  1. Let's hear it for high standards...
  2. They should kill the Simpsons right now. It's a sad, sad shell of what it used to be. Seasons 4-8 are still mind-blowingly good though. Thank God for DVDs.
  3. I just don't buy for a minute that the myriad manias that these people are suffering from fit into the democrat/republican schema. You're talking binary, these people are in some alternate universe. The more appropriate comparison might be to the so-called militias floating around out there. The thing is, people don't identify them with the right wing immediately because they don't have an extrovert media presence and they likely look even worse naked.
  4. You must have missed the post that detailed how the Rev. Jackson picked up a raygun, and he's not afraid to use it for the people.
  5. So which is it? These 'couple hundred' are a fringe and nobody listens to them? Or are they a swarming, all-controlling arm of the Democratic Party? You guys kill me, every day.
  6. It's just easier to lump people into a group and say that "obviously all leftist loonies want the death of Israel" than to try to have reasonable conversations with reasonable people from each side. "Social conservatives have a crazy fetish/obsession with the intimate details of male homosexuality and gruesome embryo pictures. I have pictures." See how easy that is?
  7. Fantastic. Continued good wishes coming your way.
  8. bump. nobody wants to help a brother out? Come on, New York.
  9. I did. I actually called it early on, when Albany was just kicking ass -- said to my wife, "I hope Albany holds it, makes it interesting, and then UConn finishes strong and wins by about ten so it's not a heartbreaker." It would have been really fun if Albany won, but yes, it would have completely sabotaged my bracket featuring a UConn championship.
  10. Good time for my bracket to go up in flames...
  11. I teach audio production and tutor for writers on the university level.
  12. Anybody know of a bar where a fella without the hockey package can find the Sabres-Sens game on tomorrow night in NYC? I'd like to go watch it with the lady and a fellow ex-WNYer. Feel free to PM.
  13. Whatever the case, let's steer clear of Jersey. I can take TB or Philly, with preference for the former.
  14. Ask the lame posters who keep making the mistake...
  15. Is anyone here not the slightest bit sick of hearing that Marv "is not quite enamored of JP," or that we're doomed because of X, Y, Z...? 1) People are drawing a couple nebulous quotes from Marv, reading too much into them, and inferring that these mean more than months of competition and evaluation from a coaching staff that, as little as they may possibly know about football, still surpasses by a long shot the knowledge on this board. 2) It's March 15. Football season starts in September. Get a grip. There are plenty of changes to made leaguewide, more cuts, drafting, etc. If it doesn't happen now, it's OK. Really! I'm not going to play the "be patient" line. We all want to see them win sooner than later. But I'm going to drop the football portion of this board for awhile just because it's, well, boring. I'll peek in after the draft, but my god, it's getting tiresome worrying and listening to worrying about this stuff all the time. Adios.
  16. Jesus. If we ditch Spikes I will indeed lose my sh--.
  17. Leinart will be Levy's Kelly! That's awesome. So we just need to send Leinart to the USFL for two years while he decides whether or not he wants to play for us, then he can lead us to a couple mediocre years, and then it's playoffs here we come!
  18. Suppose you're right. You have one question answered, and 2-3 unanswered ones in front of him letting defenders destroy him.
  19. JSP, that's actually the one thing that gives me a good feeling about Marv, is that he seems to still have a good relationship with Polian. I'd feel a little better about it if Polian wasn't in the AFC, but Polian always has something great to say about Marv and his judgment of talent. He may yet surprise us.
  20. I'd only be happy if the other part of the equation includes some other team selling us the farm to get him. I want no part of another QB's growing pains. I'm willing to endure them with the one we have, with what we've given up to get him.
  21. Pitt's got a proud history, and if they can put together a decent run and are well-managed, things could change for them. They've got a good young nucleus and haven't traded any of them away in awhile. Any team with Roberto Clemente in its past has to have some magic in it.
  22. I will pay whatever it takes to fly back to Buffalo for the celebration. Unless by that time I am able to teleport. Which would be cool. But would mean I'd be old.
  23. wrt Losman, or Leinart? I'm guessing the latter -- you've been pretty level headed in the JP argument.
  24. Yeah, I'm not responding explicitly to your post there, except to point out Jimbo had a lot of time to learn and he STILL made some bonehead decisions, even in his prime. Yet he's an all-time great Bill. I suppose people were less forgiving of him early on as well, but I just don't see a good reason to throw JP under the bus just yet. Obviously today's NFL is different than 1986's, or even 1993's. But the fact that it is different and there is more of a sense of urgency seems to make teams lose their cool or scrap one rebuilding project for another, never finishing anything. In fact, if that's one thing I can say about this team over the past few years, it's that it had no killer instinct and it started from the top-down. This has not been a "go get 'em, put the nail in the coffin" team for a long time. It's been an organization of constant tinkering. Don't get me wrong, I think there absolutely NEED to be changes made. But they can't be changes that forsake growth. I hope this all changes with Jauron, who was a pretty killer player in his time. Perhaps he can be that kind of silent warrior that Belicheck has proven to be.
  25. Jim Kelly was not Marv's "own guy," remember that? Marv inherited him, as Jimbo finally came to play after a couple USFL years. Then, it was a couple more years before the team made the playoffs. But let's forget all that because Losman wasn't great after 8 games. Let's not bother to try for greatness. Let's just get good enough to go exactly nowhere, 1 or 2 first-round playoff exits if we're lucky.
