  1. From Spikes' mouth. KFFL.
  2. Well, look at the recent drafts: Ryan Sims (from the "Mike Williams" draft) is a bit of a bust. Henderson, from the same draft, has performed well for Jax. Haynesworth (Ten) probably rates a bit lower than his #15 selection (though he was projected higher). 2003: Jimmy Kennedy is viewed as pretty much a bust at No. 12 for the Rams, though he did lose all of the 2004 season and might be coming on a little stronger now. Jonathan Sullivan (No. 6) is not starting for the Saints. Dewayne Robertson (No. 4) has graded out at slightly above average for the Jets in an up-and-down career so far. So far Kevin Williams is looking very good as a pass rushing tackle, posting double-digit sacks in 03 and 04. '05 has been a little different with early struggles, an injury and Pat Williams making this line more of a run-stuffing unit. 2004: Harris looks decent, probably merits pick No. 14-15. Wilfork has been up-and-down but one of the betters in a DT-weak draft (only two first-rounders). You're probably right, a little less bust factor at DT, but there are also less teams reaching for them early and a clear distinction is made b/t the top, top prospects and the second tier. Meanwhile, teams are always desperate for OL help and will sink more picks into that position hoping to strike gold.
  3. Much as I really like Lee Evans and his position needed to be addressed, we could have had that DT at pick No. 13 in that draft: Tommie Harris. No flashy stats, but they look pretty gooood against the run, notwithstanding Bettis' effort against them in the snow last week. Edit: I know, we had Pat Williams, but I meant for the future...
  4. !@#$ the sea-mammals.
  5. It looks to me like the offensive coaches have been hitting the harder stuff. Those plays could definitely not have been concocted without a 1.75 of Old Granddad.
  6. hey dave, come on over to my thread... Here!
  7. You got Fassel, Al Saunders, Jim Bates, Pete Carroll (probably not), Dan Henning, Dick LeBeau, Dan Reeves, Wyche and even Wann-stache out there to name a few. Now obviously some are more palatable than others... I would be comfortable turning this team over to LeBeau, Reeves, Wyche, Fassel, and maybe one or two others on that list. Also, as for coaches coaching now who might be gone, I suspect Capers will be available after this season. Possibly Jeff Fischer (would be a great pickup) too.
  8. Again, he's said the injury was looming -- I have no doubt that impacted his play. BTW, TKO doesn't play defensive tackle. We need someone who can for the D to be any good, however.
  9. God. CJ, Housh and Evans would be a terror trio receiving passes from Palmer. Forget it. Glad it's never going to happen!
  10. What, Zach "most overrated LB in NFL history" Thomas isn't good enough for you?
  11. Talk is indeed cheap. But I believe in this guy, always have. I also believe that this was an injury that was looming since the preseason. We'll never know if this team would have been better with him in there, but I can't believe for a minute it would have been worse. And while Crowell has filled in admirably -- and, if possible, should take Posey's place -- TKO's on-field leadership means even more to the team than his ability. They have even generally played better when he's there just as a spectator (see: at home).
  12. Really, Nick? I'm convinced that Mularkey's in over his head and doesn't know how to use what he's got. I might have agreed with you until we found out that Mularkey is making the play calls. I've had it with too many runs up the middle and too much shackling of Losman. And the guy has seemingly never heard of the screen pass. We paid for offensive genius. I for one want my money back.
  13. This team was Wade's second chance. He coached Denver in 93-94. And what this team needs is some fire. Wade doesn't have it. As for Williams, I'm not sure he's learned from his mistakes as regards his offensive choices. Both are fine defensive coordinators and probably not much more. Both also left this team under trying circumstances. I don't expect either back, and neither would provide what this team needs. BTW, re: Belicheck, we also know he didn't have Charlie Weis, or, as now, his offense when he was in Cleveland. Your assistants can make or break you. Belicheck just has a good personnel philosophy and great luck with his QB, and that has made for a winning combination.
  14. How about "I expect him to come in and rupture offenses in '06"?
  15. I think our best chances lie with a JP-to-Lee connection. If those two could do a lot of work on timing routes and especially the short game over the winter, it would do wonders for both of them.
  16. Anyone watched Davin Joseph - OG from Oklahoma and have a report on him? Not thinking he's a top-15 pick but perhaps we can package for a move up with 2nd or 3rd round picks? I know scouting banter is exactly that, but I don't like this quote about Max Jean-Gilles: "May lack a nasty demeanor and killer instinct.." Sounds like MW redux.
  17. Anyone who's writing this guy off for next year is fooling themselves. He sounds like a man determined. And I believe him. From the ESPN article on the TBD front page: I love it. Can't wait for my favorite Bill to come back and tear it up in '06. Now let's get him and London some help on the DL.
  18. You're forgetting that the clowns running the show right now are the same guys who thought Greg Jerman was a more capable starting tackle than Peters. If there's one thing Mularkey has shown, it's that if he's ever going to make a good decision he is going to take an inordinate amount of time doing it (see the Henry/McGahee switch last year).
  19. You're ignoring Duke Preston. We would be better served spending half the MW money on the DL and seeing if this kid's got the skills. I like the Runyan idea though as giving us an experienced right side, JaP is holding his own, and MJG is not a bad idea either. We would be well served to start thinking now, however, about the eventuality of CVs breaking down. It's already seeming to happen.
  20. Right, because there were never any poor people before "Democratic programs." And Republicans never EVER install feel-good sounding social programs like faith-based initiatives or No Child Left Behind. Soldier on like your side is less of a problem, though, if it makes you feel better. Programs without any accountability are a problem, but to say that they never help anyone is bollocks. I wonder what Reagan the FDR fan would have thought of Reagan the President...
  21. Don't worry, he's just listening to an Iron Maiden CD for Mid-East policy inspiration like usual, that's all.
  22. Please. I couldn't care less about anyone's attention. It was more of a commentary, if you will, on all the idiot "Jimmy Johnson Hulk Hogan Milton Berle should be GM/HC" posts.
  23. I believe you mean ruining.
  24. Didn't he sing for Styx?
  25. Also, give this kid some time and his fakes are going to impress.
