  1. Sure, but the "message" in message board should imply communication and exchange, which means the participants sort of have to take a look at what's already being said and decide if it needs to be said again. This place would be no fun if it were all ICE all the time (and it's starting to resemble that, which is what the OP is likely complaining about). I love reading posts that are about football and what people are seeing on the field. It makes it worth coming here to read posts from R. Rich, dave mcbride, Lori of course, and Bill from NYC (despite differences of opinion), to name just a few of many. Posting football opinions, especially those that are well thought out, is just fine. Posting the same "Bills will never win! I'm going to jump the Falls!" missive just seems, well, pointless.
  2. ....Male? ...Between ages 22-85? ...from North America?
  3. I know you're not, it's just a giant pet peeve to see anybody pull out that stat, and my post was the answer as to why it should be retired on this board.
  4. Sean Payton, another guy with a Cowboys background, seems to be able to handle both.
  5. Discounting guys it appears the Bills aren't interested in (Billick) and those who have reportedly turned down the job / interviews: Still in the playoffs: - Leslie Frazier+Saunders as OC - Jason Garrett - Ron Rivera (waiting until Chargers are out of playoffs to interview, has not flat-out turned down Bills) - Russ Grimm Other pro possbilities: - Todd Bowles, Dolphins secondary/assistant head coach - Mike Nolan (yuck) College: - Jim Harbaugh (Stanford) - Chris Petersen (Boise St) - Mike Leach (he said, laughing)
  6. You can't ever have enough DBs. It's hard to win in the NFL without them. Sincerely, Dick Jauron
  7. I might add that it would appear to speak volumes of the guy's reputation that Jauron lost out to Fewell on this job. (Both interviewed for it according to reports.) Maybe Jauron didn't want it; he is getting checks from OBD for the next couple seasons for doing jack, after all. Still...
  8. I like this news as it means they aren't "settling" for Frazier and are still actively searching, despite the setbacks. With basically a decade of offensive woes to their credit, the Bills need to make an offensive splash. They've had a run game at times, but they haven't put it all together on offense since the brief glimmer of Gilbride's gimmicks. I will say that if Frazier comes with Saunders I could warm up to the idea, too. They should really go after Garrett, if JJ will let him talk. Garrett does get the benefit of JJ's blank checkbook. However, if the Bills are in fact prepared to spend, everybody works under the same salary cap (presuming the CBA stays -- admittedly a BIG "if"). The money and opportunity to mold this roster is available, and Nix should be a good partner in identifying cheap young talent if his record is to be trusted. There is no question that Garrett is a good architect of offense, given that Wade is a defensive guy to the core. He's done it with a combination of unheralded and "name" talent. Get on the phone, Buddy/Ralph/Russ/whomever is calling the shots. PS - say no to Billick. His demonstrated lack of acumen in identifying NFL QBs is a huge minus.
  9. I'm neutral on Fewell, but I wonder if he has an out if Buffalo decides to make him an offer for the HC position. It happens rarely, but sometimes guys do land a job only to turn around and take a higher-profile position elsewhere. It'd be awkward, though, and I'd rather upgrade from the legacy of Jauron if at all possible.
  10. Convert him to CB, and you've got a deal... unless Jauron lands another HC gig, in which case, look out... we've got competition!
  11. Russ could accentuate the positives (some of these are jokes, some are not): Clean slate with a QB of your choice. Rebuilt interior line with promising youngsters, doesn't look so bad when guys are healthy. LT is a need; we've got nothing here (sorry for not drafting Oher or Clady) TE Shawn Nelson is a keeper, Schouman shows promise. Maybe you don't need a defense? If you install the "extra huddle" offense, we can run enough time off the clock to keep the defense fresh and ready for overpursuit! Plus, they get INTs! The Marlins won two championships, in front of no one! The Weather is just as bad in Cleveland and NE, and Holmgren and Belicheck went there, respectively.
  12. More like Kenny G taking Little Steven's place...
  13. Despite his best efforts...
  14. "Wins as a starter as stat" = FAIL. Check out these hot "wins as a starting QB" stats: A) 7-18 B) 24-15 C) 10-18 D) 18-14 A is Troy Aikman's first two seasons. He started out 0-11. B is Wade Wilson's "wins" through 1989. C is Jim Kelly's first two seasons. He started out 4-12. D is Jim Everett's first three seasons of starts. You see where I'm going with this, and we've been over this a billion times on this board. Are B and D predictors or indicators of higher levels of skill and talent at QB? Only someone who's never watched a game of football would think so (and I'm sure you'd agree). The "Wins as starter" stat ignores the team around the player and suggests too much credit for what the QB does, 99% of the time. I don't think much of any of the QBs on the roster at this point though I'm intrigued by Brohm's potential. Still, this is a BS stat that proves zilch. Most of the QB stats on this roster point to a conspiracy of bad QBing, horrible system(s), and lack of talent around the QB onfield and on the sidelines.
  15. Have you heard that he's terrible?
  16. Good heavens, no. Forget being "burned by Brian Schottenheimer" or any of these other pieced-together injustices. If the Bills hire Edwards, a coach who turns into Mr. Magoo on gameday, that will actually be embarrassing for the franchise.
  17. San diego, sure, but Houston? I'm sure living in a refinery inside a greenhouse is awesome, but Buffalo has a little more to offer than the sprawling cesspool by the gulf. And I say this with no respect at all for Houston (except regarding the Oilers).
  18. Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
  19. YA YOUR RIGHT THANKS FOR THE NEW THREAD.
  20. Depends. Does anyone know if the Chiefs have put in a big order at B&H Photo Video lately?
  21. Interesting - thanks for posting this! As someone else mentioned, it'd be great to get a distinction between RFAs and UFAs on the list, both with and without an amended CBA.
  22. Good thing the season draft offseason starts tomorrow.
  23. Putting aside the fact that there is just nothing new here, let's address the points. You can with some validity critique the way the Nix hire was made. Many have. It doesn't mean he'll be a bad candidate. And as recently as a year ago he would have been coming from outside the organization. Though this is just hypothetical and not at all realistic, If they had somehow lured Smith or Polian back, would that have been problematic just because Ralph would have only made the hire based on who he knew? Honestly, Nix was probably a best-case-scenario given that Ralph is the man. Rumors are just that. If they're propagated by the likes of Mortensen they're probably kernels of truth coated in a thick paste of garbage. By around 2006 or so Donahoe's performance was easily in question. I think Ralph's football judgment is bollocks, but put that aside for a second. If you were the man paying for Mike Williams, Greg Williams, Bledsoe instead of a #1 draft pick, McGahee with a perfectly serviceable RB already on the roster, wouldn't you be giving the man responsible for these decisions an earful? These are just a few notable examples of Donahoe's many poor decisions. I think the bigger problem is a question of who is overruling whom in the room. It's clear Jauron made a few of the worst decisions. It's also clear that Ralph made them take Dwayne Wright. It's also been suggested that Modrak had a few superior choices nixed (no pun intended), and that Guy has had to cheap out on some moves he'd like to make. Some of these things are unsubstantiated and we'll have to see what Buddy does. I have some faith in his track record. I don't like Guy at all but if Nix does in fact have control over football ops, I think he can strengthen the team's position whether or not Guy is involved. Again, you might be right, but what of now? Furthermore, why make the classless move of an implied wish of death on anybody? I mantain that if anyone really feels this way, the best remedy is to become a more casual fan and not post the same thing ad nauseum to an audience of people who do care.
