  1. Duke had some very bad and some very good moments today. I expect better when he has a full week of reps with the first team line. I think we'll be alright.
  2. Very, very glad that we came out with a win in the kind of game in which we usually find ways to lose. The broadcast sucked, however. First of all, all the shots were close-ups. None of the crowd at all. You could hardly tell this was a sellout crowd of over 70,000 people who were there until the end. The sound was terrible. I could again hardly tell a crowd existed. Whenever I changed to another football game I had to turn the volume way down. And Terry Donahue sounds like Kirk van Houten from the Simpsons. I was waiting for him to break out into "Can I Borrow a Feeling?" Replays on the incessant penalties were minimal and unhelpful. The analysis of the bull sh-- interference with fair-catch call was dead wrong, of course. A little thing to vent about, but annoying. I guess I'm glad it's at least available to watch.
  3. You're right. Everything that's gone wrong the past two years is all Losman's fault. This team is a Trent Dilfer away from Super Bowl greatness. I have seen the light and worship your genius.
  4. This is really, really crappy. This defense needs TKO. It is average without him, and incredible with him.
  5. That's the first time I've ever agreed with you.
  6. I guess the real cynicism is in believing that that's the only way we'll ever be able to operate. That we're in a sense.... DOOOOOOMED.
  7. Isn't that in part due to the fact that he has a lot of moderate liberal support? The guy is not a hardcore conservative in the least. If liberals feel he represents them, why would they pour effort and money into a losing cause?
  8. That's hogwash. I buy real pierogies from real Polish and Russian people here. Of course, if this is a Mrs. T's contest, it begins to make sense.
  9. OK, I've officially hijacked this thread. If you want to make it out alive, do as I say.
  10. I think you can if doing just that is antithetical to the kind of campaign he says he's going to run, and the kind of person he's claiming to be. If you're going to say "any contending politician is to some degree a hypocrite," then perhaps you're right. I hope/wish it's not that cynical.
  11. Are you referring to the people who vote for them, or the people who make it pretty much impossible for anything other situation to exist?
  12. Basically. Except for he's trying to manufacture the image that he's not one. A double hypocrisy.
  13. Well, then end the pretense that he's not beholden to special interests. Because these two parties are about as exemplary a definition of special interests as I can find. He wears the maverick label like a medal, but he'll kiss ass if he needs to to win. He'll throw principle to the wind if it means he'll win. I won't be voting for him, ever.
  14. News flash, dude: there are liberals who root for the Bills and the team hasn't left town yet. Of course, it hasn't won the Super Bowl and it may yet leave town, so feel free to blame us.
  15. I know you weren't asking me, but IMO McCain is a douche. He has marketed himself as the total "anti-polician" while making decidedly political moves. The McCain I would even entertain voting for died, the moment he put his lips on W's ass after the dirty campaign Rove ran against him. The McCain I would even entertain voting for would have denounced that kind of campaign for good and looked for a third party to run on after being sold down the river by his own. Instead, he's looking to see if they'll help him out next time. I've agreed with a few of his policies, but he's a long way from being a candidate I'd support in a national election.
  16. What's the Buffalo sports record with the Clintons in attendance? I know we have at least one Sabres win... Edit: shall I say it? Say what you want about Clinton, he just wins...
  17. Depends on where you're from. You can also drink Molson XXX and or Natural Ice.
  18. Both class acts and talented ex-Bills. Gotta like the way they play, and the way they played here. I also hope they don't have one of their better days at the Ralph, but I wish them well.
  19. It's the "whoah, get ready for Brady Quinn" posts, and "Losman does not have the tools" posts, and "he is not an NFL quarterback" posts, and the "he sucked this week, so he will never get better" posts, the stuff that is about as far from "let's wait and see" as can be -- that's the sh-- that gets annoying. As if we're a QB away from the Super Bowl and JP's play is all that's holding the team back. It's the kind of mentality that has had this team out of the playoffs for years. No patience for growth, all reactionary decisions that have hurt this team in the long run. Losman supporters and those who want to believe probably play right into it (myself included) by trying to defend all the time. I just think the jury is still out and it might just be best to leave it at that for awhile. I feel like the team is being managed by capable hands. I like the tack Jauron is taking -- one of patient yet stern guidance, with an emphasis on mistake-free football. They'll know whether or not JP continues to deserve a chance, or has "made it" to the next level in their eyes. That's all that matters. BTW to KTFABD: great post as usual.
  20. It's a perception based partly on race and on the economic backgrounds of these players that this has made "criminals in the NFL" a media story. Look up the stats on your congressmen and you'll find that the percentages of bad behavior are more out of whack there than in the NFL.
  21. These must not be NYC liberals.
