  1. A sarcasm detector... that's a "brilliant" idea.
  2. Even if they intend to run the story, no way, no how are they doing so without verifying sources, fact-checking and understanding the ramifications of printing them. I'll give Moran this: he is definitely putting himself out there if this happens to be false; without suggesting anyone run over his kid, it either means he's trusting someone he shouldn't, he's ignorant of how open he's leaving himself, or he is telling the truth.
  3. Where did the article say "confiscated"? Regardless... yes, it's been three weeks, but three weeks for a star like Merriman, who has already had a prior offense with the league, seems like a long time to hold the story, and plenty of time for it to be verified.
  4. Dude, we're not the ones billing ourselves as reporters. If he is using misleading language, that's bad journalism. Plain and simple.
  5. But there absolutely has to be some kind of report originating from border patrol / immigration for Goodell to take any action. There is no way that Goodell, powerful though he may be, could suspend Merriman based on suspicion and the Moran report alone.
  6. Again, getting "caught" implies there were consequences for getting caught. There have, at least until now, been none, and the only way there POSSIBLY could be any is if the NFL follows up on these "reports" and finds something. I don't think Moran is making it up; I do think it's entirely possible he is trusting sources too eagerly (and in a not-journalistic fashion) in order to pump up his fan website and to possibly increase his own credibility in the event that this is found to be true. The guy is not proving himself to be a journalist. Most journalists I work with work a hell of a lot harder, and try to make that work evident in the final deliverable to the public.
  7. He was 'busted,' not caught or arrested.
  8. I am calling BS less for the reliance on anonymous sources than that someone like Wawrow or an ESPN / NFL source is likely to have heard of this 2+ weeks old event before now.
  9. Didn't we want merriman back on the steroids?
  10. Sweet. This is all the rationale they need to trade lee evans. Maybe buster Douglas is available.
  11. Move along, nothing to see here. The OP has an agenda, let him have it. I think this defense will look good against most offenses. We'll get our test soon enough against NE.
  12. No doubt, Bill, but his insults to fans genuinely excited about the Merriman signing, or even those who thought it was a good low-risk, high-reward move, wore pretty thin on me.
  13. There's been remarkably little WEO around these parts the past couple days... coincidence?
  14. He could probably afford to buy the Bills and keep them in Buffalo!
  15. Unless you're really sure they need a more veteran presence on the OL, I'm not sure what adding a guy at the end of his career does for them (presuming he really only has 1-2 years left). I think they really want this unit to grow together. If Urbik doesn't at least show some flashes next week, I might get a little more concerned, but for now I'd hold my fire. Also, Hangartner has played some guard in his time and could step in while Urbik learns the craft, so to speak, and I wouldn't hate the idea. I know we want upgrades for now, but if the moves don't help in the long-term picture of the team it could actually set them back.
  16. Agreed. It's how we got Merriman, it's how we got Lawyer Milloy back in the day. I don't mind at all bringing in a few guys with talent who think they have something to prove. It gets a little tougher bringing these guys in post-camp and getting them acclimated to the system, but it would probably be worth it to scour for offensive linemen and even safeties.
  17. Without really feeding the troll here, I think we've got to remember that things did not look all that good in preseason last year, and that Trent was the winner of the job via his performance. All that says is that you don't really learn everything in preseason (though the offense did look pretty sleepy by virtue of the QB switch and attendant growing pains). Take that statement and bold it, underline it, and capitalize it for this truncated, screwed-up offseason. I hate to say it but I do really think the Bills are going to be more hurt than most by the lack of OTAs, minicamps and 2 extra weeks of camp/preseason. They are so young and just really getting into the finer details in year 2 of Gailey's system. I have hope as one always does in August / September, but realistically, next year looks more promising. This year for me is about the emergence of the defense and especially Dareus and Merriman (hoping for comeback player of the year). "that kind of money" is exactly what Walker and Dockery got. You're talking a lot more guaranteed money and possibly another mil or two per. I don't think Ralph's doing that, and I still don't know if I would leave a really good shot at a Super Bowl-ready team if I'm Clabo.
  18. thanks, dude. It's nice to see the work of good fans go into some actual analysis.
  19. NICE WORK! Not to get greedy, but if I may be greedy, if you have time to post the situation for each down - 3rd and 8, etc... that would be awesomely helpful.
  20. I've read everywhere his nickname was Godzilla.
  21. More marauders with Viking blood, please. Down with haircuts.
