  1. It's hard for me to understand why this is a debatable point. Again, can't complain about the loss. Got to be happy with the major breaks (Megatron's general absence, the FG misses, Watkins making a bailout catch that, AGAIN, he did not make last week).
  2. "Long enough for other teams to have figured him out" for $200, Alex.
  3. ^^ A statement absolutely no one would be making if the Lions kicker hadn't been, you know, awful. Take the win. Keep the mythology.
  4. Oh good god, get over yourself. Someone hire the Barbarian, he knew Luck would be good.
  5. Now here's a quarterback with accuracy you can count on. 53.2%. C'est magnifique!
  6. I imagine having EJ in there would have made at least two of those Detroit FGs good, I'm sure you're on to something. And Watkins' biggest play -- one king hell of a grab on the kind of pass he didn't haul in last week. Narratives are fun though. Enjoy it.
  7. Happy with the win. Does the win need to be accompanied with an inflation of the accomplishment, though, especially with "Orton did X thing that EJ would never do?" That's about the size of it. Orton was the beneficiary of 3 missed FGs, threw a pick-6, and drove his team to a pretty damn distant FG range to clinch it. And the Watkins pass was all on Sammy, making a great catch that he was unable to come up with last week on a ball where the QB did not make it easy on him. The Goodwin pass was awesome, though. I hope the guy can take us far, but we are not winning many games like this. Hopefully it's just rust.
  8. Are those goalposts even still in the stadium at this point?
  9. Maybe DET's kicker should get one, too, if the criteria are that loose.
  10. stupid EJ with all these short passes to Fred Jackson.
  11. Don't worry, Gilmore will turn into a decent #2 CB by year 5.
  12. Veteran presents... for the other team.
  13. Anyone still singing the praises of Nathaniel Hackjob's offense now that it has the missing piece at QB?
  14. Jeez - I am glad that's not our investment, but that sucks for him.
  15. Perhaps he is learning from a vet like CJ Spiller.
  16. I read it for the articles. Wait, what? But really this, plus you, Kirby.
  17. This, all of it. Sammy, of course, has been playing with injuries and those are in no small part due to his QB and his struggles. But that said, until he's not EJ's teammate, the only focus should be on what's going to help EJ get better. Everyone is one crushing Suh sack away from playing with the guy again. Then what? Complain? Or go to work? I know what Freddy will be doing.
  18. The Twitter commenter strikes me as a classic internet cowboy, and I don't think this kind of person needs to be encouraged. People use the medium far too frequently to make cheap shots and I think it makes us less human. I'm not saying I never engage in the same, but I try to keep perspective. EDIT: Or think about it this way - You've come close to losing a person very close to you to cancer. You're having a rough week at work but you want to do something positive in light of that experience. You share this with the public. They come back at you with jokes about how you suck at your job. Is that cool?
  19. Sensitive? No. Why is anyone equally sensitive to the idea that it's a stupid joke? And the sensitivity, if there is any, is about trying to cut down a guy who is doing something positive at every f---ing turn. It's stupid and the mark of an insecure person.
  20. I don't know how this one slipped me by, but you're so right.
  21. Hey it's funny that something bad happened at your job and your mom almost died derrr har har.
  22. Lots of people relish the opportunity to be a dick, especially on the internet where no one can track them down. If you've got a problem with EJ's play, that's cool, but I don't understand why anyone feels they've earned the right to make it personal just because they donate their ass to a couch on Sunday.
  23. I'm not disagreeing with that. Still, I believe his support of his teammates is genuine, and a reflection of where he's come from.
