  1. Talking about the on field displays.
  2. No doubt. but there's this way of saying that, and then there's Robert Woods' way. I know which is more productive for a team, and I'm glad Fred is here to set an example. If it ain't everyone's favorite broken record.
  3. Except for that he easily could have with marginally better QB and receiver play. And it would have been out of his control.
  4. Nope. It's about loving this team and supporting its players. Try again though!
  5. People keep hammering on this "fact" even though it's not true. Accuracy improves almost as a general rule for the best passers. The stats for Rivers, Rodgers, Brady, etc reflect this. This could be in part because they become smarter QBs, arm strength is lost over time and higher completion % passes are built into the game, rapport with receivers is built, but it can improve.
  6. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/jackson-stands-behind-coachs-decision-20140929 The article is linked on TBD, but it's worth discussing. I know this will slip by the crowd that is having its field day for being "right" about EJ never being an NFL QB, but I think Fred is the perfect guy to help EJ look at this the right way. Time and again he has been left on the sidelines in favor of other options, and time and again he has worked his way back to where he belongs. You can argue (rightfully) that he never should have been on the sidelines in the first place, but still, it's about the perspective he can offer a young player. Coming out and saying "we aren't giving up on EJ" and ‘If anything, let it motivate you,’ ” Jackson said. “Motivate you to come ready to work and prove that you’re still the guy. If I know him, that’s what he’s going to do. … He’s going to continue to come to work, improve as a quarterback, and take care of the things that he needs to take care of.” ... that's the mark of a consummate teammate and captain.
  7. At least it's not a guy like Kelly Holcomb (?).
  8. Except that whole point is pointless. At this time in their respective last seasons, JP Losman, Geno Smith, Teddy Bridgewater and Jake Locker were all potential #1 overalls.
  9. Well, he did get in for that "teach 'em a lesson" game against the Pats that Mularkey tossed him into. Also, broken leg that first season. So development curve was poor from the get-go. JP seemed to not get along with everyone, but put on a good public face. I still think he wanted to be good and gave it his best. Another botched prospect.
  10. Again, why is this particular issue important to you?
  11. Yeah, but honestly, that damage was done the moment they had to put him in as the starter last season. This organization has been desperate for years. Absolutely desperate. Maybe the FO and staff didn't realize this coming in fresh to the org, but that's naive. Desperate teams make desperate moves. This team was never going to stand by EJ through the growing pains even if it would pay dividends later on. With that said, why make him the de facto #1 by signing an injury-riddled vet to keep the seat warm? That is the failure that all of these other failures stem from. The best thing the Bills could have done for EJ's development was to make him force the issue with his play in practice, and to let him dip his toes in as opposed to having to dive without a life preserver. They botched that chance in 2013.
  12. I'm going to disagree. I think the fact that he's further along and struggling this much means he needs to just get his head right. They can't have him doing that and leading the team in games. If there were a AAA equivalent that would be the way to go for EJ right now, to play but in a low-pressure zone.
  13. Brees. For Flutie.
  14. I would bet the under on a line of 4 games before the next b--ch fest. I hope I'm proven wrong.
  15. Throw a parade for yourself, for being so goddamn right about whatever it is you're right about.
  16. Believe? Not at the moment. Support? As long as he's wearing a Bills jersey, for sure. Root for? Probably all the time until he's out of the league. He's a good kid.
  17. Since we were having backup discussions at 2-0 and 2-1, I would wager yes. But he was bad enough to need to take a seat for awhile, so I can live with it. I do hope people realize that the best chance for this team is if the kid develops into something special down the road and root for that possibility. It just churns my stomach the way some fans relish the kid's failure. Even if you don't believe his success is likely, I don't think he's earned scorn - he's only earned some time out from under the microscope to find what makes him better.
  18. Maybe he was asked if he conferred with the other Doug and this was his blunt way of saying he has control over those personnel decisions. I wouldn't read much more into it.
  19. What this really is, is the team correcting a grave mistake from last season in hoping Kolb could stay healthy, and giving EJ the job by default. Hopefully Orton buys them time to see if EJ can get his act together in a lower pressure setting. I don't think he's done yet but he needs this reset as much as the team does.
  20. Wow, that's crazy talk. I refuse to think he's damaged goods to that extent. I hope you're dead wrong and he takes this time to soak it in and learn.
  21. Except EJ did enough to win the Atlanta game. You can't call that one winnable and hang the loss on him. It was lost by Stevie and Chandler.
