  1. I disagree. Peerless excels from the slot. His size can be a disadvantage. And he really only looked great in the Air Gilbride/Bledsoe offense. I wouldn't forget that having Vick as a QB did nothing for him, either. Losman displays much more of a propensity for using his WRs. Wayne is slightly bigger than Peerless (and Harrison), he's averaged over 12 YPC every year of his career (career average: close to 14). He also has a longer record of success than Peerless. At year 5, he is hitting his peak and is ready to post solid numbers even though Harrison and James are having great years. I think if we're looking for Lee to become #1 (and based on the kind of play we saw in the KC game, he can be), Wayne is a solid, solid 1B.
  2. I'd like that swap if we ended up with Wayne. They get older, dynamic duo, we get younger, quicker. I'm sure Eric could make some incentives there. I think more likely if we lose him, he ends up in Philly though.
  3. I'd rather see us try and lure Ron Wolf back into football.
  4. No, obviously he didn't play in 1980. Sorry the two sentences seemed to associate with one another. I'm merely saying, 25, 30, 40 years ago this wouldn't even be an issue. The guy would play, if he gets hurt, that's what happens in football. No whining. I think it's what happens in football now, but it's as much because of the media as it is due to the emergence of a lot of tactics outside of the game to gain an edge.
  5. But would that have happened 25 years ago? Would Johnny U have rested up for the playoffs? Honest question. Screw the press, these guys have got a game to play.
  6. Interesting, but if you were going this far, you'd have to go further and look at individual plays such as situations where the receiver bobbled the ball, and it was intercepted. Is that one on the passer? Not really. It's happened to both Losman and Harrington at least once (maybe more?).
  7. Anyone who's getting to watch all these games have a quarterly report on Afinogenov? Kid could always skate, but never could quite finish to become the great scorer this team needs -- it looked like more of the same to me when I was home to catch Friday's game.
  8. Peyton = good Marvin's a good ol' 'Cuse boy, the kind we NEVER draft. Classy. Peyton to Marvin = Kelly to Reed Also, much as I don't like Polian personally and the Irsays are a bunch of azzholes, it would be nice to see Polian recognized and, by extension, the great teams he built here. Go Colts, indeed. Especially since we probably won't play them this year.
  9. Is that a Carl Mauck "bull sh--" avatar? Awesome.
  10. Funny, I didn't really take it that way. I took it as, he understands we don't have the guys we need right now to win, and we might reasonably expect he intends for the team to do something about it. I understand, nobody wants to hear the owner say we're happy with losing, but he has to be happy that Losman is getting better. You think Wellington Mara was happy about his team's performance last year? I'd wager not. However, I'm sure that before he passed he was happy seeing that his team was being led in the right direction, Manning having had a year of experience under his belt. I'm sure TD will be evaluated by Ralph after this season just like anybody. Ralph didn't indicate in that article that he was happy or angry with TD's performance, and hinting that we don't have the personnel ("material") might be a bit of a shot or ultimatum for TD. I hope it is.
  11. How possible do you think activity for a group of this sort in Iraq under Saddam would have been? Honest question. I would believe it wouldn't be possible at all, but I don't know the finer details. I think the first half of your assessment is worth looking into, and I had the same questions myself. They definitely should be making the point that, if they are against violence, they propose non-violent action on the part of Iraqis as a statement against injustice. It's entirely necessary if they're to be taken seriously at all.
  12. I wouldn't say he "wised him up" but I would say he provided a dependable target. That tends to make a QB better. And it also tends to draw coverage toward that target, perhaps leaving some of your other receivers uncovered.
