Aha. Thanks for clarification. I obvs had some bad information. -
What coaches should be let go?

How about WRs coach? Their play has been really inconsistent. -

I think the "don't ask me who" part is actually what sinks your claim. We could lose Byrd. But if we do, it should be because we tagged him and someone else offered up a useful piece / pick in trade. Scott Chandler, Alex Carrington, Alan Branch, FJax, Hairston, Aaron Williams, and I believe, Lawson will be eligible for FA (not sure about restricted vs. UFA). Maybe we do lose these guys. I'd like most of them back, but none of them should cost premium dollars. If I had to guess I'd say that Lawson and Chandler might end up elsewhere. FJax could be a wild-card. Maybe the guy just doesn't see a path to the playoffs here and he does deserve one. Stevie might be one of those pieces, and that's a damned if you do, damned if you don't proposition. But none of these guys is irreplaceable. Whatever the case, we have little proof that the Bills won't be in on anybody. The fact is that a losing franchise in a tougher part of the country is not an easy sell no matter the dollar amount. Some you win, like Mario Williams. With others, you don't stand a chance, as with Peyton. If I'm Russ Brandon, I know that my coaching hire is in the balance and that the public image of this team really needs to be fixed by a winning season with a trip to the playoffs, ASAP. I'm in on every FA, hoping to convince a few of them. That said, the way you build is through the draft. Hopefully this regime can get it right. -
But he doesn't dive for the ball and his hands are suspect. Kid can get open though.

Probably on the account of the men quickly coming to kill him through the porous OL. -

I see a LOT of GARBAGE receiver play. Lazy route running, minimal effort. The 3rd and 5 play to Graham - not a great pass, but one that Danny Amendola or Welker come back and dive for. Stevie... SMH. EDIT: He does miss Stevie wide open, left sideline on the Jonathan Banks INT, which is a mistake. Can't blame him for not being confident in SJ though. Play at 6:08 - against Brady that is a late hit. Just sayin'. Also at 6:50. -
Good screen play under pressure by EJ, CJ had a really beautiful escape move, but Woods grabbed some jersey. You can see it at about 5:17 here: http://vimeo.com/81595878

Yup. There's always something. You know, because scouting reports (from which you can probably cherry pick just about any statement to validate your claim). -

All cred right here, John. No doubt, it's not EJ or nobody. Sane people say: look at what's available, if a can't-miss guy falls in your lap, of course, take him. If another guy you like but know needs seasoning / has facets of the game to improve falls to you in the third round, sure, take him. It's also not "EJ is a bust and will never succeed and we must draft another QB or we're sunk." That's the same logic that some people say landed us EJ. But it's not wrong this time because EJ sucks amirite? Crazily enough, none of these things work as a simple binary. That makes it very difficult for some fans who refuse to see things any other way. -
Colts far worse off than Bills

No way, dude. This is special. Are you sick of pants, too? Down with pants, I say! -

The same great talent evaluators who drafted WRs most people are still high on, and our 2nd round rookie of the year LB candidate. Anyway, about this eye test. So, he needs glasses? Or you're making stuff up? Other causes for concern: EJ also didn't pass the fluffernutter test, and he graded out poorly in the nose competition. Don't even look at his slinky results. -
Trade a 4th or 5th round pick for Matt Schaub

I think he could be gotten with a pick (in the) six(th). -
EJ Dooms Bills Until 2016 Season

In this season of thankfulness, I am thankful for these posts as they help me to streamline my TSW experience with the Manage Ignore Prefs function. -
Did anybody hear in this Chargers - NYG game the announcer saying Danny Woodhead is "thick below the waist"?

The Bills being some combo of disappointing and awful, this is a fact of life, as of late. The fans turning on each other -- and on just about every member of the team -- to score petty points in a game that isn't fun? Being right about the Bills (or individual players) not being good doesn't make you king or queen of anything. Not here, not anywhere. I'm gonna miss it here for awhile, but I think I need a break.

The Buffalo Bills have a better QB Situation Than...
RuntheDamnBall replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except for said proven veteran was an unmitigated disaster of a #1 overall pick until Harbaugh came in and rescued him and the team. Sometimes it ain't all on the player. And certainly it can take more than 8 games to figure it out. Settle down, Beavis. -

First Round Ability or Value......which Bills?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think finding a TE (Martellus Bennett would have been an upgrade) and another LB would have been nice, but they did an awful lot of roster overhaul to begin with. The training wheels had better be off next year, though. -
Bucs losing to Bills would be big blow?

It's also not supposed to be journalism. -
That draft would be an absolute dream.

First Round Ability or Value......which Bills?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Manuel is playing like a first-rounder -- not like a top 5 bona fide starter, but perhaps like Aaron Rodgers might have played if he hadn't had the opportunity to sit for a couple of years. If they had won that game last week -- largely on the arm and legs of Manuel -- instead of fumbling it all away, I think there would be little doubt over this. W-L always gets tied to the QB and it remains an unfair and unhealthy perspective. -

When you're writing a column, you're not inhabiting the role of journalist. You're being asked to provide commentary or informed opinion. Just be clear about the distinction. He's not writing a game wrap like Wawrow does. I think the writer sounds kind of douchey, but the main point -- that Schiano's job is in jeopardy the more he loses -- stands, and it's worthy of discussion in a column. As for journalism, sports reporters, in general, have to be storytellers, who convey the emotional ride of the game and the sport as much as the facts. Facts and stats alone don't make for interesting reading. Discussion of what led to different decisions and how the game unfolded can be. You can do it without editorializing - it's just that most don't. -

So... maybe the guy we have will be more than a game manager in 7 years? Is it that hard to connect the dots? -
EJ vs. Russell Wilson's First 3 NFL Starts
RuntheDamnBall replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair, there are a lot of decisive runs there that I am pretty sure EJ is being coached to avoid (whether this is wise, I am not sure). Also, there are some very wide open receivers there. On one of those the CB falls down, and on some others, the receiver is in open space. EJ hasn't been finding that so far. In part, that's because Wilson's deep game is respected and it opens up the middle of the field, so if EJ can really hit a few more of those, the D will be forced to back off so that the game doesn't become a track meet.
