If they don't draft 3 first-day defensive backs, I'll never watch the Bills again.

He'll never make it. I can see the campaign ads now: "Rudy Giuliani: soft on large boat's" (sic) -

I don't recall his really doing much to improve the ferry system here, but if you look at his maintaining the status quo with the Staten Island Ferry still running for free in addition to the others, I suppose you're right. Good call. We should stop wasting our tax dollars on ferrys. No possessive apostrophe in that, just so you know, though. -
losman is too short to be a good QB....

Problem with that = $$$$$. The Republican and Democratic Parties have a ton of it. Other parties, not so much. No party, no money. There was a reason that only a whackjob like Perot was able to do it to great impact; he was loaded. -

James Dobson could run for President and he'd be too liberal for you. -
This board is full of...

Could be glass half-full: 1) Our defense, despite the fact that it couldn't stop the run to save its life, held Manning and co. to 17 points. 2) In light of the way this team folded like a wallet against the Pats and Bears, this result is a marked improvement. 3) There is a half-season left to play with some winnable games. Hold out hope that we've already hit the lows and the young guys on the line learn. Villarial's injury could prove a godsend if Aaron Merz can get out there and show us what he's got. -
Why do people still support Jp?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It ain't that common around here. -
If they show me the money and they want me, and especially if it's a system that'll let me shine, hell yes. Money should not be an object this offseason. The only qualifying factor for any player we sign should be "will he make this team considerably better?" I've gone Bill from NYC : we need to pay dudes whatever it takes this offseason, so long as it doesn't throw our cap way out of whack.

Give me an A..N..T..O..N..I..O.. ... GATES, GATES, GATES. Give JP one and he might look light years better, too.

I'm not joking about Rosenfels. I'm talking about the Bills' inability to solve the guy last year. God, am I glad Jerry Gray is gone. BTW, karma clearly does not exist in football. If it did the douchebags would never win. And we know that's not the case.

Hell yes. Though I prefer "Here Comes a Regular" or "Bastards of Young." -
Well, at least we have a week to game-plan for the great Sage Rosenfels and Eric Moulds taking himself out of the game can only help us this time.

"Some" Supporters here of JP are TOO protective
RuntheDamnBall replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Believe what you will, but tons of players have filled in and had a good game here or there. Once teams could game-plan for Flutie and he was the main guy under center, he was easy to stop. Nice context, btw, because Flutie started the next game even though the one you posted was apparently his last start. Care to look at the next game? BTW, the "Loserman," "Loseman," "Lossman" sh-- gets real old, real quick. For one, you crybabies should standardize and choose one. Then, perhaps when you pass sixth grade, you could come up with better analyses and skip the namecalling altogether. -

RuntheDamnBall replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, and for better or worse, Flutie would play his game, not necessarily the coaches', and it made for some divisiveness in that locker room. Also, once his game was figured out, he was easy to shut down with a spy. I think if Losman's mobility was met halfway and treated as an asset rather than a complete fallback mechanism, you might see more success. I can't for the life of me figure out the lack of designed rollouts and the constructive use of some of his talents. I do understand the need to develop his pocket-passing game, but you need a pocket for that to happen, and in the meantime you're trying to fit a bit of a square peg into a round hole. -
Hasselback was traded, not let go in free agency. Hasselbeck was a player that the Packers still perceived some value in. Nall was not enough so for the Packers to retain him for peanuts, relatively speaking. I think that says a lot. Honestly, if the coaches felt Nall was the guy and they started him and he was successful, I'd be the first person to be happy about that development. What I am sick of from the posters is the harping on a situation that clearly is not going to change, the "I'm ready to give up on JP" posts. The staff isn't, and if we should give up on anybody, it's these dunces in front of him who can't even give him a pocket for a second at a time. I'm not superstitious but when fans don't support their team it shows. I'd rather see people get behind the people we have and prove they're in it for the long haul. Jauron showed signs of success after a couple seasons in Chi-town. No reason the same turnaround can't happen here. But it has to begin with a concerted rebuilding effort and the results aren't fun for a bit, I'll admit. All the same, I admire what Jauron is trying to do -- I hope it eventually pans out with some better line play and the emergence of JP as a viable starter. I do have my doubts, but as far as I can tell any other option is a much worse one at this juncture. A lot of problems would be solved if this guy can see the light go on in the second half of the season. I'm happy that the coaches have some resolve to stick with their plans and personnel as they see fit when we just had a pointless merry-go-round in effect last year under Mularkey. That would be much worse -- to feel like the team has tried everything and still made no progress. That word, progress, needs to be the emphasis for these next eight games.
-
Jauron stated explicitly last night in the PC that they don't have the confidence in the OFFENSIVE LINE to take shots in the end zone, particularly not against the third-ranked pass rush. But I'm sure this guy from some Buffalo business newspaper knows more about football than a guy who's spent his life in the game. Fault Jauron or Levy or Donahoe or McNally or whomever for not getting a better offensive line on the field, but I just can't see giving up on JP yet.

Next year we need to develop an offensive identity
RuntheDamnBall replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defensive identity could be "bend, don't break," with the emphasis on winning the turnover battle. The past few weeks they've pretty much done that. I'm not saying by any means they're any great shakes against the run -- they're not by any stretch of the imagination. Hopefully McCargo can come back and actually make more of a difference next year. -
Good hard fought game Bills.
RuntheDamnBall replied to ManningColts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, your team is the gold standard and in lieu of Bills success I'm happy to see the Colts -- a Polian team led by a great like Manning and a former Orangeman in Harrison -- doing well. I also appreciate seeing a positive assessment of our team from the outside. It's rare we get that these days. Many of us feel that some upgrades on the offensive line would be the real difference-maker in making this a team that can compete with anyone in this league. Thanks for the classy posts. -
Why do people still support Jp?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are going to pick up another QB it'll be one who has years of NFL experience behind him and has seen all the reads, because it's clear this is a terrible situation for a maturing QB. This line could get anyone killed. It certainly doesn't help JP make his decisions, yet he's completing close to 70% of his passes on a day like today. Guess he's still the root of all this team's problems, though You'll have to explain to me how JP Losman is so bad that he made Rian Lindell miss a 41 yarder straight ahead into the 0MPH winds of a dome, though. That's got to be the new benchmark for idiotic posts. -
You'd be remiss to not realize that the Brees of three/four years ago is a different Brees than the one of today. I'd rather see the QB we have develop like Brees did.