  13. I think their message is not "Bush Bad," but one of nonviolence with regard to many world issues. You might not agree with it, but your assessment of it is reductive. They are proposing alternatives to violent resistance. Christian Peacemakers
  14. Though I know what you're getting at -- and you're right, the line is the problem -- an open Kevin Everett as safety valve means there is another physical receiver that the defense has to think about, one who is also capable of helping out in blocking situations. I don't think that should be underestimated, and he surely was/is part of their plans. It's like, "now what?" You can't go out and sign a FA replacement, you've got the guy on the roster next year, you just committed to a fairly high draft pick. At the same time, you're stuck with what you had last year. Hence no improvement with the TEs. On a semi-related topic, people joke about how losing the "gimmick midget receiver" Parrish didn't really make much of a difference, and how he hasn't been much of a presence. (I think he made big steps on Sunday, BTW.) I think they're dead wrong. You can't measure what JP lost when Roscoe went down. He was making connections with JP all preseason. He was certainly part of their plans, and suddenly, he was gone. I really believe it hurt Losman's development and decision-making as he entered his first season as a starter. This season for the Bills has been all about what happens when personnel go down or don't fit in. The response, obviously, has been more than lacking in most areas.
  15. Harrington is going to make some team happy as their new QB. Hopefully it ain't the Jets or Miami.
  16. Unless a lot of things change (and of course, they can), the road to the Cup for every other team is going to end with the Senators. They are having a first half like I've never seen. 4.8 goals a game!?!? Unreal!
  17. Save that one, that's your best post yet.
  18. So, Ralph has fired TD, and hired... Ralph Wilson Stadium?
  19. And replace them with... ... ... ... I'm waiting. For one, Milloy was actually one of the few guys on the defense making a presence in the Panthers game. Numerous times he was there making stops that should have been made by Posey. In addition, I think you saw in a big way how important he is (and how he would be missed) on the touchdown play that came right after he exited the game. Coy Wire is not his replacement. Who is? Leave Milloy alone. Vincent came to Clements' rescue a few times. I'd say with a real D-line, we might not need to mess with the secondary at all. Mario Haggan or Josh Stamer haven't been good enough to unseat the laughably bad Posey. Who is? Assuming Spikes returns (to form), maybe Crowell, but he is not much more than average, either. We need two starting defensive tackles if we sack Adams. Who are they? Teague, easy, we replace him with Preston, right? Hopefully. Trey and Bennie are dead weight out there. The rest of the line: tackles might be OK with better/healthier (?) guards. Villarial might be past his peak, but serviceable if we can keep him healthy. Upgrading at RG or at the tackles is at a premium compared to getting a GOOD (really good, like, making-Mike Gandy-look-GREAT-good)LG right now, because Gandy is playing OK and Peters looks to have decent potential.
  20. More likely we get one or two new coordinators (I think Clements is out the door one way or another, and Gray may or may not find himself a college coaching gig). I imagine some position guys will be dismissed, too. This is aside from the obvious personnel moves that are going to be very difficult for TD to pull off -- the kind that give us a roster that makes some of the coaches look better than they may actually be (see Jerry Gray). But we'll see. I am not sure Mularkey looks as rosy to TD (or esp. RW) if he loses 4 or all 5 of these last games, which is a distinct possibility. More likely, we'll find a way to win 2 -- 3 if we are darned lucky, and Mularkey stays with a short leash for '06.
  21. JSP told you to get a clue, I'd advise you get a clue on your reading comprehension, though.
  22. Try being civil instead of acting like a freaking knowitall. JP also executed the no-huddle with precision, but that doesn't fit into your little "it's all JP's fault" screed.
  23. And Losman is a first-year starter trying to pick his targets against what is also one of the more capable secondaries in football. At least I understand why he might make a few mistakes. I know what I saw, that's all I can give you. Peters handled his job, and dare I say it but Gandy even did OK, though JP had a quick enough release to avoid being mauled by Gandy's man more than once. The inside sucked. Ask Willis since he can't earn a freaking dime running to the inside. All those yards are on his effort. Teague did not look good and Anderson continues to be a liability. Fat, slow Bennie only looked better because Mike Williams is a disaster as midseason replacement guard (not that I feel it's fair to judge him -- he's being put into a bad situation with on-the-fly training and he's injured, to boot). Would have been better to start that process in June, not November. Good guards and a talented center will make our average / improving tackles better, and get us running the ball the way we should be as a cold-weather, hard-nosed team. This current lot is soft. Sorry you saw it differently, "no offense" but I think a lot more people here would agree with my assessment than yours.
