  1. I imagine he could have a larger stake than Jay-Z - just more years in the biz pulling in those huge tour numbers. I'll bet he could pull together 10-15%, but I think you're right in principle.
  2. I didn't say it was implausible. I only said that it was completely unsubstantiated and probably fabricated. What about stupid fans and railings that are too low to protect them from themselves? For the record, I believe strongly that if this were to come to fruition, Bongiovi would come in and say and do all the right things to ingratiate himself to the region, league, and fanbase, and move the team to LA (or Toronto) within 10 years. You don't buy a team and leave it in Buffalo unless you have some strong ties to and feelings for the region.
  3. I hope not. My fantasy opponent has him.
  4. I will personally sell my stake in the Bills for 500 million dollars.
  5. I won't believe it until I get a "report" on ESPN radio that only a single person has heard.
  6. The rumor about him buying it with Kelly has only been "reported" by someone here who has 44 posts to his/her account. I'll take that with a healthy dose of skepticism.
  7. Cool story bro. News breaking on a Sunday, I love it.
  8. Aha, got it. I think when it's been bandied about that Jeremy Jacobs could be a potential owner that this was the roadblock (that he owns the Bruins). That's what I was thinking of. I think the team wouldn't get the commitment it needs from ownership with Golisano holding the purse-strings. I guess it could help keep the team in town, but I see it as a holding pattern for football operations. The team needs someone who loves football and really wants the Bills to win (a Pegula for football -- maybe even the man himself). I see very little evidence that Bon Jovi is a guy who knows football and will do whatever it takes to win (though a winning on-field product is the most marketable and profitable asset).
  9. Aren't there NHL provisions against owning another sports franchise in the same town? Also, I always thought of Terry as a guy who got into this because he loved hockey and the Sabres. It's not that I don't believe he could really also love the Bills, but I haven't ever seen him comment on them or their ownership situation. One thing I do imagine Pegula understands is the meaning and value of the Bills to the region. It would not be the worst thing to have a deep pocketed owner running both teams and to have some synergy between the two. The Bills are also always playing second banana to those f**ks in Jersey.
  10. Frosted tips and jean jackets for all. Also: This BARF.
  11. If you ask me, the YAC stat was basically invented for him. That said, you have to understand that the way that defenses respected Thurman helped open things up for Reed.
  12. I've been getting back into the Sabres, too.
  13. And Mike Pucillo is stuck in a dumpster somewhere near the Ralph Wilson Fieldhouse.
  14. I'm not. Simply clarifying that when I referred to "the office," it was in response to this different allegation from a staffer. I don't disagree with your last comment.
  15. I was thinking that "team staffer" suggests this might not just be happening in the locker room. I guess that is open to interpretation. Generally speaking, if someone feels excluded from or ostracized at the workplace (as opposed to being in on the joke) that's where these lines tend to be crossed. I guess good on these guys that they can be dicks at work. There are certainly looser workplaces but if there's no respect, then there are bound to be some issues somewhere along the line. They just usually don't manifest themselves in league- or company-wide investigations.
  16. I'll always remember his outstanding performance in the Duff Bowl.
  17. And if we just don't agree on your definition of a "questionable college pocket passer," then it's just not a description worth having. I know you're a big fan of Kurt Warner. What was his college scouting report?
  18. Problem is that most of those guys aren't going to be available, so the hope here is to exploit the Texans' situation. I think given his price, a second is totally reasonable. I agree, you'd love to get a receiver you could have for 5 years or more, but we have a lot of cost-controlled players who are young. I think this could be a way to supplement them for now till we can find a player like him in the draft. I wonder how he and Mario got along in H-Town.
  19. Really? I imagine the top WR in free agency is not going to be as good... most great ones get locked up by their teams. Megatron isn't going to come available, AJ Green isn't... And if anyone is better and younger I have to believe the salary, commitment and bonus are going to be higher. And while I understand that precedent says that at 35 a guy will slow down and be ineffective, this isn't just anyone we're talking about here. Every year since 2007, save for an injury plagued 2011, he's averaged almost 100 ypg, and 6 receptions per game. The stats aren't trending downward. He is on pace for another 1500 yard season.
  20. Taller than Lee Evans, desperate for playoffs, catches everything. If you could get 3 1000 yard seasons out of a tall, productive 2nd rounder and then were to never hear from him again, I would still take it. Think about who he replaces, and what he allows other receivers on this roster to do and be. He would be an instant upgrade and would have zero of the learning curve of a rookie. Draft picks are assets, but they aren't gold. Johnson is money in the bank, and talented possession receivers can have long careers.
  21. Trade a second and a conditional for him, why not?
