  1. Yeah....................uh, think about what I might have meant in response to the OP.
  2. Uh, Jim Kelly's entrance to the NFL was about as selfish and immature as they come. The Bills can count themselves lucky that he had time to grow and play in a relatively pressure-free situation before he was reassigned to one of the league's worst teams and franchises. If he had signed in 1983 he might not have survived the situation.
  3. Dude has a point. I mean, when Terry Pegula took over the Sabres, their one true reason for existence became the quest for a Stanley Cup. We see none of that bold thinking in the Bills' leadership. And obviously it produced results.
  4. Did you watch Smith last year against the Saints? This year at all? Lots of QBs have been in good systems without half the results he got this season. Smith is not an All Pro by any means but you can definitely do worse, and he is a smart dude who can be way more accurate than Fitz.
  5. If Kelsay is to be seen as a precedent, Williams will announce his retirement next week.
  6. From the team's statement: I FINALLY get why Kelsay wasn't good enough here. Turns out he was only giving 100% as compared to the customary 110%:
  7. Hope springs eternal. I think he gets his chance in 2017.
  8. Let's play this game! Who would prefer Matt Ryan as their starter: NE - no Jets - yes Miami - yes Bills - oh, God, yes Cle - yes Pit - no (and with the beatings that BR is taking, that's not an easy no) Balt - no Cincy - yes Indy - no Jax - yes Houston - gonna say yes Tenn - yes SD - Rivers has had a nice career but looks on the downside. Yes Den - no, but for how long? KC - I think so, over A. Smith - yes Raiders - yes NYG - no, but would put MR in Eli's class Philly - yes Dal - yes Wash - no Chicago - no, but would put MR in Cutler's class GB - no Vikes - yes Detroit - yes (Stafford can play, but MR more consistent) NO - no TB - yes Carolina - this one is close. Maybe? SF - no Ariz - yes Rams - yes Seattle - no So, I'm pretty certain 18 teams would be better off with Ryan. I am not sure about the Giants, Pitt, Carolina or Chicago, or Denver, long-term. And Kaep, Luck, RGIII and Wilson all look like stars but we need to see more than 16 games from these guys before they really reach the upper echelon. Kaep hasn't even had that many, and RGIII might not survive his coach.
  9. I think you're right. Would definitely put them in the same class. I don't know where Cam Newton fits into this conversation. He's a dynamic player but he hasn't done sh-- yet. I would put Ryan over him in this top 10, no question.
  10. That was kind of my point, yes. Though losing Bowe would change the game for them a bit. Still, I stand by that statement. I look at the Bills and see question marks all over the place. Chiefs fans may feel the same way about their team and there are certainly some glimmers of hope on the Bills, but still...
  11. In hindsight, doesn't it seem like they should have drafted Anquan Boldin or Jason Witten instead of Kelsay?
  12. Well, that, and they had drafted McKelvin as the heir apparent that year. Just another good example of the FO misallocating resources, especially in the draft. I hope they don't make that same mistake this year and lose McKelvin only to draft his replacement.
  13. I'll bite, and say that the real problem is that Kelsay was getting that money while they "couldn't afford" to keep Jabari Greer or any number of other players who went on to greener pastures.
  14. Thanks for this. Was going to add a post but you hit all the important points. In Brooklyn biking has become a ridiculous fad, and I see all sorts of idiots yammering on their cell phones on their fixies, cutting left turns into the other lane, never following any traffic signals even when there is traffic. I hate people who give actual cyclists a bad name. And they usually never wear helmets, which is the dumbest thing I can imagine, especially in urban cycling.
  15. Fresh Prince? Really? Louie should be higher.
  16. Say what you will. Today, if only for one day, Chris Kelsay was able to execute.
  17. That corps might even make Fitzpatrick serviceable. But I still think Ryan is a very good QB and would give my left nut to have him on the Bills.
  18. It's funny that posts from last year and two years ago are only appearing now.
  19. Kelsay was not a great player but he was a classy dude and he goes out as one, too. Compare to Schobel, a much better player, who dragged his wishy-washy retirement considerations into August and hurt the team's ability to make decisions on the defense. I am not dying inside for Chris Kelsay that he didn't get to play in the playoffs - he did in fact win the lottery as WEO put it. But I sure wish he had gotten to play in them. Happy trails, and on to the next one. It's nice that the team gets some cap room and flexibility out of this, even if it does create a "hole." For me, this is Carrington's chance to step up.
  20. You're doing it wrong. Sincerely, Aaron Williams
  21. Not that Tom Brady throws those all the time.
  22. Last time I checked the Patriots win with RAC-monster receivers and RBs in a weak division.
  23. Someday you will be able to post tables here. Until then... MY EYES.
  24. You're right that neither of us know, but I think it's far too soon to assume that he doesn't like any of the QBs in the draft. He could be targeting EJ Manuel in the second. We just don't know. He could also be really happy with what he's seen from Alex Smith and know that he faces little learning curve to pick up an NFL offense, because he's done it before. I just wouldn't look at the fact that Reid went with the opportunity to get a known commodity as a straight-up indictment of this QB class. It looks more to me like hedging bets in an uncertain market and situation. And Reid has done this before with other vets that teams wanted to exchange for his picks.
  25. I'm really hating this narrative, not because I'm a Geno fan (I am) - but because it's obvious Reid wants to win now and not wait on a rookie QB. With the pieces they have, it makes sense. The Bills are in a different place. I want the playoffs as badly as anyone else does, but I also want sustained success. If that means taking a QB they can grow with who is younger and has a higher ceiling, that's fine by me. Reid took what he needed for now, and this hardly shuts the door on their drafting another prospect. BTW I still kind of like McCoy but he is on the smallish side for the NFL. Tebow's throwing motion is well-enough documented. Geno doesn't really have the same marks on him.
