  1. Manning was released and is already a free agent. Williams isn't a FA until after 4pm. Try again.
  2. Stop making sense. Memes and media narratives-generated are worth touchdowns in the NFL.
  3. They certainly were. I would like to have seen that game with everyone at full speed. I would still have hoped the Giants beat the stinking Pats, but it would have been even more impressive.
  4. Agreed. How many certifiable stars does New England have? You can argue that they have one at the most important position, and I'll give you that, but what they've really done well is try to eliminate any holes they can. A few more "good" players at WR and/or CB might have saved them in this past Super Bowl; and look at Mario Manningham for another example of a good, not great, player that contributed to a strong supporting cast for the Giants' title run. Though it's hard to argue with this. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think you take improvement wherever you can get it, even if it's marginal. The one caveat is that if the guy being replaced provides some intangibles with visible results.
  5. Right. I'm certainly not arguing that you do. Nor am I arguing that Clark in 2012 really improves the Bills a ton (much as I would love for him to). You seemed to be implying that having an awesome 2 TE set wasn't helpful enough because NE didn't win it all. I for one think if Gronk had been healthy in that game it would have been hard for the Giants to emerge victorious.
  6. Glad i can help. The notion that a QB has a record of his own is as stupid as you think my joke is old. Sanchez is inconsistent enough and lazy enough to have divided his locker room. He helped a team with super bowl aspirations tank and miss the postseason. "his" record against the Bills is irrelevant, and there is no doubt in my mind that a healthy fitzpatrick would have QB'd that same team to the playoffs.
  7. Ergo, gronkowski (who was hurt) or Hernandez are somehow less valuable? Break this one down for me, because I'm smelling a logic fail.
  8. Are you asking us to do it for you because you're failing at it?
  9. Gets in the end zone and gets open. If we get another receiver weapon, I think we can be happy with what we have at TE. I'm still intrigued by Lee Smith. If the right upgrade is there in the draft or on a reasonably-priced FA, go for it. But the really impressive catching TEs seem to be finds in the draft - not big name FAs on the open market. Chandler is a reliable target who will win us a few games if he stays healthy. If you follow baseball you know the Yankees have been managing payroll religiously to avoid a really severe luxury tax that was implemented this year.
  10. Arizona does seem reasonable, good call. Broncos seems like a bad idea, and I can't imagine Payton wanting to go play in the elements after a career spent in a dome. Seattle's a dark-horse. For same reasons as Jets, I think it less likely - too strong a personality in the HC seat.
  11. My brother has jumped fully on the Robinson bandwagon. Having not seen much of Robinson, whom would you choose, Garcon or Robinson (factoring in what each will get paid)?
  12. If I were Manning, I'd be looking long and hard at San Francisco. New league, new challenges, relatively easy division, great defense, a team on the upswing. If they are willing to give Alex Smith the boot that would be a chance worth taking for Peyton. Miami is an organization fraught with issues; I'm not saying they outweigh the advantages for a guy like Manning, who could step in and kind of have his way with the team, but I imagine the hubris involved there might sink both parties. Same with the Jets (and I can't see Manning working with Sparano). If I were to rank best places for him to go that seem possible (regardless of incumbent): 1) SF 2) Houston 3) Jets 4) Miami
  13. 1) 36 is old in football years 2) coming off a a major, major injury 3) Buffalo cannot be first on his list = we'd have to sweeten the pot severely. Since Payton probably has no real need for more money, we're talking ownership stake. 4) Upsetting team chemistry 5) Though Fitz can be cut with relatively little expenditure, it's still dead money tied up in QBs when your new first-stringer carries many risks.
  14. Right. Ideally, we can get an experienced A.J. Green / Calvin Johnson type who comes cheap.
  15. I can't vouch for these partiuclar outlets, but a friend of mine works for a law firm that gets calls from major media outlets all the time regarding their cases. She has said it's astounding how few of them actually do anything that could be considered fact-checking - this goes for CNN, the NY Times, Fox, etc etc.
  16. If you entirely removed passion from the equation, sure, why not? But Brees means a lot more to New Orleans than simply what he brings to the field. He is symbolic of their turnaround, he chose New Orleans when the city was at a relative low, and he brought them a title. It's not easy to just ditch the face of a franchise like that, even when a Hall of Famer with hometown connections is available.
  17. Please, please let the Dolphins **** this up.
  18. It must suck to be a Colts fan, to have such a jerk as your QB, and to have seen him win a Super Bowl for you.
  19. Love the name, worried about the single good season in the Big 10 and big games against cupcakes. Talk me off the ledge, Astro.
  20. If this was part of the plan in getting Evans off the books early and not spending big in 2011, I might say the Bills look smart. Let's see how wisely, and how much, they spend in 2012.
  21. If that's directed at me, you're barking up the wrong tree. I am fully aware that if Donte had a better cast surrounding him, he'd have looked better in Buffalo. He was asked to do a lot, including things he had no business doing. That said, the power of his mouth exceeds his talent, and he is not anywhere near in the company of an Ed Reed or a Polamalu, guys who merited top ten position. He was not the worst in Buffalo and he is certainly not the best now that he is surrounded by better talent. He is middle of the pack, he's a hard tackler, and can alternate between great stops and getting faked out of his jock. He is producing just fine for SF, a team that paid him less than the Bills were offering. I thought people overreacted to his every move based on his draft position, but now that he's gone, if he's got nothing good to say about the team that gave him a chance (and really improved money since he was possibly a second rounder), he's the enemy.
  22. Tank nation. Who knows, though. The Eagles can protect well enough, so maybe the Capt. can Checkdown to guys who will go further than 3 yards.
  23. So, you're saying, if he were on a franchise that drafted high-talent defensive linemen with their first picks instead of squandering them on reach safeties, he'd be better?!
  24. I would take Finley at that salary. He's a beast. Just needs to stay healthy.
