  1. I think you meant zero instead of two.
  2. Bringing in Russell would make the T.O. pickup look about 50x less cynical and desperate.
  3. Don't bother with Geno haters. They have absolutely nothing in the way of evidence to support their case. They just "know" in their heart of hearts he will suck.
  4. Yeah, that looks really good to future prospective employers.
  5. Gimme a break. Succeed here and you are loved. Period. Whitner didn't seem to sense that this was the sinking ship that he now KNOWS it was when he was guaranteeing playoffs in 2008, and he was not winning fans by complaining about his contract negotiations in-season. And as much as I think it's stupid to get all upset about a player's Twitter usage, Whitner seemed to let fans being dumb on it get to him. You've gotta be above it. I think I could take the crap if I were making millions and especially if I were inviting it with proclamations. And you can always opt-out of Twitter or use it more privately if you want to with friends. The crazy thing is that his play didn't really invite the criticism too much. It was middle-of-the-road, up and down. It's all the extracurricular crap, getting arrested outside a nightclub, the guarantees, etc etc that made him a target. Add that up with the draft slot and it becomes a bigger one.
  6. I see your sig includes Manuel in R3 - really think he lasts there given current trends?
  7. Partners in ineptitude, both trying to reclaim glory days of the 80s and early 90s.
  8. The Costanza strategy!
  9. You're right. It's really about the differential between the two players. Whitner is average, Ngata is very good. Maybin is a bit luxury role player on the edge of any NFL roster, and Orakpo is very good. Ngata may be the best player of the group, but it's the striking disparity between Maybin and Orakpo in filling the same role that makes that pick worse.
  10. The Bills gave and offered Whitner more than any other team would have, not once but twice. He is a hanger-on who makes some good plays now and then and is exploited now and then. He is a middle-of-the-road safety in the NFL and he sh--s on Buffalo whenever given the chance, so to him I say good riddance. I hope Flacco to Pitta burns him at least twice, and would bet anyone here it will happen at least once.
  11. I am sarcasm meter may have been a little bit off, Your right.
  12. So the fact that Nix asked him a question tells you that he is the main Scout involved? I can't extrapolate that conclusion from the information provided, and it's foolish to do so. I think the directive is there to draft a QB, no matter what, this time out. They know that the heat is on to select one, and if they don't, there is going to be major hell to pay among the fans unless they somehow get Joe Flacco here. Russ Brandon won't let that sit even if it's the best choice in the end (and I think that's an unlikely scenario). My fear is that they skip out on a better player by getting lost in the turning of the draft wheel, and end up reaching for the wrong QB. This choice is about as critical as it gets. Nassib might be very good, but he has real concerns to allay for me. I think getting it wrong with him will be far more destructive than with any other available QB, unless Nassib comes out and is a star for some other team.
  13. I don't know why we'd pass on Ryan Mallett in Round 3 and draft a sub-par facsimile in Round 1 just a couple of years later.
  14. Yup. Levitre would have gotten that same analysis in his draft year.
  15. That's a lot of INTs against better teams for Glennon. He did fare pretty well against Clemson in a shootout loss (to the unfortunately staying-in-school Tajh Boyd).
  16. What about a Jewish person who has been raised to believe what they believe? What about a Hindu / Sikh / Muslim / Jain / Buddhist you get my point. Are they all too proud to admit that Jesus is their savior, or do they simply come from a different worldview? I am glad to hear that Christianity helped you find the strength to carry on, and even as an agnostic, I have to admit one of my heroes in sports is R.A. Dickey, who exemplifies everything good about his faith without going into the boastful territory that I feel people like Tebow and especially Lewis take it to. His situation is remarkably similar to yours, and his pain perhaps worse, though I don't know yours. I am glad to see people emerge from their lowest moments to become better people, and often faith is part of it. There are other good people out there whose paths are different and I think they can be respected, too. That said, there are many people, even those who believe, whom indeed chance has not been so kind to. I mean, 20 kids just got killed in school last month, and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, as a parent, as a person, as a citizen, as a human, that rationalizes it. To rationalize it with some beyond-earthly reward is to cheapen the pain of others, in my opinion. My M.O. is speak for yourself, share yourself freely, but to claim one understands it all as a part of God's plan -- in football or in life and death -- is to claim to know too much for my tastes.
  17. After all the pain and suffering he has had to endure, and given his humble and gracious nature, of course.
  18. That's fine. The fashion fines should still be lesser than fines for unneccessary roughness with either reckless disregard for, or intent to injure another.
  19. I'd say that any team that was bad enough to possess the #1 pick over the Bills would probably also want Johnny Manziel, and that this team is not bad enough to go the 1-15 or 2-14 to ensure they get that pick.
  20. Look at it this way, guys. If you were Marrone and the front office and you had to make a defining choice like this, would you hitch your wagon to a guy you know simply because you know him? Consider the situation if this doesn't work out. With his college coaches who are total believers in him in charge, is Nassib likely to believe he has to compete and earn the job? If he fails, will Marrone and Hackett pull the plug soon enough? There are all sorts of reasons to beware this draft strategy.
