  1. I hope you're right, but I wholeheartedly disagree, and I don't think there was a large enough sample size for either side to claim much about Butler as an OT in the NFL.
  2. Both throwbacks are great. The 80s-90s unis are fine; never loved or hate them, they just...were. The current home Navy blues are ok but not great. The away Arena Football League-does-pajamas unis are awful. I'd prefer OBD tackle the onfield product right now, though.
  3. Dude, I have never wanted to believe anything more in my life with regard to the Bills than that Eric Wood will come back and be a monster, preferably AT center. I am just going to go "la la la la la" anytime anyone mentions how catastrophic that injury was, until I see this guy on the field. Denial is our friend here.
  4. Link just in case people are wondering if it's legit
  5. Gotcha. I agree on all points mentioned.
  6. I wrestled with it. I think of it as a hole if there's really no one there who has played the position capably, ever. Believe me when I say that I think our QBs are a collection of s---bags, and that our hopes are pretty much for the light to come on for Brohm, McNabb, or some other miracle. If Chan thinks he can resurrect Edwards, god bless 'im, but I'm not holding out hope.
  7. Sources tell me that Jay Clocker is a can't miss...
  8. This isn't a personal shot, but could we retire these kinds of references?
  9. I don't have tape of it but I thought he fared very well against NE, and that his absence as the one veteran with many games under his belt cost the line dearly.
  10. This is not good news. This really increases my hopes that Schobel is not retiring. The Bills cannot afford any more holes to fill on the roster, especially in starting roles. There are now officially holes at LT RT WR 1B (TO) WR slot (Reed FA) NT with giant question marks at RG (will Wood come back?) LDE RDE QB 2 of 4 LB positions It's really hitting home how much of a disaster the Levy / Jauron / Inner Circle years were. They left us with decent STs, a good secondary, and a few parts on the OL.
  11. It was because Flutie played such awesome defense. He just won, on his own. Ask him and he will tell you this.
  12. For real? The same Jauron that rode the crumbling A-Train to another of his vintage 7-9 campaigns with Fred Jackson on the bench? The same Jauron that lucked into unearthing Jabari Greer after exhausting all other available options? The same Jauron that let Aaron Maybin take so many snaps in 2009? Jauron had "his guys" and that was his personnel approach, new and old (and usually old, never-was guys). I fail to see how he ever deliberately threw anyone into the fire. You might argue that he did this with Bell, but I think it's far more likely that the decision to jettison Walker and start Bell was the product of many idiots arguing with one another whether to boil the water for 60 minutes or for an hour.
  13. That's fine, but since it's Okung we're talking about here, I see no QB in this draft that gives me as much confidence as Okung does at his position.
  14. If you put an opinion out there, expect it to be dissected as an opinion and for others to voice theirs. It's quite possible that this guy from the Evening Hamburglar knows what he's talking about. It's far more likely that Buddy Nix has forgotten more about football than this columnist has ever learned.
  15. The Sports columnist from the Gowanda Penny Saver also thinks the Bills don't know what they're doing. I'll try and find a link.
  16. Simple question: Do you think a Bills QB will stay upright and be able to develop before the team and the fans give up on him, if Demetrius Bell is his #1 LT, and the backups are even worse?
  17. Don't you think that a serviceable QB can be found via FA, and that the Bills could groom a guy like Pike or LeFevour?
  18. They've got to hit throughout the two days, and if they don't have OT, NT, QB and LB addressed through the draft they had damn well better have done it in FA. If they can have the success they had in 2009 in rounds 2 (really, 1B) thru 7, while making sure the first pick is an impact player, they should be in good shape. Obviously they should not be worrying too much about the secondary.
  19. Trading and surrendering picks is almost never a good idea unless you are 100% sold that the guy is a once-in-a-generation star. Teams have ended up "on the winning end" of a trade in which they surrendered picks, of course. But really, it's like giving up lottery tickets that each have a 50/50 chance of winning you some money. I don't think Clausen has helped lead his team to enough victories and I am a bit concerned that he's shown as much as he can in a pro system with Weis coaching. The defenses he'll face in the NFL are going to be a lot better than those that left Golden Tate wide open. They'll be just as good at blanketing Evans and co as they have been in past years, and they're going to challenge Clausen to make the throws and not make mistakes -- and not get killed if he's in Buffalo playing behind a rebuilding line. I'd trade up for Roethlisberger, or Peyton, or any guy who is really a can't-miss talent. There are simply too many questions on Clausen to give up more picks that could be used on Front 7 or OL.
  20. That's the right idea. Honestly, I like Bradford, but I hate the idea of watching him get snapped in half behind a line that can't protect him because the Bills once again neglected to address the OL. Unless you're Kurt Warner or Favre, and we're talking historically tough dudes at the position, there is only so much abuse you can take and still lead a team to success.
  21. Can you point me to the guys on that list that played on a bad line? Or even an average line? BTW Roethlisberger in his first go-around was absolutely brought about slowly and given high-percentage opportunities before growing into the guy you know today. And he's hardly ever had a bad run game (or bad run- or pass-blocking, until these past few seasons). Peyton Manning played behind a line that couldn't do the job for him on Super Bowl Sunday. That said, the 2009 Indy line was basically an all-time anniversary selection lineup compared to the historically bad Bills line. If the Bills trot out D. Bell at LT and don't find more quality OL depth, even if they draft Bradford / Montana or clone a Manning, they will suck. This is indisputible. I'm not saying this means they need a R1 LT or a top FA at the position, but they need an upgrade badly. You can, of course find gems in R2/R3 (Loadholt, for example). However they choose to do it, the Bills have to locate OL talent, even if it's at the expense of drafting a QB. You can find a caretaker QB that will perform adequately with protection. In a year where no clearly elite QB seems to be available, and in which we are unlikely to put a young talent in a position to succeed, the OL upgrade should take precedence.
  22. Could we get a thread title change on this one to indicate that it's a suggestion / question that he could be moved there?
  23. I know it goes into the trade for __________ category, but I think "anything with the word 'Vick' in it" deserves its own special category.
