AT 5-2 Haley and Cassel Are a Mess
RuntheDamnBall replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you think if the Bills threw money at the problem they'd be winning? The Redskins have been doing just that for years and it hasn't brought them anywhere close to the promised land. They are 4-4 this year and maybe they've found the right combination but who's to say. Meanwhile, a team a lot of people think is "doing it the right way" is the Rams. They didn't go bet the farm on expensive coaching talent. They just found guys that they think are the right ones. And they were in a bad enough position to draft a good enough QB. It still might not yet work out for them. BTW the Bills broke the bank for top managerial talent from Pittsburgh a few years back, giving him unprecedented control. How'd that work out? They gave Shanahan a big dog-and-pony show. If these big-money guys don't want to come here, and for the right reasons, why should we as fans want them here? The problem for the Bills is years of ineptitude, years of bad decisions, some good decisions that backfired due to injuries, and in general a lack of emphasis on football decisions from the front office. The only way we'll see that change at this point is if Nix, Whaley and Gailey succeed. No white knight is riding in here to fix this thing for any amount of money. We'd best hope that the guys there right now are the right ones. -
Fitz is from Arizona. It isn't exactly southern but it stands to reason he'd have more of a Western twang than a New England accent. He spent all of four years there. Edit: Big Cat, you beat me to it.

Which College QBs Are You Tracking?

Kellen Moore. Junior, but why not? -
Losing always sucks, losing is for losers, and Bills fans who want the Bills to lose suck at life, or at least at being fans. Tell the Lions that getting top draft picks every year is the surefire path to success.

I finally get it dudes. His name kind of looks like the word 'maybe,' which is hilarious because 'maybe' he'll produce! Its like 'Loseman," but even funnier! Now that we've figured out the secret to endless humor, let's use it a little more sparingly to preserve the comic timing, no?

That'll make you feel better about rooting for a different football team, I'm sure. -

Is it just me or is Spiller a little scared of some contact? He just needs to GO some times; he's JUST hesitating to go inside when if he just trusted his own speed a little more he might have 30 yards. He might just get 4, but he's just too potentially elusive to waste opportunities like that. -

Shoulda been 31-10 after a pick-six. D and Spiller combined on a lot of momentum shift. -

Darryl Talley says that the other DB blew coverage and it wasn't Whitner's man. I guess I'm inclined to believe Talley, but to me it says it all that #20 considers himself a leader of the defense. -

I've been among his defenders before, but not anymore. This is worse than the Maybin pick right now, if only because Maybin isn't out there costing them anything and has the slimmest possibility of turning it around. Whitner out there, when responsible for the TE, equals a guaranteed touchdown. His LOL shoulder "tackles," celebrations after doing jack sh--, and horrible tackling skills are costing this team. -

Yes and no. No fumble there by Spiller, no touchdown. The OPI non-call and the ruling on the INT are horsesh-- calls though. -

This is some of the worst safety play I have ever seen. -

Whitner is having a drive full of plays that make you question why he's starting, and this after that TD. Yuck. Nice #8 pick, Marv. -
Codero Howard to Start At Right Tackle...
RuntheDamnBall replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was he or was he not a Right Tackle? Did the poster I responded to not say "who does this?" and inquire why a team would do this? I know Mike Williams was highly touted. I went and covered that Bills draft for a local paper. There wasn't a person in the media room who thought the Bills were making a really bad decision (though it was a point of debate regarding McKinnie vs. Williams). Another primary point here is that you can't just count on a position switch based on projections (protected a lefty's blind side, ergo he must be able to do the same from the other side). And for as fat and lazy as people call Peters (the guy who actually could play LT), Mike was on another level when it came right down to it. You would (and should) only ever draft a RT at No.9 or at No.5 if you thought he was going to be an All Pro year-in year-out. -
RRM is probably underrated by definition. Good choice. I'll third Mr. Oldham. I was going to mention him before but didn't, thinking that he does get his critical due. He is really putting himself up there with Cohen and Haggard and Jennings as a folk/country songwriter, though, and he does a whole lot more than that. The Superwolf tour with Sweeney in tow at Bowery Ballroom is right up there with the best shows I've ever seen.

What a loser, even if he plays for a winner. -
What GM / Coach tandem would you look to hire?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you're looking at replacing the guys who are there, right now or even at the end of the season, you're talking about etching an even deeper impression of instability at the top of this organization. With that said, I think the options would be VERY unfavorable. Whom I'd hire, and whom I would BE ABLE to hire would be two different things. We saw many great options available this year and many of them appeared to not even give the Bills the time of day. Maybe this could change with a yachtload of money and a share of the franchise dangled, but then you're likely getting someone who's coming for not all the right reasons. Things suck right now, but I think the team's best bet is to see what improvements this group can make over the season, and reloading come draft and FA (presuming there's even football next year). If I really, truly had my choice of anyone, even people employed with another team right now, I'd probably offer all of the above and more to Ron Wolf, keep Kevin Whaley onboard to groom as GM-in-waiting, and acquiesce to whatever coaching choice they made. I'd also hire double the scouts and try to lure more of them from the best of my competitors. -
Two of 'em right here. I'm going to throw in, just from the "C" section of my library: Bill Callahan/Smog, Centro-matic, and Califone. Nice list! I don't listen to much of the first three though I do appreciate Dr. John; the rest are awesome. And if you like Oneida you should check out People of the North - side project that's total heavy stoner psych.

Don't look at the Bills' 2002 draft. You might cry. -

Does that mean "cutting Cornell Green"? Because I'm on board with that. -

Get a load of the Chargers. They start an undrafted free agent at Tight End! What a scrub! These guys also suck: Warren Moon Kent Hull Nate Newton Kurt Warner Wes Welker Lou Groza Joe Jacoby Jeff Saturday Sam Mills Bart Scott Antonio Pierce Night Trane Lane Donnie Shell Jessie Tuggle Pat Williams Drew Pearson -
I was sharing my jealousy over the phone with my brother last night that Manning has Dallas Clark, and can hit him in stride up the middle leading to 25 yard gains. Certainly one of the best ever, but he has some nice players, and continuity with guys like Clark, Saturday and Harrison then Wayne has been big for him.

You really think Heaven's team has a guy who possesses not one, but two portraits of himself as a centaur?

It makes no sense at all for Philly to trade Kolb when they view themselves as contenders. Would the Bills have traded Frank Reich during the Super Bowl years?
