I'm buying season tickets for the LA Bills
CJPearl2 replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You would "abandon" WNY too if you had a chance to make more money. I graduated from law school and the best area to practice law (with the best salary) was in California. I would love to raise my family in Buffalo, but the state of the economy there makes it impossible. Why do you think most of the college grads from Buffalo are moving west and south? And this is the problem. So, to get back to my original point, why don't these games sell out? Where are all the people? These games should be sold out in September, especially a huge rivalry game like Miami. Is it economics? Is is disdain for the team? -

I don't either. But if the people in Buffalo don't want them, at least, when they move, I can go to all the games. -

Agree to disagree. But don't think the 4 - and it will be 4 after next week - non-sell outs aren't opening people's eyes in the league office. That is a team that sold on only 1/2 its games. That is the issue!! The Bills sold only HALF their games. -

Yes, the league has changed tremedously since 1998. Look at the TV contracts, looks at NFL product sales, look at owner revenues. Look at the amount of salary cap difference, TV coverage, etc. Look just at the TV contract amounts- how much NBC and ESPN paid for Sunday and Monday Night football this year - of which Buffalo was NEVER on-wonder why? In the 90s a lot of teams didn't have sell outs. Now, however, EVERY team sells out. Except us, of course. And the new labor agreement completely screws us. The big owners don't want to share revenues with teams, like the Bills, that don't put a competitive team on the field, don't draw big TV numbers and can't even sell out games. And now, the big markets are going to build billion-dollar stadiums to increase their revenues (see Dallas's proposal - even smaller markets like Arizona with their new stadium - sold out every game) and push out all smaller market teams like Buffalo and Jacksonville. I want them to stay. But the current state of affairs scares the crap out of me. -

My point, for most of you, wasn't made. I would hate to see them move. But why can't we sell out a friggin Miami game - especially when this team is playing so well. And as for sell-outs in the 90s? This is a completely different league now. It is all about revenue and with LA waiting for a team, the league is waiting for some team to drop in attendance or become vulnerable so they can be moved. Buffalo needs the following to keep the team: 1) New owner with big bucks 2) New stadium downtown - state of the art (because the rest of the league will be upgrading) 3) Larger season ticket base 4) Most Importantly - a good product. I know we are "building" in the righ diretion, but we have been doing so for 4 years - and quite frankly, people are sick of it. -
I live in Orange County now and I'm very excited at the Bills' move here. I will have at least 2 season tickets. Can't Wait!!! Thanks Buffalo-area fans. I can finally go to every home game now. If the Tennessee game doesn't sell out (which Ill be at while visiting family) you can kiss this team goodbye. If we can't sell out because the Sabres are so hot then we don't deserve to have 2 professional sports teams.
-
By the time the season ends, the Bills will have failed to sell out HALF of their games. If this Miami game isn't a sell-out, how on earth could the Tennessee game be a sell out? I live in California, or else I would be at all the games, no matter what. In fact, I bought a ticket to this game online and sent it to a family member to attend. I think a lot of Ralph's moving talk is fluff, but failing to sell out half the games, and being the only team to not have full sell outs will put the bulls-eye on Buffalo's back as the new "hot" team to be relocated.

"Hey Charlie Murphy..wanna hear a new joke? What did the five fingers say to the face?" SMACK. I wish I had two more hands....so I could give those tities four thumbs down!!

When the team had a chance to make the playoffs, we will hold off on draft talk. But until then, all we have to hope for is a savior in teh draft. Deal with it.
-
A 5.5 or 6 point underdog to a team with 4 more wins (SD 9-2 team with the Bills 5-6) is very respecful. On paper, SD will run all over us. Remember last year's game? I do, I was there, and it was ugly.

USC's Dwayne Jarrett with our first round pick. He has the size and strength our WRs are missing and he catches everything in sight. My god, he looks awesome tonight. He should be available when we pick, unless this team wins more than 6 games.

Great Article About Greggo on ESPN.com

One more point, did you see this part: "and owner Dan Snyder's jet -- Redskin One -- is probably already fueling up to greet Nate Clements and Dwight Freeney on the first day of 2007 free agency. " -
Great Article About Greggo on ESPN.com
CJPearl2 replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice find, great article. What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time Greggo was being called a genuis and rumors of another head coaching job were swirling. On an unrealted note, well, sort of, the Skins' biggest problem, obviously, is completely overpaying for players. They are a team of mercenary players and overpaid coaches who are all gunning for head coaching jobs. Too many egos. But seriously, look at the contracts that Archuletta and Randel-El got. Those guys are good players, but they got All-Pro/Hall of Fame contracts. The team had no chemistry and no real good young players to develop. And it couldn't happen to a better owner. -
That game broadcast was absolutely terrible!!!

Get the Dish (Directv) and stop complaining
CJPearl2 replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually Im not wrong. If you litigated the issue you would win. This is how the landlords are getting away with preventing dishes, by saying that the porch/patio is off limits. If it is shared, then maybe. But if in your exclusive control, you can put one on it. When I lived in apartments the landlord gave me the same excuse, but I installed it on my deck anyways and told the complex to try and take it down. I quoted them the federal law, gave them a copy and told them if they tried to take it down I would file an action against them. It also helped that I had just graduated law school and could have defended myself free of charge. -
had the pot on Miami. Easy win!

sven: depending on how your apartment is set up, specifically if you have a balcony or patio that is within your "exclusive use," you may be able to get a dish. see this: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/consumerdish.html I am a lawyer in California and years ago when i was in an apartment, my apartment complex tried to pull the same crap. And, as long as you do not damage walls or common areas (drilling, etc) and if you have a balcony or patio, you can get the dish. I had my dish wired through my sliding glass door and there are methods to use that keeps the door closed with the wire through them. For a couple extra bucks you can get a stand and set the dish on it without having to attach it to apartment itself. Just put a heavy weight or sand bag on the stand to secure it in weather.

Enough with the NFL network bitching. If you want NFL network all you have to do is get Directv. It's so much better than "digital" cable anyways, has more HD channels and is cheaper. Why do we have to keep discussing this? And don't use the excuse that you live in an apartment, etc. It is illegal (in most states, I believe) for an apartment complex to prevent a tenant from getting a satellite. Years ago I had this issue, threaten the illegality of it and they backed off. I got a stand and put in on my back deck. Problem solved.

ESPN Page2's retort to the Dunta Robinson quote
CJPearl2 posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=gallo/061120 • J.P. Losman: After Losman led the Bills on a last-minute drive to defeat the Texans, Houston cornerback Dunta Robinson had this to say: "If that had been Peyton Manning, you'd expect it. But it was J.P. Losman. That's embarrassing. I hope he doesn't feel too good, because we just shot ourselves in the foot." Yeah, Losman, you shouldn't feel too good. You had to resort to a last-minute drive to beat Dunta Robinson and the Texans. Most teams usually put them away long before the fourth quarter. You should be embarrassed. You're so pathetic I'm surprised you're not a Houston Texan. Classic! -
Or did we just play a poor defensive front 7?
