  1. Not true. We were working on Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard records in the studio before the season was over. They have to have at least a single done soon after the competition.
  2. This issue also underscores our role in Pakistan-India relations and how the more micro-level issues of what goes on in gangland Mumbai are pretty related to the GWOT. Some of the guys who were involved in the Pearl assassination were let go by the Indian gov't after bombings in Mumbai. And now they're looking to do damage elsewhere.
  3. Nice straw man, there. I don't know, why don't you tell me why "they is be" targeted? Hooked on Ebonics worked for me, too.
  4. Whereas Brocton, NY is more of a demo-derby-car-on-blocks-in-the-front-lawn kind of town.
  5. I can't disagree with much of what you say. I'd still be tempted. I do think he has some mental problems, though, and you're certainly playing with fire if you do it. For a low-cost, incentive-laden contract, though? If you want one great year until you shoot for another back next year, why not? And Thurman became a Dolphin, so I could deal with it. Esp since Ricky was traded there -- it wasn't like he signed with them as a career dream. If anything, that franchise ruined him. PS -- you were at the snow game? My dad came down to NYC and we watched the game at McFadden's, light crowd since we were out of it at that point. But that game was an absolute blast to watch. We had a great time sharing a few beers and seeing Miami go down in the snow -- must have been even more fun to be there!
  6. Most people don't have an issue with it if they agree with the opinion. Just sayin'. And some people do act really self-important about it. Others just feel that they've been given an opportunity to speak their minds and that they can (not necessarily do) speak for others who don't have that opportunity. It's a fine line. I don't like the idol-worship, I don't like the idea that 'we can go save the world' and not really help others help themselves, which is much more rewarding and generates long-term results. But I think you can make a distinction between Alec Baldwin (who does all sorts of voiceover work for crummy companies, for christ's sake) and a band playing a Free Tibet concert, misguided though they may or may not be. Lastly, the great thing, to me, is that they are not forcing their point of view upon you. You can always decline to buy a ticket, album, change the channel, etc and your part of the transaction is over.
  7. S'a little harsh, I think. I'd love to have the production at RB that RW can generate. I think he got over-used and his heart was not 100% in football -- or perhaps it's that football's not that great of a place for a guy who's cast from a different mould. What you need then are good mentors. Guys like Marv As the Dean says, I'd have no issue with what he does, except that the NFL prohibits it. The fact that he hung the Dolphins out to dry, while awesome for us, is probably the better warning sign that it wouldn't be a good idea to give him a chance. A low-guarantee, incentive-laden contract, though? I might do it... Fact is the guy was a beast on the field and never harmed anybody maliciously. He was just going his own way.
  8. I thought it was Nickelslave...
  9. The better team is the Ravens, a team that couldn't score any offensive touchdowns against Indy? The better team, maybe. The better offense? I'd say ours is on the rise, while their best players are aging on an offense that's never done much but run the ball effectively.
  10. Then if you're supposedly the best, you should be helping to bring that winning attitude, not waiting for it to happen. And saying he didn't get much help and was lucky to get the 990 yards, bull sh-- -- that's placing the blame on your teammates, not accepting any for yourself. The blocking was not great. Sorry, the Willis excuse train has left town.
  11. It is Olerud. One of the sweetest swings I've ever seen. Yeah, we can agree to disagree. I love the early REM stuff and while I do think the public posturing was over the top I'd rather have someone speaking what they believe, than not believing in or caring about much of anything, which is a far worse disease among kids today. I look to those bands of the 80s underground as actually trying to take on political concerns artfully -- and I don't think there are many REM songs that are out-and-out preachy. I also have a huge bias in that I've been a big fan since my early teens and worked on a record of theirs.
  12. Can't disagree more. There aren't many good artists who haven't been accused of pretension at some point, anyway.
  13. You forgot "Wife's phone number" in there, too, AD.
  14. And no long term security. There's always someone waiting to steal your booty and plunder your household.
  15. Yeah, you might end with a joker like this guy. Simple: don't make up dumb rules or look for trends in isolated situations. Willis is gone because of his lack of desire to be the best back he could be for the Buffalo Bills. Not because he had a knee injury in college.
  16. I'm pretty sure Clayton will reproduce by binary fission. Just to clarify the situation.
  17. Gotta be impressed that that first album came mostly out of a twelve-track and a garage. The rest of their stuff, meh. I used to take that attitude that they're cheesy, and I've come around to realize hell yeah, they were cheesy. Cheesy good.
  18. My guess is our poster is surprised regularly by a game of peek-a-boo.
  19. I would guess that our first, next year's first, and one of our thirds would get us there, might even be too much. Is that mortgaging the future too much? Don't know. But plenty of teams have traded away picks to get the right guy for them. If Peterson is that guy (and I think he very well could be) and it's decided that we have the guns we need at DT with McCargo's return, maybe. I'm not so sure about the latter, but there are 2nd and 3rd round talents worth a look there, I'm sure. Also, if we know anything it's that rookie DTs don't often come in and contribute their best immediately. Something to consider if this team thinks it's close to getting over the hump. With issues at LB and CB we do have a good deal to think about. I just don't see our top pick going CB if we've just clearly de-valued the position by deciding what Nate was worth. Another first-rounder who will be gone in 4 years makes little sense. Seeing if Youboty can become the next A Samuel and prove he was a steal in the draft is probably worth the little headaches it will cause. Better to make a value FA pickup IMO. An impact back like Peterson, though... Have to think about that a lot. Some have mentioned that we're not going to lose too many players after 07 so to trade away a pick in 08 wouldn't be the worst thing in the world given that we have an extra third next year as well.
  20. If you post enough mocks, one of them will be right. Really, though, I would not be surprised to see the Bills trade up rather than down, and make a run at Peterson if he falls past the Browns. We have an arsenal of picks now, let's use 'em. We don't really need to collect 10 more rookies this year. We do need a couple of special ones.
  21. Why, the same 'everybody' who thinks we shouldn't re-sign A-Train, of course! I think it's pronounced "Urrrr-boddy" anyway.
  22. Gotta agree with the others, Kelly. You can say the system wasn't right for you, wasn't the right fit, looking forward to the new start, but when you bash the guys who are starting to come on and grow as players like the QB and lead WR, and you're not yourself producing, you're officially a bastard. McGahee has crossed that line. So I'm going to say yes to all aspects of your post and ignore the sarcasm. I generally agree with you and didn't think Willis was necessarily getting a fair shake but this last one was not cool at all. He belongs in B-more with a classless team.
  23. Least: Flutie, Smerlas, and have to say McGahee just joined the list. Most: Thurman, Lofton, Spielman, Lee Evans, Takeo, and I've never wanted a Bill to succeed and do well more than I have JP. Wish I could have seen more of the old guys.
  24. Thanks, Darin, for reminding me about the "I didn't know what down it was" sh--. With these latest comments, Willis can officially kiss my ass. There was not one minute of one game where I thought he was trying harder than Evans or Losman, and to call out the line, the quarterback, and the receivers on this team while going to a team with the Tennessee Titans '99 All-stars at WR and QB is the latest joke in a career of unfulfilled promise. I hope he fails big time, and I now dislike the carpetbagging Ravens even more than I did when they had Deion Sanders. Ray Lewis, Brian Billick, and now Willis can suck it.
  25. Thanks for posting this. Appreciate getting to hear it. I know it's PR but all the same I believe Marv is setting the right direction for the team. So far we're seeing improvement absent pie-in-the-sky promises. I like it. Let's hope we see more in '07.
