  1. There is still some great history there, but you're spot on here.
  2. You're talking about the competition for second string behind Tuel, right?
  3. Someone is going to be born in a European bathroom?
  4. Pete Prisco sounds like a real Tuel. I prefer Herm Edwards for his real football knowledge, though he is obviously a few wins short of the correct prediction, which is PLAYOFFS!!!!1
  5. Hey, remember before the last decade, when New England was not one of those 8-10 teams? Look up when the last Colts title was before their most recent one. The Ravens-Browns franchise before 2000? The storied franchises (Dallas, SF, Pitts, NYG, to a lesser extent these days the Skins, Miami, Raiders) have more appearances and titles than most. But the fact that those last three teams I mentioned haven't sniffed the Super Bowl in over 10 years - with Gruden's one Raiders appearance the only one for those three in the past 20 -- should be enough to prove my point. The NFL is generally cyclical and greatness is tied to a QB. The Bills have new hopes with their latest QB prospect, so let's not act like the future holds no promise.
  6. if the "opinion" expressed by the OP is outside of the bounds of most logical observers on the board, and meant to rile people up, then, yes. Let's waste our time recapping: 1) the Bills spent heavy resources (#1 pick, guaranteed salary / bonus) on EJ Manuel 2) the Bills spent precious few resources (non-guaranteed salary, UDFA signing) on Jeff Tuel 3) EJ Manuel has been spending most of his time facing the first stringers and getting first string reps with the offense 4) Jeff Tuel has not. 5) EJ Manuel faced the first and second stringers in their one and only preseason game thus far 6) Jeff Tuel faced the third and fourth stringers in their one and only preseason game thus far. 7) Both QBs looked very good in different ways. EJ Manuel looked good running the offense in a high pressure situation against players that are more likely to be at the level of those he would face in a regular season game. Jeff Tuel beat the pants off of players who will probably not see much game action outside of ST. 8) We can be happy that both players played reasonably well. 9) We do not have the kinds of access to the players and their performances that the coaches do. 10) The coaches have not decided that Tuel's performance merits a shot at the starting position. To believe otherwise on any of this stuff is trolling.
  7. I'm really impressed not just with how good their beers are, but that they seem to be doing a pretty good job of getting regional and semi-national reach. We have all their beers here in Brooklyn. It is so nice to see a WNY product finding success. Their Hop Sun is one of my favorite summer beers, too. Everything they do is pretty well-balanced, which is something I cannot say of Magic Hat - they seem to have one dominant flavor and then a really thin finish.
  8. Oh yes, he'll only become one of the better QBs of all time, not one of the greatest and most gifted.
  9. Go to your own backyard and Southern Tier Brewing Co's Pumking. It's awesome.
  10. I fully expect a post about how Tuel has "it" or "that 'it factor," the last refuge of people who either have no evidence or are too easy to search for it.
  11. Do they get a better draft grade if they are selling luxury cars?
  12. As SJBF has said, ending up at 14-25 would put us in perfect position for a guard or top TE. It's that luxury spot that the Steelers and NE usually end up in, somehow.
  13. So, throw in Tuel against the first stringers next week. I guarantee you the results would not reveal him to be the better QB. The coaches who have seen him in the film room and in practice after having months to evaluate all of the draft eligible QBs probably know this too, and hence have probably decided it would be a waste of time better spent on developing the guy actually competing for the starting position. You only have so many reps and they are valuable. You do not throw them to guys who do not have a chance. We should be pleased that Tuel is showing enough so far to make this roster, and let this play out.
  14. Leach's QBs haven't exactly had superstar NFL careers. The only way Tuel is their "biggest steal" is if he somehow makes #2, somehow gets in some game action and looks great, and gets traded for a 2nd rounder. It's nice to have a quality backup QB but this myth-making after a half against 3rd stringers is insane. I am very intrigued by the guy and if he turns out to be anything more than a nice backup, it will be a load of icing on the cake. I am sure that the Bills hope that he never sees a bit of game action unless it's in garbage time with a 47-10 lead.
  15. You made me go look up Nehemiah. I see he was one of those guys really screwed by the politics of the time and the boycotts. That always seemed sad to me given that the Olympics should be a time to put aside the disagreements and come together to play. These athletes have a short window of greatness that they can never climb their way back into. And that is cool about Lofton. I was always happy that he ended up a Bill.
  16. I think there is a difference between a "track star" player, which just means he's fast, and an actual Olympic athlete, which means he has world-class preparation in addition to his speed. It's pretty cool that Goodwin is the latter, and that he's now focused on football 100%.
  17. Landry Jones, whose first play went for a safety? Yeah, wish we had that guy.
  18. Herm Edwards is... a person who has been in the NFL.
  19. What Vick did was sometimes play to his talent level, which coming out of college was out of this world. For much of the rest of the time he coasted on the basis of this talent, believing it was enough to take him far, that he could "turn it on." He admitted as much. On a pure talent level, there was no question that he was the best QB in that draft. His head was always the issue.
