if this ridiculous non-occurrence were to ever happen, the rollercoaster here would have a ball with it when it inevitably didn't work out: "Ralph hired a guy with NO PRIOR football experience! Let's all boycott!" "Theo STILL hasn't fixed the offensive line." "He gets a pass, Donahoe left us with such a big mess!" ...Ad nauseum. Fun. -
With a good off-season....

A QB ain't passing to nobody when his ass is on the turf. -
Another one from the WTF? department... It's one thing to crusade against cruel treatment of animals for no reason. It's quite another to crusade against hunters and fishermen who are generally more in touch with nature, respectful and understanding of the animals they hunt than any of these PETA jokers could ever hope to be. EDIT: And how about instead worrying about real concerns like land preservation, overfishing and overpopulation of invasive species? Naah, that'd make too much sense.

Says the Steely Dan fan? And you were complaining about overt whiteness earlier! C'mon Dean, go listen to some early James Brown.
-
Complete bull sh--. Using this logic, any star (or any player) on any team who's been benched could seek to be released if they're not going to play. Why even have contracts if this crap is going to happen? He signed with the Eagles. They are free to do whatever they want with him, especially if they have to pay him.

Perhaps, but he did break a dude's legs. -
I like McGuire for both GM and HC. He's a Buffalo guy, and he could tell you something about the guys who can just flat out play.
-
Last time I checked, Edwards was a little better than Bannan or Anderson. But whatever. The time Fletcher, Milloy and McGee has missed takes nothing away from the fact that they're playing hurt and that compromises the defense. Way to ignore McGee's injury, also. My point was, others on the defense have been hurt.
-
Right, the only injury to the defense, besides Ron Edwards, London Fletcher, Terrence McGee, Kevin Thomas, and Lawyer Milloy. Besides those, he's the only guy who's been hurt.
-
Clements had better play like a man possessed for the rest of this season if he wants the money.
