Please don't condescend. You can execute the defense in high-speed, full-pads practices, and you can go back and discuss directly with the coach what you are doing correctly and incorrectly. As a fifth year veteran I am pretty sure that Byrd will be able to handle all of this, and the fact is that what his opponents are doing is less likely to have changed, so studying them and game-planning them is going to be his priority. As Kelly says, the FS is not the most complicated position on the D. Now, if you want to drum up a quote from Pettine showing me that the FS is calling the plays, I'm all years. Link, please.

That's not at all like having to pay for an external device like a box and a satellite dish, which some urban customers aren't even allowed to have installed. Not to mention that a one-time purchase of a $35 USB dongle, or Apple TV, or whatever you like can more readily accommodate a rapidly shifting media landscape than can lock-in with a proprietary box. -
I don't think anybody's saying that, but I think the assignments for an LB/S hybrid and a rush LB are going to be a bit more complex than those of the safety. That said, I'm glad he's here now vs. two weeks from now. One presumes he'll get some game experience over those two weeks' time, though, and I can't imagine he has not been in contact with his teammates at all. I think he'll be fine.

This is about how I felt. No hard feelings for the guy - he was a solid if unspectacular contributor and the letter is a really nice gesture and measure of the man. But you need an edge and if Hopkins can provide that by extending the team's FG range, they have to take it.

Yeah. Do yourself a favor and check out 99% Invisible, also. It rules. Nothing to do with sports but really well made.

Have you checked out Slate's Hang Up and Listen? Nice sports podcast with Stefan Fatsis (who wrote a book about trying out for the Broncos in camp as a kicker), NPR's Mike Pesca and another dude hosting, who is pretty entertaining. They also feature this classic sportswriting vault segment with a guy from Deadspin. Latest episode had an interview with the director of United States of Football. Pretty much everything is fair game and it isn't as buttoned up as some of the NPR stuff has to be.

Worst SuperBowl Winning team
RuntheDamnBall replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I might say the Redskins team that beat the Bills. Mark Rypien was nothing more than an average QB... but that team was well-coached and prepared. What about worst Super Bowl losing team? The1994-95 Chargers have got to be up there. -
Poll: Should the "Redskins" name be changed?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in Off the Wall Archives
They should change the Dolphins' name to the Nazis so that everyone can remember, and properly hate them. -
Do you mean the same Ricky Williams who had some truly incredible seasons, whose coach rode him into the ground, who was smart enough to get out while he had some semblance of his health remaining? Yeah, he would have been better served developing an addiction to totally legal prescription painkillers. Ricky was a misunderstood and terrific player. And you're perpetuating that notion to serve an agenda. Plenty of high-functioning people in society use this drug without any of the effects you're talking about, and plenty more people are harmed by legal, profitable drugs and alcohol.

All luxury condos all the time. It's getting close to pushing my family out of our neighborhood. But interesting graphics and presentation.

You're right to feel this way to some extent; after all, millions of dollars are on the line and that should be enough to stay straight for a time, or to at least use discretion. But presuming the law changes as it gradually has over time, what will there be to learn? That the law is inconsistent in different quarters, and perhaps that it is perhaps irrational considering the harm caused by other regulated drugs in comparison? At a much higher altitude.

There could be a strong odor from the bag without his having smoked it. I am sure they searched for paraphernalia or a larger amount of drugs in the car once they spotted the small bag. If there wasn't anything that appeared to indicate his having smoked, and his driving wasn't erratic, chances are he wouldn't have received a DUI ticket.

OK, you can get them here -- we're sort of both right. The Williams 2003 team finally fielded a good defense, as did the Mularkey 2004 one -- though they couldn't stop Willie Parker to save their lives. In any case, Gregg came in here too glued to his own ideas to use what was working and it cost the team. Then they let go of Pat Williams and that, too, cost the team. Anyway, Rian Lindell's reign of terror is over.
-
I'd have to look at the numbers, but I recall thru both the Mularkey and Greggo regimes that anyone could run on this team.
-
Nah, I just don't go there. I'd rather see the teams as constituted fail and the Bills best them. Now, if Brady has to be out against *some team*, and it happens to be ours... I ain't complaining.

That and that they sucked as a team. Awful on both sides of the trenches and late-vintage Bledsoe was the best they had at QB. Blech.
