A Rennaissance for those of low standards. For others he was a limelighter who was part of the decline.

Interesting take, buftex. Yours realizes some feelings I had, but I could only find a few choice instances during the RJ-DF squabble to point to. I think people underestimate the effect that DF-as-new-leader-and-media-darling had on some Bills that, as buftex says, had given their hearts and souls for this team. Wade ran some great defenses but could not and did not manage that situation well at all. DF only exacerbated the situation.

Shame on you for understanding the game of football. -
Call for examples of Losman's "attitude"

That's pretty much the way I've seen it. -
Are there any future "Wall of Fame" candidates...
RuntheDamnBall replied to LevysEraII's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm hoping with some good years Takeo Spikes Terrence McGee, assuming continued ST return dominance and Brian Moorman all make the Wall. In the as-of-right-now-wishful-thinking category, I think many here would be pleased to see Losman, McGahee, and Evans become all-time great Bills. Right now that's a dream. -
I was talking with a Bills fan I met today, and he said the Bills should have drafted Leinart and gotten rid of Losman. Assuming hotter heads prevailed and this ridiculous suggestion became reality, I wanted to know why, and the gentleman said he "didn't like Losman's attitude." Now, I've heard rumors, and I saw pre-draft reports, but I would love to see some of those who are in the anti-Losman camp come up with something written, some direct quotes, or some statements from Bills players that really call attention to Losman's poor attitude. What I have heard are measured responses from Bills players that seemed to say that they didn't think that his being handed the job was good for him or the team, a notion it seems Losman himself agrees with. What I have read are articles that seem to say the guy values the chance he's been given, is conscientious, likes Buffalo, and understands he needs to work hard to earn the job this year. What I'm looking for is undisputable information that says the guy is what a lot here seem to think he is. What I'm sick of is unsubstantiated evidence that is giving the guy a bad rap and seen as grounds for judgment when the guy has started all of 8 NFL games. Judging him on his football merits, or worries on a lack thereof, are something quite different and, IMO, justifiable to this point. I still think the investment and the reports on him merit a real chance this year. Those who feel differently and have some statements to back it up, step up, why don't you?

Could it be the Bucs are already displeased with

Jags/Bucs | Williams not sure where he is, but pretty sure he is hungry Mon, 15 May 2006 16:44:12 -0700 While the uncertainty of his football whereabouts continues, Florida newspapers report that Jaguars/Buccaneers OT/G Mike Williams has signed a guaranteed one-hour contract with Hardees worth 14 Double Bacon Cheese Thickburger® Value Meals. The deal carries a significant risk for Hardees custodial staff, but is seen as a vote of confidence for the restaurant chain's seating booths, whose load-bearing capacities had been privately questioned in recent reports. -
Doug Flutie to make important announcement

Oh yes, and LOTS of playoff wins! Dougie would have won it, I know. Because Dougie was a superlative special teams player and coach in addition to being the most wondrous figure to line up under center post-Kelly. Have higher standards, people. And yes, that is a pun. -

The irony in all that was that one could visualize a lot of NFL players longing to successfully drop-kick Flutie through the uprights. -

I believe the announcement will be regarding his exciting new career as a jockey. -
Does Vancouver have a Canuck-ball team? Ricky could probably thrive there.

It's amazing how fast people forget that Jim Kelly and Bruce Smith were ace jerks for a lot of their time in the league.

Right about now, the funk-soul brotha BOO-YA! -
If we do that, either way the damage is done and he is a hero. Execution and his going suspiciously missing are no different in terms of what we project towards the Muslim world. You have to publicly take small steps like this to make those possibly sympathetic on the "other side" realize that the people in charge of them are the tyrants, not us, and that there's a third way outside of secular tyranny and religious tyranny. Any steps we take to the contrary (and we've taken many) only add to the Islamofascists' bulletin board, to use a football metaphor poorly. We're better; then let's prove it. I realize some might think we have nothing to prove, but 1) we've made plenty of mistakes and 2) in any case, being the best is something you have to prove daily. EDIT: And don't mistake me for a total dove here, either: I heard some of the transcripts and they make me want blood. If it were my wife on one of those planes, that feeling would surely be intensified exponentially. All the same, I know that to act on those emotions would be to simply engage in their game, and that's a complete downward spiral.

I think denying him the pleasure of martyrdom and not granting him his desired legacy is the better punishment. In so doing, we rightly cast ourselves as above these monsters, monsters though they may be. It's not weakness, it's not mercy.

I can't believe this is a story when real important things like baseball not authenticating Barry Bonds' No. 715 ball are going on. This is all a distraction from the only real story of Barry Bonds. -

Now that's funny. Growing up in Fredonia, I can tell you those dudes got away with plenty during camp. -
Bingo. Glad someone gets it. Or are you just trying to take away kids' "rights" to eat McDonalds?
-
Obviously not all issues are in the same realm of importance, Bill, that's why you have different, local levels handling them. A school board can't do a whole lot about illegal aliens in the hospitals, but they are able to shut the door to unhealthy habits within the school by not actually selling unhealthy products. I'm somewhat shocked that you find the problem to be that kids dying in wars can't buy smokes, instead of the fact that they're dying in wars.
-
They can. At the store.
-
Didn't you kind of say as much that you as a kid took your milk money and used it for candy? What's the difference here, then? A kid could do the same thing and spend his lunch money on candy and soda these days, at school. At least you saved it to use it elsewhere. It wasn't like the schools were promoting it. I'm not saying you were wrong to do so; many kids will do this sort of thing because kids are more impulsive, and yeah, candy tastes better than school lunch. I'm saying that having these machines in school actually creates a situation in which this sort of thing is encouraged because it brings in money for the schools. It's no grand conspiracy -- simply, schools look to supplement their budgets with soda-contracts, and these companies prey on kids' impulses.
-
That's awesome. Continued good wishes.

He could also buy and bring a golddarned can of pop from home if it's that important to him. The point is that they're encouraging good nutritional choices, and not enabling and even endorsing bad ones, by not offering soda. BTW, An 18 year-old can go out and buy smokes, but he can't buy them in school. Your argument is ludicrous. The only people "suffering" here are the filthy-rich soft-drink manufacturers that have been socking it to schools and kids.

sweet mother of god...the new superman

I dunno. Hackman over Spacey by a country mile. And it definitely looks like they're running with the formula and stylization that made X-Men and Spiderman successful. I wish they'd do something a little more classic-seeming. This doesn't seem to jive with the DC comics feel. Just me. I'm going to go back to the basement till Mom calls me for dinner now.
