Can I ask a couple of stupid questions?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Interesting stuff, thanks for posting it. -
Apparently those machines take 3 hours to fix if they break down though and then it's to the paper ballots.

Best thing for Republicans . . .

Does the electricity go out in your house when you try to construct a thought, or even a sentence in English? If the "Dims" are really as dim as your superior intellect seems to gauge, they should have no problem getting kicked out. God, I feel dumber having read and responded to this. -
Come on, Jim. "Democratic Party," not "Democrat Party." You can't really be falling in line that easily, can you? Don't be a sheep.

Mike, if you'd like to ask some stupid questions, in the future please direct them to the football board. Make sure they have something to do with starting Nall. -
http://workingfamiliesparty.org/ I sense the sarcasm, but you also support a DEMOCRATICally elected REPUBLIC, so it's a whole case of what's in a name and what sounds good. To be honest, a good number of the WF endorsed candidates are Dems but I'd rather vote for the small party so they get better representation and perhaps will put forth more of their own candidates in the future. Also, there were a few races here like State Assembly where the candidate on the Demo line was someone I didn't care for and someone different was running on the WF line. These parties tend to do more in the ground level races around NYC.

In NYS I voted on the working famililes line for most of the candidates. I could not vote for Hevesi or that schmuck Cuomo. Took the Green Party line on both AG and Comptroller.

Projections - JPs worst is yet to come

Precisely why the A Train is going to be the key to our performance next week. I wouldn't for a million years bet on this game, but Jauron is not stupid. He knows what is going to work and what isn't against this team. -
JP Losman I have been a supporter

We tried and fukked it up even worse is what we did. -
So, basically JP bailed out the defense today?

I think it took awhile for AT to get on track. I also think that penalties consistently hold these guys back just when they look like they are doing something. You look at plays like the one JP got to Evans earlier on on a third and long. Both knew how to make something happen there, they had just been in too deep a hole from a first and 20. -
Wrong. Brad Johnson was drafted in the NINTH round, not the first. Jim Kelly never fumbled or threw interceptions. Sincerely, Cement Headed-Bills Fan No. 20,304 So Nall won't need to develop or learn on the job, but Losman does? Can you give me your report on how awesome Nall is at making reads or looking off his receivers or throwing 40 yard touchdown passes. Of course you can. Thanks for your expert analysis. I hear they're hiring at OBD. Your logic is so amazing assinine, to paraphrase stojan. We need to put in another QB with <5 games of experience to see if he doesn't need to learn and we need to rebuild even more than we already do? WTF?

I guess we should have a Sabres/Rangers thread

I went to the game. The calls were pretty ticky tack in the 2nd period, at least a few of them. They didn't appear to be playing a much different game in the 3rd but voila -- no calls. It was nice to walk out of the building with a W and to hear all the "Let's go Buffalo" chants going on. The Blue and Gold showed up for sure. I thought Stafford and Paille looked pretty sharp. Paille even did his best Max pre-06 impression, taking it to the house only to come up short after some nifty puck movement. Paetsch is still learning, some good things and some bad things. People don't realize though how adept Tallinder is at helping out his goalie. His is a huge loss. Go SABRES! -
Anyone here from Nevada?

A friend of a friend is working on that campaign initiative. They appear to be making some waves, but I have no quantitative data to report on the situation. We'll find out in 36 hours or so, won't we? -

your football humor is almost as good as your political jokes. -
How many years of experience does their QB have? IIRC Harrington was run out of town on a rail in Detroit. Yet, he has four years of seeing NFL defenses behind him. Only a fool would not be able to make that distinction.

Rewind your tivo and look at the pass to Robert Royal for a first down after the dude had just had a false start penalty on the first drive. JP did exactly that and sidestepped the rush. But whatever helps you make your point. On one of the ensuing plays we subsequently lost our number one weapon on offense and you're acting like it's no big deal, like things should have just continued to work magically. -
You are not alone, my friend. Not alone at all. Being at today's Sabres game gave me welcome respite from Mr. Cougar and the cavalcade of Chevy patriotism™. This commercial is no match for the truck going through the center of the earth to China. It's amazing that ad execs are so desperate they are tapping Looney Tunes for ideas these days.

Yes, they probably would have. We would already have been in the thick of the war and Saddam would have been captured. I'm not sure how things would be going over there with Kerry vs. Bush, but I don't see what our presidential election would have had to do with their legal proceedings. I am totally missing the connection you're trying to make here. Am I to praise Bush because the Iraqi courts condemned a bad man to death?

Evans not cutting it as #1 WR ...
RuntheDamnBall replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You've got to be kidding. JP hooked up with Evans for a TD three times in one GAME last year. JP tries to get him the ball all the time. Fact is, he's double- and triple-covered with little to no help from Reed, Price and whomever is manning the fourth spot these days. Let's also mention that Roscoe has been hurt and his absence has been hurting the offense. Having that speed threat in there is absolutely a big deal. -

Obviously, I don't equate being gay with being a drug abuser, so I find it difficult to argue with you on those grounds. But I think if we were talking about a recovering alcoholic talking to people about his past that is one thing. This is more akin to a guy hiding his past and chiding others for having the same past, which just might be beyond his control and genetically wired into him. It would be like a drinker telling his son on the phone not to drink while he sips from a flask. Now alcoholism can be proven to be harmful to someone physically. Being a gay person cannot, any more than being a straight person, assuming you are having healthy, honest relationships. (The AIDS argument doesn't wash precisely because of this.) Society has made this very difficult for all gay people and created a secret society of transgression instead of offering a space for gays to have healthy relationships. That's part of what the marriage idea is about -- admitting that these relationships can be healthy and stable. That's what I hope is changing. I'm not condemning the guy. I'm attacking his position, which I view as hypocritical. I have no problem whatsoever with the potentiality that he is gay; and in fact I'm not even accusing him of being gay if you want to put it that way. Crying about gay-bashing from the right doesn't work because every postion the right has taken in terms of legislation has been worse for gays than any mere cry of hypocrisy could be. -
What are the Bills to learn from a hockey team's success that they don't already know? That playing as a team = good? That having balanced talent all the way around is a good way to build a winner? That players buying into a system will help? I'm certain they know all of these things. It's the execution they're having a problem with.
-
I'm a fan of the idea of balanced scoring. It wouldn't help the Sabres out much, but all games should equal the same amount of points the way they did prior to the OTL 1 point rule. If all games are valued at three points apiece, it can work as follows: WIN 3 pts OT / SO WIN 2 pts OT / SO LOSS 1 pt LOSS 0 pts This way every game adds up to a result of 3 pts distributed between the two teams. No game is worth more than any other (i.e. some worth 2, some end up worth 3).
