I was watching and wasn't around to post. Nice to see that from Andre. But it's going to be a tough one in the second round against Baghdatis. I think I have to take the 7 over and see if I can get into that match on Thursday. Too good to pass up with those two playing, possibly Andre's last match. I've been rooting for the guy ever since I started watching tennis. What a career he's had.

I thought the same thing about Haggan, then had the change of heart that he has stuck around as a decent STer so far. I would not be averse to seeing him cut, though, if it's determined Ezekial or Odom is the guy. I didn't think Odom would have enough time to catch on here, though. I like Stamer. Reed's ability to block and play the slot will help him stick. Price is going to be #2, IMO. Maybe, but the DL rotation and notion of keeping guys fresh doesn't seem like it'll work if they only keep 5 guys. Sape seems to have a nose for the ball and is working OK in this system, IMO. I still think Leonhard's going to have a hard time making it with two new highly-touted rookie safeties, a tough-to-cut vet (Vincent), the recently-signed Bowen, and a hungry Rashad Baker ahead of him. I think he could cut it on the PS for another year if we wanted. I also am not married to keeping Troy Vincent. I just don't see him getting cut this year. -

I like him, he's got a lot of heart, but his size is an issue and I don't see much on kick returns from him. He is definitely far down on our list of capable candidates there. I think I missed him because I was trying to decide whether he was in cuts or PS (he is eligible for the latter, I believe), and didn't finish a copy-paste. -

Aha, thanks. I meant to have him on the roster only. I think Goldsberry has looked like a decent run blocker, which is probably expectation No. 1 of his position. I would prefer Ricard made it over Shelton, but I don't think it'll happen. -
Some are in depth-chart order (QB), while others are obviously not (LB). Those last 3-4 cuts are damn near impossible. Also, I can't figure out for the life of me who deserves to be #4 DE but I can't see them going with only 3. It's also still possible they look to move Holcomb (Indy might like him), and then what? My somewhat surprise cuts are Wire, Shaud Williams, Joe Burns, Ricard (I want him to make it but think his injuries and late entrance to camp hurt him), Andre Davis. It was tough to cut 3 draft picks (Ellison, Pennington, Merz) and Ezekial. OL: I would love to see Greg Jerman run out of town but sadly he is what passes for experienced offensive line depth on this team. Only six linebackers will stay (Ezekial is gone, I think) so that we can keep nine offensive linemen. I think it's a poor strategy (we have a lot of young PS-type guys on the OL that we should probably look at and call up if someone gets hurt instead of going with a liability like Jerman), but I think that's how the coaches will see it. DE: I am guessing on Powell by virtue of the depth chart. If pressed I'd say no 4th DE deserves to make this roster and would keep another LB instead. S: I also say four safeties instead of five, which is a nice luxury we can't afford. I prefer Baker over Bowen and say it stays that way at least until Bowen is healthy. Bowen will go on PUP/Reserve-Injured and miss the first 6 games, at which point a decision will need to be made. WRs: George Wilson deserves to be on this team. Andre Davis does not, based on what I've seen. Peerless probably redeemed himself enough to merit the starting nod this time out. The Freddie/Jonathan/Freddie/Fast/Hey-Wait,-He's-Not-Really-That-Fast Smith Experiment is over. RBs: I wish the Daimon Shelton Experiment was over. The guy can't catch a cold in a rainstorm, and his blocking is nothing to write home about, either. I'm picking him only because it seems like the team believes in the guy for some inexplicable reason. Joe Burns will rightfully be gone. Shaud Williams is another luxury we can't afford. He can make some nifty runs but they usually happen on 3rd and 15 anyway, and Gates' and Thomas' running fits our style and need for an abusive running game (for the defense, not the Bills fan). Note: also look for Nick Setta to be kicker of the future, and signed to the PS. He has the following going for him: 1) he's pretty good, 2) girls think he's cute, 3) Lindell's contract is up after this season, and 4) he can also punt. Emphasis on #3. I don't see this team tying up a bunch more money in a kicker if it thinks a young guy can do it (which may or may not backfire -- see: Patriots, also: past Bills kicking debacles). I was talking about football production.
-
No, he is a football genius in the LaDairis mold who is fighting away NFL contracts with a stick.
-
Size and college production... Upside.
-
Not just wants him, but wants him on their roster. Plenty of teams would love him for their PS, but that's a luxury only we have.
-
Sure they do, but they will spend that roster spot on a guy they think can come in and contribute. Every team has its own projects. They are not going to take on another's. He can fit on our PS and as has been repeated around here, he is only going to get picked up for another team's roster -- not their PS. You could probably have said the same kind of crap about our current starting RT when he was cut a few years ago, signed to the PS, and developed. People never get sick of instant gratification, though.

practice squad cut. done early while teams don't have long to look at other teams' cuts.

Why, do you know a guy? -
Very possible they're kind of hiding him the way they did Peters so he can slip through to the PS. Not a problem to me.
-
Because, like, Aaron Brooks is all-world.
-
I'm still trying to figure out the genius of how a guy born in 1879 wrote a riddle in the early 19th century.
-
Correct. The Meditteranean contains all the best spots to build "Whitney and Osama's" theme parks.

Also scheduled on the NFLN for 6am Sunday for the third-shifters and TiVo crowd.

It costs more cap money, but not more cash. That could be saved to allow us the resources for spending next year or getting someone to extend. Tell me, would you rather have an extra half million to offer to your favorite free agent, or have it going to a noodle-armed benchwarmer with a few stellar games and a host of mediocre ones under his belt?

It seems that Losman gets too amped up...

1) Why be a killjoy in just about every thread? 2) People who went to the games pointed out that as a weapon and not as the basis for the offense, JP is able to utilize it well. Nobody is arguing that the no-huddle should be the base offense or a heavy part of it as it was in Jimbo's day -- just that it shouldn't be abandoned completely when it happens to be something our young QB runs pretty damned efficiently. -
This is a pretty interesting post, but I have to take issue with these three statements together. Favre is the only one of these three to have won anything. He's had as much regular season success as Manning and he has a ring. McNair has been awesome but he also had his injury struggles. He might make it to the HoF eventually. Favre, on the other hand, has been pretty dependable until about the past year. Also, it says here that there have certainly been questions about naming Aikman to the HoF, few though they may be. He had a superb cast surrounding him, far better than Favre has ever had. Favre, OTOH, is a unanimous first-balloter. He and Reggie White brought football back to GB in a big way. I think he is by and large the best QB pick of the decade, especially considering he was a second-rounder.

Wiretapping ruled unconstitutional
RuntheDamnBall replied to Chilly's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No question. I was citing that as a favorable quality. I do think there are reasons to dig for interpretation in the law -- a lot of judges will twist the law a bit to overrule a "will of the people" that proves to be more of a tyranny of the majority -- and I think we saw that with major civil rights cases. Even so, I'll agree that it's best when these rights can be grounded in and found within the law, instead of extracted from it, if that makes any sense. -
