  1. I think he is different from Pacman in that he is WAAAAAAY too stoned to hurt anybody. Agreed. You can't tell a guy to get with the program until there is a program to get with. I don't have any specific examples to cite, but the Ravens struck me as a team where a guy with a few red flags could come in, see the serious dedication they had to the game, and fall in line. The Bills have been anything but that kind of team. And I don't think it necessarily works when the number of guys with issues reaches a critical mass, but the Bengals have made the playoffs more than the Bills. A lot more. Isn't that sad?
  2. Look where that got him. Beware. Where does he plant them? Do they grow with moderate sun?
  3. My head is absolutely spinning.
  4. So the front office kowtowed to a milquetoast head coach, and this same front office is supposed to inspire confidence in their next QB choice? And they are in a conspiracy with their next QB to keep him looking MOR so that he is available at their draft position. Keep firing.
  5. Oh, you know it, brother. I mean, see: Wilson, Russell; Kaepernick, Colin; even Dalton, Andy (Nassib's ceiling IMO -- good luck with that sans AJ Green). If Nix was waiting all this time for Ryan Nassib, God help us.
  6. Aside from that, they're practically identical.
  7. I'm not sure Ralph would appreciate the extra zeroes in the budget for chips, though.
  8. Maybe he should just share with his Bills teammates. It pretty much sounds like a key to success. A blunted Kolb might not let the pressure get to him.
  9. it seems like they could potentially do a real nice job of identifying these kinds of players to exploit other teams' inability to defend them. But then I think of what they've done thus far with Brad Smith and I get discouraged. Hopefully Marrone has some fresh ideas to offer. I am still not sold on his hiring but I do like the idea of a younger guy who knows offense and comes from an OL background. We'll see.
  10. How did you get the photos? And it's only small from hearing that dick-shrivelling song so many times.
  11. ...To the chagrin of music lovers everywhere. "How Deep Is Your Love" makes me want to smash cars.
  12. It's gonna be Kirk Cousins' name on that scoreboard if Shanny has his way. Of course he is a better coach than Gailey, which is like beating a four-year-old at chess. But he's senile and he's going to cost his team longer-term success. My response was to "still coherent," nothing else. The rest you have right IMO.
  13. Highly debatable based on his decision making with regard to Griffin.
  14. Yes but Carr was a consensus #1 pick. So was Tim Couch. I think most people viewed the two as can't-miss picks at the time. When we bandy about the "he's no Luck," or "He's no Griffin" statements, we kind of need to remember that most people aren't that. Both of those QBs got the living crap kicked out of them on the football field, and I don't know how anybody attains success like that. Anyway, Caserly sucks, I do agree on this. If he didn't he would have realized that OL play carried his Redskins teams and needed to be put first and foremost in building the Texans.
  15. There it is. For my money I am going to trust the guys who do the work day-in, day-out, and get paid by teams for their professional opinion instead of a media outlet. Is Casserly going out on a limb? If he's wrong, most will forget it and still think he's smart - because his track record includes having worked with one of the all-time greatest coaches. If he's right, he's one of the guys who saw all the warning signs and has a trusted opinion. I think if you think highly enough of your talent evaluation skills, you get in the ring. Casserly - well, he got fired twice, with good reason. Most GMs do. The rest is just noise.
  16. You know, I try to keep up with this thread, then I find myself uttering "Jesus Christ!" too often. So-and-so wants it more? Pinstripe bowl as an indicator of... much of anything? This is all stuff for those people for whom stats and actual, evaluatable performance and evidence doesn't tell them the story they want to hear. I know we're in the church of "only **** that happened in the last four months matters" and ESPN-derived meaninglessness about character and drive and all that BS, but... Jesus Christ.
  17. Geno, Jordan, could live with Barkley, any of the OTs. Don't like the WRs at 8, Warmack will probably be good but would prefer a trade down to get him or Austin. If no QB with the top pick I could deal with a trade up to get Manuel - losing picks sucks though.
  18. People will hate me for saying this because he had neither an impressive arm nor very good feet, but Chad Pennington is the sort of QB I think of when we think of one who is "good enough to get to the playoffs" but probably not to win it all unless everything lines up correctly. Honestly I would be OK with having a QB like that whether it came in the form of Kolb (I'm skeptical), Barkley (worried about the injury) or otherwise. All depends on how the draft shapes up, but it would be worth a #1 pick to establish credibility, stability and consistency at the position - these are really the things that make a QB a good leader. There are some who are born leaders of course, but most grow into the role and, when they end up keeping it, it's because they perform decently enough without making a ton of mistakes. Long story short, I don't think the guy has to be elite to be worth it in the first round. But he should be consistently above average, which to me is maybe the difference between Nassib and Barkley. The difference between Smith & Manuel and Nassib is that I view the former two to have elite potential.
  19. I don't think the Titanic's inability to turn around was its flaw. You could say, "I'm hoping that Coach Marrone has a big dinghy to rescue everyone from this sinking ship." If you're going to hold onto the Titanic metaphor and all.
  20. I would put Wilson in that mix.
