I love this. Try and cite history accurately as opposed to depicting the people of Western heritage as lily-white and incapable of wrongdoing, and the retort is always "Blame whitey," "Blame America First™" "Sure, blame us." It's a great deflectionary tool for when people would rather not examine our past and roles in history with any sort of balance. Oh, yes, it's as bad as "BushBad," believe it or not. I'm thankful someone has a rational worldview around here. Thanks for the illuminating posts, CTM.

Poor, poor example. Rosa Parks should have realized she had to take a back seat? Current-day Muslims' struggles are anything like that of blacks in America -- a history of enslavement and then treatment as second-class citizens? You have completely lost me on this one, man. Muslims in the ME's real problem is leadership that doesn't work for them, whether that's in the fundamentalist schools, the terrorist organizations that claim to be on their side, or in the crooked governments.

Right. Because that fifty yard pass that led to the TD must have come from nowhere. if that pass isn't on target, there's no interference. And throwing the red-zone TD to follow, certainly cake. Tell it to Mike "King Inside the 20" Mularkey. And JP really should have better control of Josh Reed on Roscoe's called-back TD. The kid made plays. Circumstances were weird yesterday, certainly. But he did a good enough job to win and yesterday's numbers lie in a way that suits the detractors.

A Few Quick Thoughts On The Game
RuntheDamnBall replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who else is beyond thankful that this coaching staff could see Crowell deserved this job more than that stiff Posey? -
You might not have said that centuries ago. History moves slowly.

Ah, what a gem that thread was.

Will my services be needed this week?

Buffalo 16, Miami 6. -
I don't buy it. His average was great and if they could have committed to the ground game they very well could have beaten us. It was a function of playcalling that he did not shred us today, not Ronnie Brown's limitations.

I second this nomination. That INT was CRUCIAL. They had just driven down the field on us and we sent 'em to the locker room with nothing. Awesome.

So now you are chastizing him for the bad play he DIDN'T make? You are a rare one. Horseshit. You are comparing the world fukking champions with the longest tenured coach in the league with a new team with a new coach and new systems. With two new starters on the line. If you look at today's game you see this team taking what the Dolphins gave them -- which was superb coverage on the WRs and some big gaps for the run game. (BTW this is precisely why Belicheck wins games -- he adjusts, constantly, to counter opponents' strategies). The endless anti-Losman crusade around here is beyond tiresome. His rating was good and he won, so now you're looking for something else to complain about. Not enough yards, he might have thought about making a bad decision even though he didn't. He should take the sack when he throws it away. He should throw it away when he takes the sack. We won. Deal with it and enjoy it like the rest of us. Jesus.

When's the last time anybody mentioned Tom Modrak? Has he pretty much receded to backroom draft dealings/scouting and moved out of the public eye? I know he's not in Buffalo much but I'm sure he's still on the payroll. It's funny that whenever our draftees are mentioned Marv is in the discussion but not Modrak, long considered a premier talent evaluator (and a guy that many here would have been fine giving the GM job to if he had wanted it). Just stirring up some discussion. Anyone else heard more about him than I have? Perhaps Modrak is really SOPRANO?

Oh, I'm just razzing you man. Keep posting. Lord knows I've posted my share of mistakes around here. Hell, in the last week I came up with the Pats playing the Giants instead of the Jets (misread b/c I saw they were playing at Giants STADIUM), and called Keith Ellison "Ralph." Don't let a bastard like me get you down. We are all indeed rooting for the same team. And they were pleasing to watch today. Glad to hear you're representing BUFFALO in the ATL.

How sweet it is.

Nobody beats "The Beast." Except for those few Miami players. I'm a little less effusive in my praise of Ol' Milwaukee, but he's an OK nickel. Probably helps to have his experience.

Welcome to the board. We like to extend warm wishes and tips to our Bills fan brethren, so this might help. or this. or maybe this? Go Bills!

There was some really awesome wide receiver play this week. Chris Chambers' catch was really pretty amazing from a football standpoint (not from a Bills one, of course), Coles had an incredible catch-and-run, and that WR from the Bears had an impressive catch as well. Johnson was money as usual.

Week 2 Predictions
RuntheDamnBall replied to GhostsOfTheRockpile's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good. We don't need their attention. We'll be too busy winning and growing as a team to worry about it. -
PS -- his learning is going to happen a lot more quickly if we can get some wins like this. Roethlisberger has had more than his share of them.

You know it's a great day...
RuntheDamnBall replied to Toledo Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, I looked at the two-pointer as a real point to build on for our team. We needed to stop them there to really deflate their hopes of a comeback. In steps Whitner for the big stop. The future is now. !@#$ rebuilding. We're building a champion. -
We all know that's effusive praise coming from you, when it seems like you'd like to see these guys fail at every turn just to prove you were right all along. BTW 1) how did Bennie look today? Awesome, huh? 2) Our line looked BAD BAD BAD. Fowler did not have it today and Villarial needs to yield to the Duke.

No one's claiming we're an elite team. I'm just saying, JP did everything the game plan asked of him. If the game plan includes some better blocking, you'll see bigger numbers out of him. I'm going to defer to the poster who mentioned how often it occurs that the QB with the big numbers lost in a valiant effort -- because his team was behind. JP managed the game efficiently with the lead. And they never played like the lead was in danger. They controlled possession, let the defense do its work, and took Ronnie Brown out of this game. That was huge.

The whole city of Buffalo beats Mularkey
RuntheDamnBall replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Today, we are all Buffalonians. DIE MIAMI! -
Jon from upstate NY can suck it. If Evans catches the one that went for pass interference (and he would have) there's fifty yards right there. And the pass to Roscoe was another 20. Hell, Willis McGahee didn't even have 100 yards today, horror of horrors. Let's get rid of him, too. If you don't want to root for the Bills and JP Losman, go take up in FLA with the genius and Mularkey. Losman did everything that was asked of him today.
