I'm Betting Houston Is Moulds Landing Spot
RuntheDamnBall replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to mention there'd be plenty of time to think about it! -
Good thing Donahoe's not drafting. I'd hate to hear that you punched the minister after the Bills drafted a 5'6" receiver with knee troubles at #8.

I'd like to think that with pick 8 there is a serious DT or OT candidate out there that suits us. If it's the former, I'm looking for Bunkley over Ngata, given the little I've read and the system that it sounds like we want to run. That said, we do have enough first day picks to juggle and move around to get the inside help we need on both lines in subsequent rounds, IMO. To my mind we are hurting at OG way more than at OT, and could locate 1-2 of them in rounds 2-3, maybe even R4 if we get Houston's first pick in that round. So we could perhaps target a sort of luxury pick in Vernon Davis if he is there, looks like a can't miss and we feel he's the kind of guy who could become our Antonio Gates. I can't see how anybody here would mind that. What was called a very sh------- SD line (and QB) suddenly looked a lot better with a monster #1 target. I'd predict the same here if Davis happens for us. The Milloy cut seems to point to Huff, though. So I reluctantly predict he's the man here -- reluctantly not because he's a bad player, but because I selfishly would like to see an exciting move made with Davis, or a high-need, safe move in a line pick.

What's going on with the Sabres????

True enough about the benchings, but what I was watching was the game, in the stands, and Pominville was loafing on more than one play. I think the kid has brought it most of the year, but he needed a wake-up call last night. That's all. -

He'll shoot the quake and make it talk in two minutes. Just have the Sec of State draw up a document granting full immunity. -

Funny, I remember him saying that at some point. Then again you've got four different accounts of the gospel to begin with and then are citing perhaps the most disputed section included in the Bible. Who was it who killed Jesus again, the Jews or the Romans? Whichever one was more politically convenient at the time? [/sarcasm] The kind of people who would claim to pen the word of God right now rightly scare the crap out of us, but for some reason the distancing factor obscures the fact that the Bible is a man-made and flawed text. -
And you wonder why we drink?

I think Miller is having some head problems, coupled with some defensemen problems and some injury problems concerning guys who really make this team better. They cannot fire on all cylinders w/o Hecht and Connolly, as buftex says. In the meantime, a point is a point. Who knows, if they hadn't thrown Lundqvist in there, we might have stolen that one. It was a great change by the Rangers and Buffalo couldn't solve it tonight. Hopefully they'll get to rectify this one in the playoffs. It'll be a new season. In the meantime, how good does it feel to say "Buffalo" and "playoffs" in the same sentence again? Go Sabes! Boo to the bridge jumpers. Just jump, already. -

I was there and cringing every time the guy was on the ice. He really took one for the team removing himself from the game by fighting, though. We need, need, need Jochen Hecht back. Connolly wouldn't hurt, either. Because these tired (Numminen, Lydman) and sh------- (Fitz, Campbell to a lesser extent) blue-liners are killing us. We at least need to get the special teams back in rocking order to have a fighting chance in the playoffs. Pominville's been sleeping, too. Lindy needs to wake his ass up with a benching. Other than that, they gave great effort in the first and made some nice moves in a messy second. The third was dreadful and Lundqvist seemed to give the Rangers a needed spark. -
He read in paper good.

Hey, they got a first for Bledsoe. They should have to pay through the nose for Moulds. -
Whatever happened to that rumor? It was absolutely going to happen, then it was pushed off until the beginning of calendar year '06, now what? These guys need some new duds to bring on the pride and look sharp in.

The Sabes are staring a three-game losing streak in the face. If they can't figure out some third period magic and come up with a tie, that does not bode well for this team's chances against the conference's premier teams in the playoffs. Four second period goals on Miller is not cool. Anyone watching this game got any dirt on whether these were just shots that were too good, defensive breakdowns, or if Miller is having confidence issues? Fingers crossed for Pominville and co. to get something rolling. We need a battle like this.

Aaron Brooks to the Raidahs.

That was one bad play among many. I didn't say I was giving MeatHead a pass on his Holcomb-centered play-calling. I'm just saying generally the attack was more balanced when he was in there. The Bills didn't win those games on Holcomb's arm alone, and Mularkey didn't force them to.
-
You're hitting crusade territory. Already you've hit upon a page worth of criticisms. Can't you let your 'work' thus far speak for itself?
-
H_A, I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Only because I feel very strongly that the playcalling took a drastic turn for the worse with Losman in there. If you look at the number of poorly designed running plays called, when they were called, and how they set up Losman's passing downs it's ridiculous, as if Mularkey just didn't even know what to do with a young QB -- namely, protect him, set him up with a consistent, run-first attack, and offer limited, high-percentage opportunities. It's easy to see that this has worked with Big Ben. Now I'm not saying that JP has shown the poise in there that Roethlisberger has displayed, but what I am saying is that Mularkey called a safer game with Holcomb in there than he did with Losman. Perhaps that's an arm-strength thing, and MM felt he could rely on JP's deep game more to the detriment of the run, but MM used the run to set up an efficient passing game from Holcomb. He didn't even try to do that with Losman. There's my argument that they didn't have the same tools. And please be balanced in your criticism of the O-line. If it sucked for Holcomb -- and it most certainly did -- it sucked for Losman. This had an effect on each QB, sadly to the point that Holcomb got a concussion and JP suffered what turned out to be a season-ending setback. I'd rate KH's comparative success vs. JP as a result of experience -- experience that the latter needs to succeed.

Hi safety valve was a stone-handed Josh Reed.

Thanks for posting this. I have insider but probably wouldn't have found it on my own. My one problem is that now that the media is starting to take notice, the team is faltering a bit. We need two strong games, 3-4 points out of these next two with the Canes and Ottawa. Can't wait to see them pummel the troll (Kasparaitis) on Monday night.

Moulds given permission to seek trade
RuntheDamnBall replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends. Some team might feel there is possibility for a restructure / pay cut if they are "good enough" to warrant it for the good of the team. I'm sure that's part of the discussions Moulds and his stupid advisors are having with other franchises. -

Some were saying the same thing about T. Henry last year. Wait and see. -

Horn's 34, getting a little long in the tooth, and had an injury last year. I'm not sure he'd get in the way if the Saints liked Moulds. Again, I'm just speculating. Philly does indeed seem like a surer fit. Not certain about Denver. Seems like Rod Smith will never leave (or drop off in production) there. -

Pure speculation here, but I wonder if Moulds would be interested in N.O. That would be a trade-up, first-for-first plus Moulds, that I could deal with, securing us a shot at Williams or Ferguson. The Saints are closer to Mississippi (his home state, right?). -
It's the little things that are missing from the Simpsons. They used to be truly imaginative, coming up with fictional stand-ins for real life situations and institutions that they could really poke fun at -- in great detail -- everything in a scene and in the background was funny. They also had a real knack for the absurd, like having Professor Frink come up with some ridiculous solution like the house on stilts in the cat-burglar episode or the giant robot bear for Mr. Burns. Now they just try to be so hip that it's really pathetic -- it shows in the guest stars, too, like bringing in an American Idol guest and actually centering the show on it -- doesn't touch bringing in James Woods to work at the Kwik-E-Mart for a character study. They've just lost it. Completely. It's the writing -- their writers now are people who loved the show as kids/teens and they just don't have it AT ALL.
